Best - Blundell Park. I know it's an absolute shithole but the atmosphere when we play their is absolutely phenomenal from both sides which just makes it fantastic.

Worst - Vale Park. Burslem is basically a war torn area.

The only bit really recognisable today from the artist's impression are the clouds.

Three of the stands ( this is the design from 1950) still exist, add a roof and seats with the away end on the right of the picture.

In Vale's defence, Vale park was originally designed to be much, much bigger. The Wembley of the North IIRC.
Odsal is the Wembley of the North. Vale Park's not even northern.

Odsal's a shithole too by the way.

Vale Park probably has one of the best away ends in the football league...

Always made me laugh when Plymouth fans sing songs about living in the grim North to us. I suppose everyone is Northern to them!

Yeah, I remember us giving "you dirty Northern bastards" a few airings at the old Manor Ground in Oxford about fifteen years ago.

Does it fuck.....I'm sick to death of hearing this.

It's absolutely shite. Decent in capacity, but nothing else.

This is Vale's problem. The ground itself is decent but it is too vast wtgr to them. 4000 in their place is the same as 10k at the Ricoh, it's too big.
Close a stand or something, it would be a better experience.

We closed the upper tier of the railway stand for one game... It caused fury amongst those in it! Personally I'd like us to have a 12-14k ground.

Wouldn't it have been better to let them out first??

And 12-14k is not a lot to spend on a ground. It cost us £18 million to build just the one stand.
I think a club of Port Vales's history, maturity and - let's face it - vague mediocrity, should be spending at least 50k on a ground. Like Eastleigh and Stenhousemuir's new main stand. You could save on roofing by using cut-price asbestos sheeting and one of you must have a Travis Perkins discount card.

Come on Vale! Think big!!

I like Upton Park and i'm pretty pissed off they're moving to this shitty Olympic stadium, been there twice and we've won there twice which helps but it's just a proper footy stadium and a top away day. Turf Moor is probably my favourite away end though.

As for worst, I really disliked Sixfields with its big gaping corners, wank location too unless you want to catch a quick film. Obviously your typical ten-a-penny bowls are the worst though, same place, different coloured seats.

I'm not including ones in the Premiership as if you've been to Anfield/Etihad etc then that's obviously going to be the best and that's boring.

Best for facilities/looks: Stadium MK (best below the Prem that I've been to)
Best for atmosphere/novelty: Highbury (Fleetwood Town)

Worst for facilities/looks: Bootham Crescent (York)
Worst for soullessness/blandness/location: Keepmoat

To be fair I'm fairly sure I've heard that at Southend a few times over the years!

I agree that Doncaster Rovers ground has to be the most boring away experience I've been too, the location has nothing around it apart from a few overpriced food stalls, the ground is a soulless bowl with no atmosphere. The only few Donny fans that sing are a handful of chavs and a bird in a red jacket next to the away end.

Out of interest, have you been to the Olympic stadium SF? It's anything but 'shitty' in my opinion, absolutely stunning in fact, modern it maybe but it's an incredible stadium WTGR.

Hardly a football stadium though. Fans will be miles away from the pitch for a start, and West Ham will only half fill it

True. West Ham seem to think they're gonna fill it but that's unlikely. I don't know what the 'modifications for football' entail, anyone know?

I've been past it a few times on the train recently and they always seem to be doing something with the roof, looks like they are building the roof out over the pitch a little bit which should help a tiny bit for atmosphere.

Other than that, not a clue.

I was lucky enough to get tickets for the Paralympics at the stadium which was a great day. I can only agree that the fans will be a long way from the pitch as it was then, but, apart from adding seats, I can't see what they can do about it. I guess it still has to be made available for athletics?
All that said, it's some complex and piss easy to get to.
EDIT: Just found this.

No, athletics are gay.

It also looks like you will be at least 7 miles away from the football pitch.
