Just read that Cardiff may be after Warnock? Him and Slade just wouldn't work would it as I can't see Colin working under anybody!
Meant to be proper good pals them two. If that dinosaur was to be appointed then I'd give my season ticket back. Some of the names the local rag are branding about are just brilliant as well.

I don't doubt they are friends Dai, I just couldn't see Colin working WITH anybody. He's his own man after all and it would hardly be a long term appointment. Who else is being linked then?

TBH I don't think whoever comes in will be working under Slade, seems like we have made up a job for him just so we don't look like total c*** and sack him.

Probably the best one so far is Moyes, I'm sure he would love working at this basket case of a club, taking orders from a villain from a superhero movie. Other mentions are Rodgers, Pearson, Pulis, Sherwood. Tomorrow Martinez name will probably be spread across the back pages as well.

Warnock's torn at the moment. He wants to manage us, he's loved it, loved the players and their enthusiasm, even Sharon wants him to stay here and said so in her open letter to fans.

At the same time though he wants another promotion in his final season to break the record he's currently sharing and officially be the most successful football league manager ever.

Problem he's got is the likes of Cardiff, Forest, Villa etc... Would give him a fair crack at the promotion but I'm not so sure they'd accommodate him, he spends the final days of the week in Rotherham on the training ground and obviously at a game but spends the rest of the week at home and I don't see those teams being half as accommodating as what we are.

In the end I think he'll have to settle with us and who knows we might be his last and most unlikely promotion.

You get the best out of Warnock when he's with Blackwell.

I do wonder if his wifes illness might play heavily on him? Although she is telling him to do X,Y or Z, when push comes to shove, wouldn't we all put family first?
I wish him and his good lady well regardless.

She's been about the club a lot recently and she's looking well.

The reason he's decided to have another year is because she's having her final bouts of treatment at would be the start of the season and then recovering afterwards, so because of that she's told him to have another year because he's 'useless around the house' but I think it's mainly for him to have something else to focus on.

Obviously he cares about her and his family more than football but for those final days of a week I think it's his escape from it all and it's a bit if a welcome relief to em, hence probably why we've done so well.

F*** me Cardiff, you really don't have a clue with managers do you?

Trollope is a great guy and undoubtedly an incredible coach, but can't manage to save his life. Put your money on Cardiff going down next season lads :£

What a strange appointment. Has Trollope got any managerial experience?

Was first team coach here with Lennie Lawrence as DoF from 2005 (?) to 2009, did well and took us from bottom half L2 to top half L1 in a league with Southampton, Norwich, Leeds, Millwall, Charlton etc. etc. so a good job.

Then Lawrence was relieved of his duties (stupidly in part due to fans, in part due to cutting the budget, in part due to PT wanting more contol presumably), and we slipped. Ended up 21st in the league after a few months and Trollope was sacked.

His recruitment was fairly poor, and the football towards the end was pretty dull. HOWEVER, that was over 5 years ago. He's been assistant at some good clubs now, so we'll see how he does.

Really hope it goes well for Trolls. He's a good bloke and a good coach, started off exceptionally for him and he gave us some good times.

That being said, I'd be surprised if it did go well. He'll have Slade as his safety blanket and he needs that, he flopped the minute Lennie Lawrence left. People said it was a mistake that we sacked him because we fell down the leagues after but in all honesty he started that rot with very silly contract and player decisions. Destroyed a good team with mercenary players after a pay check. Not the best tactically but he can get the most out of players, just don't let him make decisions on who he brings in. As said above, style of football won't be great but can get results.

Wonder if we see Rickie Lambert at Cardiff next season, wouldnt be a surprise.

Wow, somethings gone off.

Put it this way I saw the article confirming he was staying ready to upload to the official website this morning.

Bring back Steve or relegate us now.

From the outside, it appeared that LL was pulling the strings and Trollope did the public stuff. He was hopeless when Lawrence left.
Under Tan, he could be gone by August!

I know it's been said a thousand times, but what an achievement it has been by Warnock, and he leaves us with plenty of well wishes. Much the same as all of us, I would have liked him to stay and make us a competitive mid-table side, but due to his short time with us, we now have a far better list of applicants(It's pretty much safe to assume) than we did when releasing Redfearn and League One bound.

We are a Football Club with minimal debt. A fantastic Stadium playing our Football in the 2nd tier. A Chairmen who supports his Manager and on the whole a club that feels connected to its community(See Leeds, Cardiff, Blackburn etc. for the opposite). This is a great opportunity for someone.

I would like an experienced Manager. Someone who knows the Championship but also has a track record of success. My choice would be Neil Lennon(Has any club ever had 3 consecutive Neil's on the trot??). Other than that, Stuart Gray is an option. Maybe Malkay McKay.

I know we'll get it right.

LL wasn't perfect, but he was a good foil for Trollope. Trollope lost him, then Lambert and by then had chosen to get rid of the spine of the side that had gotten us up and replaced with injury prone, highly paid mercenaries who weren't really even good footballers, the only way was down from there.

I'm not going to lie and say he had it easy. Anyone who had to work with Higgs had an upwards struggle on their hands, but he couldn't bemoan the budget and although we got promoted in his reign, if he stayed any longer we also would have went down.

He's got the break of a lifetime getting this job though, hopefully he's learned in his time away and he can make a good go of it, he's not a complete dead end as he is a very good coach. But Cardiff had him as a coach anyway, so I don't feel they've gained much at all by this appointment.
