Only time I don't go on the train is boxing day and Tuesday night games if the train isn't available. I hate going any other way and it's certainly not expensive on the train if you have a bit of common sense. Pay on the day with a railcard is all I ever do anyway. £55 for train and tube it will be for Charlton next week you can't grumble at that.

I always drive to Grimsby away games as I take my 10 year old with me every time now so drinking is not an option for me anymore.
We always still manage to make a great day of it though as we always set off early enough to get there and have a mooch around (normally between 5 and 7 of us), although at Mansfield me my lad and 2 others had a wander around while the other 3 fucked off to the ground really early just to get a drink as it was an early kick off and no pubs were open when we got there.
I guess trains would be a good crack though so I can see why so many of you go for that, but I will stick to my car as I am a tightwad! :gr:

My lad is also 10 mate, he's been coming the away games on the train with me for years, there's a group of normally about 9 of us go with the kids in tow, we always pre-plan to find a pub (if we don't already have one) with a garden/park so the lads can have a kick about while we have a few scoops. My little 'un lives for the London days out, the whole adventure of tube hopping etc he loves it. He's done something like 50 away games across 20 odd stadiums so far, and we've just booked up to do Dortmund next year.

It always surprises me reading this thread just how many of you seem to go to aways by train when driving usually works out much cheaper, especially if you take a car load and split the petrol money.
It will be to do with being able to get pissed on the train then I guess?!
Could have gone in car a lot cheaper, but due to circumstances will not be attending half as many away matches as normal, so want to make a day out of the ones I go to. A lot more fun on train imo.

I think point no.1 is a valid enough reason by itself.

I'm shocked to see we've sold out Newcastle within 5 hours of general sale, I hadn't bothered getting a ticket yet I didn't think for a minute we'd sell 2k let alone 2.5k a fortnight before Christmas, another allocation of 600 coming next week.

Charging Newcastle 25 quid for their Wednesday night jaunt to our gaff. Don't understand that, we should be fleecing them for the full 30 quid knowing they'll bring a guaranteed 5k.

Very very poor way of thinking that. Fans come before extra money.

Couldn't care less, especially when it comes to that mob. No doubt in the return game they'll throw us up in the gods and still charge us more than we've charged them.

Wigan fans were great today. The football on show was horrific from both teams but they were in good voice throughout and their joining in with the tribute to Patrick Cryne went down very well with the home fans.

Nah, it's alright as long as you're not in the top tier of the new north stand.

It's not a bad following from wolves considering the form they are in. Molinuex is a lovely ground but the away end is shite. I was in the bottom tier of the new north stand last time I went.

More than decent following from Wolves that yesterday. About the same as you'll be taking to Wolves next saturday

Ah right. And then complain (or not turn up) when done back to your team ?
Actually I'm sure it's because certain teams started demanding reciprocal arrangements and fair play on prices. At least the usual hypocritical crap from numerous teams having A B and C brackets. Newcastle always in most expensive A bracket along with Man U, Liverpool everywhere and then getting "you're not a big club" crap in return !!!! :fl:
