I thought this was the next statement.......ah what a shame.

We all know who the Keith is and club is trying to distance itself knowing the backlash from a lot of fans

Well although I don't trust a single thing Pattison says, I hope he's right about the text conversation being something that happened months ago... I know the other Keith was very vocal back then so that would be no surprise and give me faint hope that other Keith is no longer involved (even though all other signs seem to suggest he is).

If it ever came out this who thing was made-up by that member then I think the Trust is finished and has no come back ever at the club.

it would be exactly the argument as to why Trusts are bad for clubs if a genuine chance of getting a new owner had been ruined because just 1-2 members of said trust didn't want him and therefore worked things up to make sure it never happened.

hopefully it was all genuine and not made up because otherwise its a total farce and this board had best hope Curle doesn't have his usual f*ck-up he's had at other 4 clubs.

I don't think he acts on behalf on the trust. He's a member but not a major player, anyone can become a member. According to Deano his membership number indicates he only joined in the last 12 months, he didn't get much support from the rest of the trust, so if he is messing with imaginary billionaires now then I don't think the trust are connected.

I'm a bit puzzled here. I thought your Trust had secured a seat on the board? Didn't they do a deal with the current directors?

Yeah... the majority of the trust are still completely in the dark over this. The director who sits on the board for the trust was only allowed in on the loop the other week, under strict terms of confidentiality.

The trust members voted in favour of reducing the size of their share to make room for new investment, but this was strictly for the investment plan Lapping proposed. Since then they've been clear that the deal was only for Lapping's plan, and they would have to vote again if they were asked to reduce their share to make room for any billionaire.

So have they gone ahead and done that or is it still in the air?

No, because as things stand there has been no new investment... only ongoing (never-ending) talks with this billionaire who may or may not exist. Before the billionaire was brought up we were on track for Lapping to have taken over by now, but that is no longer happening, so as far as the trust are concerned, they're back to being opposed to any dilution of their shares.

I changed the thread title...

We have the next installment of the sorry saga
http://www.cumberlandnews.co.uk/new...club--dfab1945-2e4f-4cd7-8238-fa0f8f603f8c-ds

Actually I'm fairly upbeat about the latest release. The team is doing well on the pitch and we still have the Potts/Dempsey and soon Anfield money should we need to splash out (assuming, going off his latest pic, Jenkins hasn't spent it all on pies). I've gotten over the disappointment of the Lapping (the genuine) take-over falling through and just want the news that there is no billionaire / will be no take-over to come out so we can stop worrying about whether a certain person is using this to worm his way in and just get on with things.

Jenkins recently said at an awards dinner for a local magazine that the club was best served in local hands, which many took to be an attempt to soften the impact of this whole thing coming to nothing. Now he says it 'might not happen'.

People have been saying Jenkins and Nixon are taking us all for a ride, personally I think they're the ones who have been taken for a ride, but perhaps they're trying now to find a way of coming out of this without admitting they've been had. At some point I expect them to announce the billionaire has lost interest and avoid the embarrassment of having to admit there never was a billionaire.

Nothing on the 'billionaire', but as James Phillips was summing up after the Stevenage away game at the weekend, Andrew Jenkins went into the commentary box and told Philips to 'get behind the club you c**t'.

Didn't hear the comment myself, seems many people didn't hear Jenkins' words clearly, just Phillips apologising for anything that might have been heard on the broadcast.

Don't know who this billionaire is (or if he exists) or who the agent is, but f**k them right up the a**e. They're the root cause of all of this, even though most of the blame falls on our board for following them up the garden path.

it was probably aimed at Phillips for his 2 weeks of Curle Contract pushing which I don't understand the buzz about to be honest.

He hasn't done anything yet for us to be all worried about him going and even if by some pure chance a club came in for him (doubtful again when we've done nothing yet) the manager would go and you only get an extremely small compensation. Non contract means we won't get lumped with paying off 3-4 managers at same time like we did previously.

So you wouldn't be bothered if he left?

I know he hasn't achieved anything yet, but his aim last season was safety, which he achieved with a few games to spare. He has recruited well in the summer, he's got us playing some decent football, and he's got us resembling a proper football club again.

Obviously he has his flaws, but so do most lower-league managers. Plus if he did actually leave, he'd probably be replaced by Olga the Fox with Nixon/Jenkins still running the show.

Even though that's how you feel about Curle as a manager, does it not seem like extremely sloppy running of a club that could be fighting for promotion, to have a manager on a rolling contract?

If Peterborough say fro example had wanted Curle (as he does tick their boxes) do you honestly at all in any way shape or form think a contract would have kept him here???

Paul Simpson....A CARLISLE FAN with a Carlisle family......f*cked off first moment he got. Managers come and managers go, a contract means nothing really.

and football fans are very fickle, he is praised now, he could be slated in 2 months.........I don't personally think a contract is too important and if Curle being taken from us is because he works hard to make us a very solid side then good luck to him for it.

Are you Mullen?

Surely if they're imaginary their name is irrelevant. Might as well be Bruce Wayne, Jeff Tracy or Scrooge McDuck.
He was known as Carver on 1FF until he rightly got banned and is full of shit, you have been warned, even his fellow Carlisle fans hated him

Oh I've seen Carver.

Might still be Mullen though, who is known on our own board for claiming inside knowledge.

Probably wouldn't matter too much, but at least we'd have got some compensation had he left, if we were to tie him down to a contract. I'm sure the Peterborough chairman was looking to get someone in without having to pay compensation (I know that was just one example), so it may put some clubs off.

I agree that not many clubs would look at Curle as a potential target, though I think he's important to us.

The problem with losing Curle might be that Curle has built this squad to play this attacking, open 3-5-2. A different manager might not really know what to do with the squad we have.

We'd lose the 'Mysterious Curle' chant too :(
I think that'd be the real loss here..

I think it sums up the utter fucktardedness of our owners that the last 2 managers they've handed nice long term deals to despite proving themselves to be utter shite (especially Abbott), and now as it looks like we've finally got ourselves a competent manager with good squad of players and a good scout, the clowns in charge have him on a rolling contract.

It's staggering that these idiots have run successful businesses, when you consider they get 99% of decisions wrong when it comes to running the club.

Statement on the 'get behind the club' comment is being made by the chairman in the match programme on Saturday as well as being released on the OS a couple of days after. Looking forward to seeing how he tries to dig himself out of this one, possibly an apology or maybe he'll just call all the fans bellends?

Lummy was just on our forum seemingly suggesting that nobody really knows what he said, James Phillips must've heard it a bit but with all the background noise even he mightn't have been able to make out what he said. Jenkins is both a c*** and a bellend anyway so I wouldn't even slightly put it past him to say those things live on air. Seriously, what a complete dick that man is.

Lummy doesn't think he did say c***... I'm not sure where the c*** came from (insert your own joke here), just speculation on our forum, I thought I was the only one who didn't hear it clearly because I was only half listening to the radio when it was said, but it seems nobody knows exactly what was said.
