Let me break this down for you:
When Anderson bought the club, we had a couple of players still on high wages BUT the wage bill was down to the lowest it had been since 1996.
Unlike your stadiums, the upkeep, safety certificates, catering contracts are as a result of the large stadiums. The Police were still charging us premiership costs to police the stadium and areas, even though we hadn't been in the prem for years...and continue to do so. These costs had not reduced and were one of the reasons we struggled to keep our heads above water...
You know what, forget it, whatever I say you will still argue.
I am going to pick on your clubs as you have voiced an opinion. If brentford had not sold the players it had in the last few years, you would be in deficit as your transfers have kept you where you.... your net debt is £69m (http://financialfootballnews.com/brentford-fcs-2018-finances/).
Oxford United operate at a loss every year, it won't let me put the link up to your local rag, but they did a piece on you in April 2019, you lot transfer money from overseas to keep you lot going, major concern that
Yes we are losing money by spending more than our income, the difference is I'm not claiming otherwise.
You talk about stadium costs etc, we pay £500k+ rent/charges per season and we don't get money from stadium catering/bars etc either (or can raise money from concerts etc) so a poor excuse.
Hence, why our owners are trying to find a location for a new stadium and then get permission to build it. They have succeeded in getting the 23 year lease from the Council for the new training ground which will tie into our Community programme and hopefully add net income of £100k+. The owners have spent serious money on those training facilities that relate directly to the club.
Everybody pays police costs, it isn't unique to your club.
So breaking it down, you were overspending whatever you previously claimed. Although, we can now add blaming the Police to the list of others to blame.
