Attacks in Paris + Belgium

It's not quite the great success that it's being made out to be though, is it? Third party candidates standing aside has helped block the FN. But the FN remain the most popular single party in some of these regions.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
A nursery school teacher in Paris has been attacked with a knife by someone apparently shouting about ISIS.

News from AFP via Radio 5.

'The attacker reportedly arrived wearing a balaclava and gloves but was unarmed and used weapons he found in the classroom.'

Huh nah, imo it's in quite bad taste to post about winning a Best Play award for a production one wrote and starred in, in a thread about terrorist attacks resulting in over a hundred deaths. But I was in Paris this weekend. MOTWYW.

Huh. Not the only performance of original fiction in the French capital this weekend, if you catch my drift!

There is two rounds of voting. They never had any seats, they were just leading in them.

Sloppy wording on my part...i still don't understand the two rounds of voting. Especially as it seems the 2nd vote holds the sway

If someone gets 50% in the first round then they win, if not then everyone with more than 10% gets entered into the 2nd round (unless they withdraw) and whoever wins that actually gets the seat.

It's a bizarre system. In a way it would have suited FN to have put in a mediocre performance in round one so that the Socialists and Republicans would have carried on playing to win in round two.

Not beyond the realms of possibilities for it to happen at the presidential as well with FN winning the first round and losing the run off.

Cheers! Weird way of doing things indeed

The analysis I saw said there is a small, but not negligible, chance of Le Pen actually winning the presidency if it's the Socialists who look most likely to challenge. The logic being that Sarkozy would never do the 'honourable' thing and step aside, so you could have the centre-right and centre-left attacking each other while FN Nick victory.

Can't see it myself. But she'll probably improve upon her Dad's performance against Chirac (18% in the run off, was it?).
