I loathe people who criticise others for not attending football matches despite the ridiculously extortionate prices for the luxury nowadays.

Load of bollox if they honestly couldn't afford it then fair enough but I don't think I know a single person who can't afford to go to a football match. We don't live in a fucking poverty stricken country jj. Obviously people can't afford to go week in week out but certainly could afford a few games and imo they choose not to go unless it's at Wembley or a big cup game yet do nothing but act like the there big supporters of the club , there is loads that do it. The ones that really fucking piss me off are ones that take the piss when we lose yet haven't been for fucking 10 years.

No we don't, but we live in a country where many individuals/families have had financial issues over the last 10 years.

Yeah I agree that people could make a few games a season, but for people that have had ST's in the past but no longer can afford it, why are they frowned upon?

We all love going to football, it's not people avoiding it out of choice.

It is people avoiding it out of choice then talk about there clubs like they go every week. On this forum I bet about half never go. Same in any boozer walk in my local and there's people giving it all blades aren't we or all Wednesday aren't we yet they literally never ever go and try winding people up that do go. If you don't ever go just because you can't be arsed you're not a fan it's as simple as that to me. Obviously people who'd love to go but can't through work or other circumstances then fair enough (however me personally would find a different job ). If you go to a few games because thats all you can afford that's fair enough that's the best you can do. But seriously like I said I know no one who couldnt afford £20/30/40. 3 or 4 times over 9 months , this is England not fucking bangladesh.

2773 for Leeds sold out. It sold out on 3+ aways this season. Luckily I got mine this morning. On the subject of affording football, it's not just the price but it's also the time. I have 3 young kids. im the only earner so as you can imagine things can be tight, but some Saturday's I have to work and then I have to make time for my kids at weekend. The days where villa was my priority are long gone. I said I wanted to do 8 aways this season but can't see it myself. Been a season ticket holder on and off for years. Anyway.

It's easy to say that you'd find a different job if you're not in the situation and struggling for money though. I'd like to think I would as well because going to the football is the highlight of my week. Football's obviously a luxury and people have other priorities.

I agree with you, if people can't be arsed to go then yeah that's poor, but people can't be criticised for not having the time or money.

Football and sporting events in general in this country and worldwide are the reason I go to work. I work to live not live to work like some boring twats.

I admire your passion blademan. I sometimes long for those days where it was all football beer and pussy, but life changes. I'm no less passionate about villa than someone who goes every week.

Thank you.

As someone who is unemployed, caring for their partner, and can't find a job that can accommodate that, I do apologise that I am not a 'proper fan' according to others.

But then, hey, what is life without judging others whilst knowing fuck all about their personal circumstances, eh?

Was on about this with a lad at work the other day who was whinging about the price of football and how he can't afford to go anymore, yet then he'll smoke 20 fags a day. It's about lifestyle choices, it's not as expensive as it's made out to be either.

He clearly wasn't on about people in your circumstances.

Clearly people should ask personal circumstances then before posting on an internet forum.

Not being a proper fan was associated with people who can't be arsed to go so obviously with what youve said that's not to do with you so stop making a thing out of you're life.

I go to Deepdale nowhere near as much as I used to.

I've been all over the shop, home and abroad watching football for the past 20yrs. Truth is, I don't enjoy football as much nowadays. I think the whole experience of home games is a bit shit and I'd rather do other things. Simple as that really.

That's not to say I don't follow the ins and outs of the club, every single day. My passion for the name of Preston North End is as strong as it always has been (If I encounter a Lasher, shit's going dooowwwn fam) - I could still sit and chat about PNE with a superfan season ticket holder, 'til we're blue in the face.

I think just because I don't have a duvet cover with footballs on, or go to work in shin pads and football boots, I'm no less of a fan than anyone else, or don't deserve to have my say on the club.

Saying that, I do still enjoy the away days, on the beers and having a bit of a mooch.

Been on Deepdale only twice this season. Gone out of the house intending to attend a couple more; but once in town, in the pubs etc....decided to stay there instead of heading to the ground for 3pm.

#ShitFan.

Exactly what I have done many of times. You're really not getting the point are you. You are a fan. I said people who can't be arsed to go for no reason aren't fans.

Ah, so choosing the pub over your team is better than choosing (quite often) the pub over your team, as long as the initial intention was to go in the first place?

What about people who work weekends, is that a sufficient excuse?

People with kids at home who work all week?

Just curious as to the guidelines here.

Despite any circumstances if you wanna go to the football there is always a way it's a simple as that.

No we don't, but we live in a country where many individuals/families have had financial issues over the last 10 years.

Whilst I agree with your sentiment aren't you 17? I doubt you have any financial hardship tbh.
