1500 Blackburn tickets sold for Saturday. Unless a significant amount POTD it's probably going to be the lowest amount of Rovers fans ever seen for an away game at the DW. The Owen Coyle effect!

Edit: Now 1700 as of close of play today. Still a very poor turnout, hopefully they'll scrape over 2000.

Been confirmed by the Club that Saturday's game against Huddersfield will now definitely be a second tier record for attendance as we're down to the last 50 tickets in the entire stadium. Good to see and no small part played by Huddersfield having sold over 3000 up there in the gods.

We've also got 550+ big f*** off flags in the Gallowgate which will hopefully just add to it all. Hopefully Sissoko will be waving one so at least no one can say that he hasn't contributed to the team.
great support. We hold the record for the 3rd division from the early 70s when over 48k was at the game although I have read sheff weds got very close to that for a game in the 3rd tier. Buy yeah I can see you hitting 50k a few times this year which is unreal I be honest. Just looked and the Sheffield Derby pulled in 49k but it was the old 3rd division north, Bristol city pulled in 51k in the old 3rd division south.

We've never played in the 3rd division North. The 3rd tier record is the Sheffield Derby on Boxing Day 1979

on TV as well. Don't like Norwich as an away day, horrible journey and over priced.

Can't complain about pricing as a Wednesday fan can I? But it is a shitter of a journey.

Without doubt.

Leeds' away support is right up there, but not on the same level as Utd and Liverpool.

Reckon you could add West Ham and Everton in above Leeds as well. Tottenham?

West Ham hahahahahahahah

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhahahahahahahhahha

we finished what 17th the season they got promoted and still beat them with ease

bahahahahahahahaha

Agreed, West Ham and Spurs are very strange ones to add in there. Everton have been decent when I've seen them but no better than any other long standing Prem team - I'd put ourselves above 'em considering how 'relatively' shite we've been over the last decade.

Everton are right up there with Arsenal, Utd, Liverpool for support IMO. Remember them taking over 3k to Swansea for a meaningless League Cup third round game one or two seasons ago. They sell out every away league and FA Cup game as far as I know. Much better away support than Spurs and West Ham. Unlike those two fanbases, Evertonians travel whether their team is in the top 6 or in the relegation zone.

West Ham do have very good away support these days and so do Spurs. Everton have always had top away support on par with Leeds imo. Newcastle don't take as many as they used too to away games but they have been shit for a bit and they travel more miles than anyone. Sunderland have good away support but they mostly take the smaller allocations hence why they sell most games out, but again they travel further than most. We are a funny lot at times but are still one of those clubs that travel well.

Everton have a very loyal fan base. They also travel abroad better than most. They would easily match Leeds for away support if they was in their position.

that's shows how good your away support is really. You have fans all over the country though and West Ham don't,so that does help a little.

Four clubs in this division now with very good away support, no matter how shit their club is, another 3 or 4 who also have excellent away support when the team is successful. Be interesting to see how many average over 2k this season, will be a high number for the second tier. Think Leeds will again top the charts, but will be very close between top 3, hope we can break into top 3, but honestly see us 4th highest numberswise. To me Geordies are always the best at our place, maybe cus for them we are close.

Walkley_Owl do you have our away average for 2007/08? Just curious as to how we travelled when we were half decent in this league, all the other campaign's we haven't challenged top six.

Edit: just worked it out. 1,770 by my calculations. Not bad at all, no massive followings but we consistently took good numbers away that season. Would be great for us to be challenging at the right end of the table again this season and have more away games with big numbers going there to look forward to.

i can see Newcastle taking top spot. Would not surprise me if they also average near 50k for home games if they do well. I think Rotherham are bringing over 2k to villa park today but they haven't sold out. If there is 30k at today's game it will be a good crowd Imo.

I'll be surprised if we take 4 figures to Leeds today, I'm off work and fancied going but I'm not paying nigh on seventy quid for me and my lad to watch two bang average Championship sides. I've just booked for us to go to Wembley to watch England Malta in a World Cup qualifier, tickets & travel still come in lower than the tickets price for this one :lac:

It's been a few years since I've been to Leeds. Last time was when we won 2.1 when we had Merson playing for us. 3 of us were in the Leeds end that day as villa end was sold out in the corner where they used to house away fans.

If we are our usual lower mid table position we will average between 2800 to 3000, if you look at Boro last season they had some massive away followings and still only averaged 2500 odd (I think Villa will be around that mark) If Newcastle are up there they will break 3000 yet only averaged 3100 when they were last down here when they pissed the league,

we will average more than that if we are doing well. If we are going for promotion it will hit the 3k barrier.
