True. West Ham seem to think they're gonna fill it but that's unlikely. I don't know what the 'modifications for football' entail, anyone know?

They will sell out consistently imo. West Ham are a big club with a big fan base. They are also in London with access to millions of potential supporters. Tourists pay tons to go watch premier league games in London, they would get loads through that.

I have been keeping tabs on their forum for months now and there is a lot of talk of an away allocation of 5-6k - if pricing is cheap the big clubs should fill that. The stadium looks immense, but I reckon it will be like the Emirates. Modern and comfortable, but an absolutely horrific atmosphere.

I agree i think theyll fill it on a regular basis providing there in the premier league. Id fucking piss myself if they went down next year after all the spouting about the cheapest season tickets in the prem. Basing it on there form since christmas and europa league to deal with i believe theres a good chance of it happening

West Ham will pull in some big crowds, underestimated fan base in terms of size. Cutting their prices will help too.

Shame that a perfectly fine and good/proper football stadium (one of the best in the country) will now go to waste for an athletics stadium

It's okay, they can just build more "affordable" housing on the site.

If West Ham didn't massively reduce ticket prices then there is no way they would sell out a 60k stadium on a regular basis. In fact, i'm still not sure they will, I wouldn't say they're any bigger than Man City fanbase wise and they struggle to fill theirs despite winning the league and playing in the CL.

Man City fans are weird, they're only getting 10k more now than when they knocking round in Div 1 and 2. I think they preferred being shit.

.

We sat next to two nice American tourists at last season's Fulham Wolves 3rd round FA Cup game. They had been sold them as PL tickets. They thought the 0-0 draw played out in cold drizzle was "awesome" (It's an American phrase they use for everything. It's how they describe their cars, wine, low-cost airlines and short videos of cats). But "Holy smokes! The burgers are crapola." Bless. The burgers were still a lot better than the fucking match.

Best: A close call between Old Trafford and Bramall Lane. Also, bit of a weird choice but I really like the quirkiness of Kenilworth Road, although I'd prefer it if there was a proper stand down the side rather than those weird boxes and it must be shit if you prefer sitting to standing.

Worst: I hated Glanford park, although that terrace down the other end looks decent, and also any lego type stadium like the New Meadow

Best - Blundell Park. I know it's an absolute shithole but the atmosphere when we play their is absolutely phenomenal from both sides which just makes it fantastic.

Worst - Vale Park. Burslem is basically a war torn area.

Vale Park's the only place I've been to that I worried about cholera. Is Burslem still twinned with Kabul?

I was lucky enough to get tickets for the Paralympics at the stadium which was a great day. I can only agree that the fans will be a long way from the pitch as it was then, but, apart from adding seats, I can't see what they can do about it. I guess it still has to be made available for athletics?
All that said, it's some complex and piss easy to get to.
EDIT: Just found this.

Doesn't look so bad.

Gutted that Orient didn't get it. Would have been great to go next season and see the Orient Northampton match at the Olympic stadium. Not convinced Orient would sell it out every week, mind. Could see it having the odd empty seat for the visits of the likes of Exeter and Morecambe, but certainly it'd be overflowing for the derby matches with Daggers and Crawley.

And they could have named one end "The Stand of the Unknown Journeyman" as a fitting tribute to the legions of slightly familiar players who once played for Man Utd or Bolton in an early round League cup fixture.

I've said this before, i've never know a collective fanbase be as miserable and depressing as City fans, they're literally like a bunch of Karl Pilkingtons.

I'm not sure how they're coping with this success, I think they're just waiting for a financial catastrophe.

West Ham have dropped their prices? That's refreshing coming from a team in the money league. Fair play to them. If they've priced it right then I stand corrected, they might well fill it.
Nice move Hammers!

Don't be fooled by it.

It's not a good gesture - the fact they've reduced the ticket prices is going to encourage more to buy, therefore the owners will be making more money.

They're only doing it to sell it out - don't be fooled into this, a football club is effectively a business nowadays.

Fair enough. It might be perceived as 'quite clever' though. If they fill the stadium by lowering the prices, surely they are reeling in extra support for if / when those prices start creeping up again?

Indeed.

It's a business method, and a business plan.

These multi-millionaires have sneaky and clever ways of going about it.

Not that simple - it's propaganda.

They advertise it as 'a reward for loyalty' as to why they are cutting the ticket prices, rather than to gain more viewers and have more money in their pocket.

Best: Coventry (liked the wall of fans we seemed to have), Preston (how enclosed everything is), Bradford (I like the two tier away end, was something very different, with the steps up etc). Millennium Stadium (although cheating as the best atmospheres I remember in there are rugby)

Worst: Walsall (having to split up away fans), Barnsley (maybe better on a warm day, but cold day with winds made it a very cold experience)

Wembley could go into both for me, not a bad seat in the stadium, but very hard to create an atmosphere.

Hard for me to say best non UK stadium as I've only been to the Olympicstadion (Berlin) which was for a pre season game and its openning against Besiktas, and Nou Camp which was against Las Palmas. Was young when I went to both.

Best - Forest. Lovely ground, lovely setting right by the River Trent. Went on a nice summer's day, which helped.

Worst - Wembley is a bit naff if you judge it as a football ground. Looks lovely but shite for atmosphere.

Not so sure its just wembley itself i think its probably mainly down to the fact that when any of us play there theres an extra 10/20,000 people there who never go all season who probably dont even know a song.

Nice move Hammers!

A few seasons back, Wigan had the lowest season ticket prices in the entire four divisions. They still preferred walking alongside the canal, Rugby League and dogging to turning up at the Casa el Dave.

True, but it's the same for England games, Cup finals etc. Just not a good football ground, really.

Problem with the england games is theres never a decent competitive match. The scotland friendly was actually quite good for once. English fans are pretty shit in general in my opinion probably only the spanish who are more boring.

England fans are pretty much like club fans in as much as the away support is immeasurably better than the home support.
It's not easy to get tickets but if you can get to an England away game it is a great weekend.

England fans at home are horrific, but away from home they (we) are brilliant. Always decent numbers, lots of noise and of course the brilliant display of hundreds of St George's flags.
