Even so. How much of his billion does he want to invest.
? What does he expect in return
? Does he agree the club needs restructuring? What when he gets bored? What if its frank lynch? Can't help think we're taking a massive risk given the amount of work already done by lapping et al to bring us stability, self sufficiency and an injection of new ideas

I don't believe there's any other serious investors, whether they are millionaires, billionaires or on the dole.

It's all part of the plan for Nixon and co to push the Lapping deal away, keep control of the club but make out it's not their fault.

Not that I'm aware of... this is the message we've just been given by one of the guys who's been involved in the talks on our side.

love the fact that appearance of a billionaire is ".......at a bad time but has to be looked into and checked out," he added." I guess Carlisle have a queue of them waiting to invest !!! lol

This.

It's typical of our owners. Invent a bull shit story in an attempt to disguise the fact they are trying to ruin our football club for their own personal gain.

I would think that but other people are coming out and saying it's true. Lapping was saying on the radio that they had a meeting between Premier League officials and were talking about clubs with the potential to go all the way to the top division as Swansea and Bournemouth have done, and we were one of the first mentioned. It wouldn't take much money to do for a billionaire to do compared to how much he/she has as a whole. They mentioned a 3-5 year plan as well so i'm guessing if it is true they've set a target league to get to by then - if it's a billionaire I would imagine the Championship would be a good target?

I don't think even our owners are daft enough to let Lapping go without any backup, they are locals after all and would be hated if it all went to shit. It's still unlikely but there's a chance that this could be the start of something pretty good for us.

Lapping wanted the club to stay at Brunton Park (he said so himself). This is where Nixon and Jenkins will have decided to step in. Their plan has always been to get the club packed off into a new (smaller) stadium that we don't even own, while some sort of deal is struck with the developer where Brunton Park and the surrounding land is sold and they all line their pockets. The new investor is simply a smoke screen to distract people while they get rid of Lapping. They'll be pumping their fists in delight now that Lapping has officially withdrawn his offer.

They may be "local" but they still want to line their pockets, give themselves a nice wedge to retire on even if it means fucking over the club.

^^this. Although I'm not sure how much Nixon and particularly Jenkins would have to gain financially, but blue yonder has always been Nixon's baby and I wouldn't be surprised if it was a factor in yesterday's events

It was Andy Bell who posted the tweet CUFC17 has copied above... Is he one of Lapping's group of investors? I know several of them were existing club vice presidents.

Lapping says they know where he is if it all falls though, just, if it does, how many of his investors will still be interested, and what of the managing director they were about to appoint?

Will Lapping have to start from scratch, he's done very well to get to where we are now, and the thing with Lapping is he doesn't want to own a football club, he doesn't want to make the decisions or be the big man. He wants to get a range of people to invest in the club, restructure the club to be more democratic and less autocratic and leave the running of it in the hands of a capable group of salaried directors.

Mystery Investor.... almost as bad as hearing your manager is chasing a 'mystery striker'. Can't see anything coming from this and Carlisle will most likely be in the same predicament next May.

The investors in the Lapping are all local and I would imagine most of them will still be interested in a few weeks, especially when it involves Nixon and Jenkins leaving the club.

It just seems weird to me that they would turn down a real investment opportunity for this one if they knew it was fake - Nixon and Jenkins can hardly afford to fund Blue Yonder on their own can they? Seems weird as well that someone who was part of Lappings deal to replace Nixon and Jenkins, and who is a massive CUFC fan, would now be supporting the alternative offer. All this points to there actually being an investor, the only ambiguity is over whether he's actually a billionaire.

That surprises me. A lot of clubs down here could rise to that level with the right backing, but I'm not sure that we somehow stand out.

Large catchment area with no nearby professional clubs, that's pretty much what they're basing it on I would assume. We've certainly got more potential than the likes of Bournemouth so if they can do it why can't we?

Bournemouth is a much bigger place though, about 400,000... and while we have that in our catchment area I think it affects our ability to attract fans that they will have to travel much further to see us play.

Bournemouth have a couple of clubs nearby though, we're isolated for miles and if we had a successful club we could pick up fans from all of that free space. I would say that we have the potential to be at least a Championship team given the right owners, and of course a billionaire fits the bill of being a good owner.

I heard rumour's of a rumour that it could now be a Trillionairre who is going to buy the Neu Camp and re-build it brick by brick at Carlisle.

I don't exactly trust that this is a billionaire but i'm having a great time thinking about the possibilities if it does turn out to be one.

I think the prospect you're facing is closer to Mein Campf than Neu Camp.

You're just setting yourself up for disappointment then.

There is no serious billionnaire offer. It's exactly how I said further up the thread. Worryingly some of our fans don't seem to realise how serious the situation is with these parasites wanting to strip the club of its assets for their own personal gain.

Well at present is not a lot can be done, so for next 2 weeks is a case of waiting and seeing HG.

once as you say no name comes forward and deadline for other takeover comes close it'll then be a time to act.

and don't get that excited DJ, even if it were by chance a rich rich person, a prospect of being a Hull or Cardiff selling the soul of the club for a top flight season isn't a great prospect either.......people think it sounds exciting till it happens.

Andrew Lapping interviewed by Border TV

http://www.itv.com/news/border/update/2015-05-20/watch-full-interview-with-andrew-lapping/

Sounds understandably deflated. I would have hoped... even if there was to be a major cash injection that it could have been done alongside Lapping's plans, the club doesn't need money as much as it needs an injection of new ideas and being run in a new way. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth that after all the effort he's put in to this transformation and the buzz that he's created, he can just be brushed aside like this, and like many of the United fans on here I have a hard time believing that this is a genuine opportunity, it's either someone in for a short-term crack of running a football club, or worse, and there's nothing concrete they may not even follow through on their interest.

We've tried to date two women at once, the girl next door was keen but the heiress turned our heads and I can see us being left alone in our bedsit with only a copy of Nuts for company.

Although tempted to leave you Cumbrians to go off into a darkened room, I have to say how lucky you are to have a guy like that supporting the club. Great interview from an obviously deflated but genuine fella.
