Stickied Championship - Away Support Thread 2024/25

In the last 15 years barring leeds. I'd say Wednesdays away support is definitely the best for numbers considering how shit they've been up until last year. Not a lot between forest, Wolves, and Sheff Utd you 2 both just edge us imo then derby have picked up recently but nowt special before that.

Very honest opinion, think its about right too. Would be interesting to what Villa and Newcastle would get if they had the last 16 years we have had or the Last 10 years you have had. Not sure if you call it loyalty or stupidity in Sheffield to be honest, but both clubs het great numbers considering the crap that's been served up. As you say though Leeds(for various reasons) are on a different level to everyone else outside PL.

Great football city is Sheffield. Is Leeds a football city? To a degree yes, but it's similar to Birmingham imo. Leeds have fans everywhere, so that helps.

Yeah they've got very good away support Sheff United. As someone has already suggested, right up there with Wolves, Forest etc....all things being equal.

He's adamant that Sheff Utd are.

Never ever travelled well to Bristol I think 800 on the Tuesday night is the most we've took in about 5 visits. Our average is on a par with Wolves and Forest so make what you want of that to decide if it's good or not

not sure I've discussed the bigger club argument on here, but I maybe wrong. Anyway imo I'd go with Sheffield United but not by much. Both have great sets of fans.

the other season they were one of the best set of away fans at ours for a long time.

I was thinking more distant. Most fans will travel well to you. They only have to travel an hour and a half too. I've never associated numbers with United like I do Wednesday. My mistake it seems.

You're right tbf mate they travel much better than us all year we travel very well when we get a slight chance we think we're doing ok

That'll be it then, you've been struggling for a while now. That god forsaken league is a bitch to get out off. I can't say I really pay much attention to any league other than the one City are in anymore. Not sure why as I used to watch any game but not really interested these days. You got a chance this year?

it was an fa cup game mind. Over the course of a season I suppose it depends on how well they are doing. No comparison with Wednesday really.

I'd say Pompey, everyone around here is a Pompey fan. The city has it's own unique identity and that transcends into the football club as well. I wouldn't even class United as the biggest team in Sheffield, though that's not to say that they aren't a big club.

We're not the biggest team in sheffield I think that's quite obvious. Not a great deal in it like.

They had played there 3 times just over a year before. Wednesday took about 12k to Wembley for the FA Cup final replay against arsenal In the 90s they must be smaller too.
