RIP the old girl. Never been in it consistently before last season but my god was it tired.

Spent more time in the Williams than I did in the East End. Will be sad to see it go.

Over the years, I probably did as well. It never felt the same when the old enclosure was seated though.
The ground is becoming unrecognisable now from the Gate as I once knew it. All progressive and necessary, I accept, but sad all the same.
Onwards and (stadium wise) literally upwards. The new West stand is going to be something special, really iconic for us City fans.

I was always pro-AV if it was a choice between that or redeveloped AG. However, there wasn't a choice, and I don't think we could have asked for anything more from what the redeveloped ground is planned to be. SL and all involved have created something superb considering the hand they were dealt with.

It may be almost unrecognisable from what it once was but that's happened throughout history when clubs have improved their stadiums. All that matters is we're still at our spiritual home and I think it will have a really good mix of the past and the present.

Shame we couldn't get safe standing in from the off but there's still hope for the future.

Time to let the past go. If we want Bristol City to progress as a club, we have to get up with the times, and start building for potentially getting in the PL.

I'm sure we'll all have many fond memories of the old AG, but with this new stadium being developed we have the potential to create history, and really kick on.

Like Jordan, I was Pro-AV, but I daren't moan with the show that has been put on so far, and can't do anything but thank Lansdown for what he is creating, it's really starting to become something that us City fans can be proud of.

Getting the feels, as the kids say these days, watching the Williams come down.

My first ever game was in the Dolman in the late 80s, and i still remember the 'Maggie. Maggie. Maggie. Out .Out. Out' chants from the East End. Until the terracing was removed from the lower Williams though, i used to sit/lean on the wall at the front of the Williams, before moving to the corner of the East End and then the Atyeo when it was opened.

I still have strong memories of watching games from the Williams like that, it was my first regular stand, and maybe that explains why i feel sadder about it coming down than i did the EE. The view was shit, but i will miss it, part of my childhood gone.

It'll be very strange setting foot back in Ashton Gate in few months time, with it looking completely different from that very first game i saw.

Well put V and I agree with every word.
Don't get me wrong, I'm chuffed at how good the Gate will look, especially next summer but I go all the way back to 1975 and, like you, it's going to be wierd seeing the Gate as it will be when we are so used to how it was.
It's all good though, just getting older and a bit nostalgic I suppose. I still think of the Atyeo as new and remember the excitement when a 'new' stand was built at the Park end and that was 21 years ago!!

Contemplated it but decided I couldn't afford a season ticket, would have been where I'd have gone though

I can't wait for the foundations to be laid on the Williams stand so we can all watch that 11,000 stand go up. love the Webcam feature on Bristol Sports site.

I think the sheer footprint of it might shock all of us we8gas. It's going to seriously dominate the site and, once the stand is built, I have been told it will be clearly visible from Hanham mount. That will give the methane snorters something to dribble about from the dark side! :2thumb:
