The funny thing is that when I mentioned Warnock, I was being sarcastic because I wouldn't want him anywhere near us.

I think it'll be Michael Brown, isn't Vale's budget really small and getting smaller? If so there's no chance they'll attract any of the names mentioned, maybe Gareth Ainsworth at a push purely for the fact he'd be managing a division higher. Stuart Gray could be an option, he did pretty well when we were operating under a tight budget.

Makes sense.

Port Vale fans wouldn't want one of the most successful football league managers of all time and Gillingham fans wouldn't want Steve Evans who will probably end up equalling Warnock et al's promotion records.

This is why you will both never ever prosper and stay in the Championship, you're at your peak now, enjoy it lads.

He's done nothing since 2011 when he took QPR up.. He's a manager who's on his way out of the game.

I've a feeling it will be Michael Brown which I would be fine with because he's well liked at the club and seems the kind of player/coach that will be a decent manager some day. I think he also has some of his badges.

You say he's done nothing since 2011.

Keeping Rotherham up last season is as good an achievement when you consider how poor they were when he stepped in.

Signs of a very good manager when he gets the job done at either end of the table.

Steve Evans proved at Leeds, he only gets promotions when the big Wonga chucked at him, Crawley and Rovrum would of gone up without him due to money.

Yet again I'll say we had a mid table budget when we were in league one and he kept us up with the lowest in the championship, don't let facts get in the way though.

I'm surprised that John Coleman isn't being mentioned much. Hes done well on a small budget so would be a good fit given our circumstances.

After how Rochdale played against us under him i'd want him nowhere near the running!

And here's me thinking I'm coming into a thread about our next manager... Hopefully our next manager isn't a paedophile.

Saunders has thrown his name into the hat.. NO THANKS!

Gary Bowyer has supposedly had contact from us. At least he's used to working for an insane owner.

Right, cleaned up the thread of all the rubbish. First and final warning to keep this on topic please. Any more nonsense and I'll just close the thread.

Its the good old footy bantz fella! I am going to sound like a grumpy old man here but some of the nicknames' that fans give their rivals is a bit cringy. Sjoke is particularly bad given the current statuses of both sides.

We are no better, we have a sensational nickname for our rivals.......... Poxford, how about that for genius!!

Back on topic, its league 1 managerial merry go round at the moment. Here's a name a bit out of left field, John Coleman at Accrington. He's done fantastically well this season, Accrington are losing a number of players and he may fancy a shot up a level?

Coleman has already failed at Rochdale

We're a bigger club than Accrington.

He has but I wouldn't hold that against him at all. Overall he has a extremely successful record at Acrrington. Would definitely not be against appointing him. If I remember rightly his assistant Jimmy Bell was a coach at Vale for a while working with our development squad so would have some idea of how things are done at Vale already.

Personally would love someone like Chris Powell but after our chairman told the national media he didn't consider Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink prior to Pages appointment as our fans are apparently a bunch of KKK members that won't happen.

Graham Westley is available...

Can't see Smurf and Westley getting on to be honest. Hated his Stevenage sides too, absolute scum at our place in the cup a few years ago! Not much better in the league games after! Still remember Tommy Fraser publically slating them as Cocky from the top down... Being banned for the replay and sitting in the away end squaring up to Roberts their captain when he came over for a corner.

Saunders if in the frame would probably be League Two football secured in 17/18, fans would revolt at that and worryingly I could see Smurf doing it.

Bowyer I know little about if I'm honest but used to working under volatile owners.

Brown I'm warming to the idea of, seems a popular choice with our fans but apparently said it was too soon to a fan today.

Rob Page has vacated Port Vale's managerial seat, to go to a smaller club, because his Chairman was a teensy tiny bit unstable and would generally shoot while the gun was still in the fucking holster. While he is a BALD FUCKING c*** FOR OFFERING USELESS CHRIS BIRCHALL A CONTRACT AND THEN LEAVING THREE DAYS LATER YOU FUCKING HORRIBLE VINDICTIVE c*** I HOPE YOUR FAMILY FUCKING DIES IN A BARBECUE ACCIDENT YOU PRICK I can totally understand his position with regards to doing the best for himself and his career. Vale, this season with a chairman who just isn't very well and the associated challenges would have undoubtedly led to a difficult campaign culminating in a dull 15th place finish, the opaque dome of stagnation getting thicker walls every year. His career would go nowhere and if anything would possibly suffer by having such an unstable, unpredictable, fatigued boardroom.

Consequently we need someone to slip Norman Smurthwaite some lithium tablets and get him on the cash injection side of the bed and invest heavily in a new manager, players, a chief operating or executive officer, a director of new business, a new club secretary, a shake up of the marketing and administration departments, and the rest to go on subsidising school trips to Vale Park on matchdays, indoctrinating the little shits with bright colours and fruit shoots, running open and charity days.

It is quite simple. What we all need to do is rig the euromillions so I win the £170m and then I'll take over. This is clearly the most desirable outcome for the football club, I'm sound. Not many other alternative options really.

Well that's your fit and proper person test passed, comfortably too.

Have the rumours dried up on this?
Just done another check on those the bookies have listed and there isn't really any names that jump out as being exciting and have the potential to take us any higher than Page did.

Bizarrely, Skybet have Nigel Clough at 16/1 - why would they even list a manager who's just taken his team into the Championship?

Nothing from Vale, the silence is deafening.

From past experience it will be ' in house' , failing that the Page compo money will be pocketed and it'll be an out of work manager. Please god not O'Driscoll.

Just don,t see loony Smurf paying compo to anyone else so a lot of the field can be ruled out. As for the bookies take it all with a pinch of salt, Di Canio was on a list last week !!

Let's not forget to look at this from the other angle as well - who, of any pedigree, would want to come to us?

I suspect that by December, there might be a few of those Vale fans who seemed reluctant to give Page a chance wondering what might have been had we kept hold of him

Talk on OVF is that it is an in work manager than is in line to take over according to Smurf... possibly Coleman? Minimal compensation and the Jimmy Bell link to Vale.

Knowing our luck it would be Steve f***ing Davis!

i think you'd be surprised, any manager wants to manage rather than be a pundit or sat at home with his Mrs.
Most managers have failures in their careers, Adkins fits bill for me, started at Scunny and got them to Championship.
I myself gave Page a chance and he bored me ****less with his negative lets not lose football, no tears shed here, as Page said every weekend ' we go again ' .

Few people on OVF reckon it is going to be Ronnie Moore.
