Aspas scored twice against Barca tonight, one a delicious chip. Amazing what a player can do when the Rodgers stink is off them.

Brendan, I fear is David Moyes' doppleganger' ~ Moyes and his 4-6-0 formation at Everton I mean.
It seems a fair few 'up-an-coming' Brit coaches went the same route.
Token forward, who played channels ~ but the thrust and goalscorers came from midfield seemed his ideal.
Ballobonkers, lone striker
Lambert~~ now Ings~~ lone striker.
The Barca formula or syndrome, I think. Without the quality or guile.
Liverpool were supreme with dual strikers. Sturridge achieved wonders alongside Suarez and a lesser midfield.

Under Brendan, Liverpool seem to have decided that midfielders being crucial, the 'lone striker' being a target cone is acceptable.
Any opposition that floods midfield denies Brendan's basic philosophy.

Carlisle knew that last night. And proved it.~~~

Brendan is pouring good players through his fingers like grains of sand by his sad and non-Prem philosophy.
His stubborness.

Perhaps his divorce, his son's problems ~ his 'make-over' - his new style ,his new teeth, his new hair, his new 'trophy girlfriend' his "Hello" type graduation ~~~perhaps that diverted him from his job ?

Who knows ? But what remains basic is his aversion to twin strikers, his reliance on midfield, his inabilty to relate to the Kop.
They made it to "Hello"~~~so who are the Kop?~~~seems his mantra.

He must go.

You don't need to be a die-hard Liverpool fan or footballing genius to see that Liverpool's squad is a bit incoherent, a bit confused, unbalanced, call it what you like. But that's what happens when you get multiple different people all buying different players of different types.

Sacking Rodgers isn't going to be a silver bullet to all woes. Building a balanced squad takes the patience to give the manager, Rodgers or Ancelotti or whoever, the freedom to design and build his recruitment strategy, and then a good few transfer windows and a lot of money (for Liverpool's expected standard),

Funnily enough Man United have exactly the same problem, but seemingly just a bit more money to help gloss over it. And the next Thierry Henry, of course....:pond:

I disagree. If we added 3 world class players to this squad we should be at least challenging for the league. Not many teams in this league have 1 world class player, let alone 3...

He has a point. They challenged for the league a couple of years ago, when Suarez was their only real world class player.

I don't see how that's so farfetched, add 3 world class players to the Villa squad and we'd be challenging for the champions league ffs.

I'd expect that team to finish in the top 4 minimum, and for argument's sake I've not used Messi/Ronaldo.

Huh??? Is this serious? That team looks rubbish. Maybe if Villa had Messi / Ronaldo / Suarez up front then they could have a chance towards top 4, but definitely not with that side you posted.

Good article here on Rodgers by Jonathan Wilson. Probably doesn't add much that hasn't already been mentioned in this thread but I thought it was interesting.

Yes it is. I know it's rubbish, but with Pique in defence, it'd seriously sure it up, alongside Richards a decent player in the centre. Fabregas would be the playmaker, Ibrahimovic would score a load of goals. Obviously injuries would fuck it all up, but it is a good side.

WHERE ??????????????????????????????

He's hyperlinked the words you prune.
