If you ever start challenging the playoffs / promotion you'd sell out midweek at Blackburn imo.

Its strange we have have Fulham and Blackburn in midweek but will take more to Fulham because its the only time our non members can go somewhere in big numbers.

Yes but bubble trips don't count no one can be blamed for not going. Anyway you'll probably sell the 2k as I would of thought just surprised how low you thought. Nailed on loss for you now Neil's there though
Late re-arrangement, Friday night and on the box mate, didn't expect it. We'll sell it out now, but yeah it's a nailed on loss now Colin's managing them.

I see we are being underestimated, time will tell I suppose but we will go very close again my only worry is the waste of an away end playing Blackburn in midweek but all the rest of the big away ends we will fill easily
I wouldn't say
Your being underestimated. You easily have the best set of away fans in this league.

As a Villa fan I'm a bit embarrassed by the club putting out **** about us being the biggest followers in land. To be fair any decent size club coming down to the Championship for the 1st time in a while will get large followings. It's the clubs who have been down here a while and still get large followings that deserve respect. Step forward Leeds United. The fact we didn't sell out Barnsley and will probably not sell out Reading is the true reflection of where we are as a set of away fans. I do wonder how many people on here actually go to away games.
our away support depends on form. Teams like Leeds and Everton don't rely on form so much. If we were doing well we would probably sell out everywhere but I think there will be a few games this season that we don't sell out. Also although we could never keep up the numbers Leeds have over the years I still think our away support would remain big. I never go away by the way :bg:

I'm not under estimating your support mate, I think you will "only" have 2nd or 3rd best numbers this season, but also think if Villa and Newcastle had been down here for 10+ years without a sniff of the playoffs, never mind automatic promotion, their numbers would be nearer ours than yours. Although I don't expect you to be top numbers this season, it would still come as no surprise to me if you did pull it off again. No lover of Leeds but anybody with any knowledge of football has to admit you always take great numbers everywhere.

You've got us away last game of the season. We wouldn't do it due to the police probably, but if we had nothing to play for and you had to get a result to make the playoffs, I'd give you lot the East Stand as the away end rather than the North Stand like we used to do before we got to the Prem. That'd give you 3k more than the usual away allocation so 8k overall.

We had 60 fans for the academy game at Crewe for that bollocks L1/2 Cup we're in...

Need everything we can get to overtake Leeds' away attendance total.

Hard to argue that our away support relies heavily on form when we haven't won away since August 2015. Add to that we've consistently been one of the most dreadful sides in any league over the past 5 seasons.
Re: Preston figures. It sold out weeks before and I tried to get a ticket the day before and was informed there were no returns so I can only assume some didn't make it through the turnstile. The club must be doing a West Ham and going on tickets sold rather than numbers in the ground.

it's the new ground thing though, hence why we are taking big numbers. In the prem we took good support for how shit we were, but you could name a number of clubs who would of taken better support in our position. Barnsley would of sold out if we was having a good run, but because of our form it wasn't close to selling out. It will be the same with a number of games this season.

Off the top of my head, I can only remember Newcastle, Sunderland, Leeds, Wednesday & Villa selling the full kop while in this league.

Wolves weren't far off on the opening day in League One either.

That's obviously excluding local clubs like the Dingles and Plastics.

Our games against Leeds and Norwich are on tv. Norwich on a Tuesday night and Leeds remains on Saturday 5.30 KO. If we take 2k to Norwich I'd be surprised.

Received an extra 196 seats for Barnsley to take us up to 5696 (if we sell them of course).

Both October games now sold out with 5700 at Barnsley and 5500 at Preston. Will do us well in the averages.

Cracking followings the novelty soon where's off with you lot though. Plenty of games in the premier league where you havent even taken the full 3k allocations over the last few years. Liverpool,Everton,Chelsea, arsenal, spurs. Although I suppose ticket prices played a big part in fairness.

The prices in this division to follow your team are now higher than the Premier League for the most part...

I completely agree with you but there are certain factors to consider. I know it's all relative and you can throw anything at me with your Leeds, Sheff Wed and Forest's but losing every single week and seeing the football we have displayed over the last few years isn't exactly a catalyst for massive away followings. Under Pardew for example we lost by more than 3 or 4 goals 14 times in a calendar year - travelling the length and breadth of the country at £48 a pop wears thin.

There's only leeds who imo you couldn't compete with in similar circumstances you would still average more than any others in the same scenario.

Have Leeds always travelled well? I weren't about in the 70s or 80s but I assume they did. they are in a different league to us and Newcastle, although you have to respect the Geordies for the miles they travel. Newcastle will piss the averages this season due to their form and the new ground novelty, but I imagine Leeds won't be too far behind which is more impressive with the years they have been out of the premier. I've never considered Sheffield Wednesday, forest, wolves to have better away support than villa or Newcastle tbf, and that's no disrespect to those clubs, as they are all great clubs with solid support.

If you spent 10/15 years out of the Prem I doubt your away support would be any different to the likes of Sheff Wed. Our away support has been poor for a number of years, bar the league 1 season where we had the attraction novelty of new grounds.

900 at Liverpool last season, or was it the season before. It was midweek though, and Liverpool away is not cheap. As far as we were concerned, our ticket office got into a bad habit of only taking the smaller allocations for some games when we easily could if sold the full. But that was another factor which saw us operating from a big club to a small club. Paying low wages, taking smaller allocations, basically acting like we were west brom. And here we are now acting like a big club again but struggling in the championship.

maybe your right, but as far as I can remember even when they were in the prem we were better supported. We are a better supported club than Sheffield Wednesday, so that would explain that.

In the last 15 years barring leeds. I'd say Wednesdays away support is definitely the best for numbers considering how shit they've been up until last year. Not a lot between forest, Wolves, and Sheff Utd you 2 both just edge us imo then derby have picked up recently but nowt special before that.

Tbf Sheffield Wednesday have surprised me a bit with their away support in the lower leagues. you could probably say we would do well to keep up with their numbers. Always had a soft spot for wednesday and Everton for some reason.

blues v villa has now had its capacity reduced to 25k on safety grounds. For crying out loud, what do they think it is. Absolute joke.

When we play them at our place I bet we are not allowed full capacity for that. They will not allow us to open the upper tier of the trinity road. Saying that though it will do well to sell out in our form.
