The Stoke fans seem to want that, on the basis that if you win, you'll be too embarrassed to brag about it, while if they win they'll have bragging rights forever.
I guess so, it is a no win situation for us.
Win 5-0 it is their reserves, lose and we would be rightly slaughtered.

Work mates who support Lard are definitely not bothered nor am i .

When Sam Clucas at 6 million quid uses the Carlisle game to get match fitness and that noted young prospect Gareth Barry ( aged 37 ) are playing the other night in the Competition it is descending into a farce.

A couple of years ago, Blackburn U21's named Wes Brown in their squad against us, who had all but retired by that point and had signed for them mainly as a coach.

Are Newcastle U21's through? Them v Sunderland would be worth seeing, just for the almighty meltdown the Mackems will have, though sadly it would also be a pretty big attendance because neither of those two are interested in the politics of football and will pretty much turn out in huge numbers for any game between them.

Stoke have always played big names in it, Charlie Adam featured a couple of years back and Muniesa I believe Crouch may have also.

Yeah Bojan and Crouch played against us 2 years ago and then Charlie Adam, Afellay, Berahino and Martins-indi all played last year but we beat them 3-1 with one of our worst teams in living memory.

Thankfully we can't draw Newcastle U21s in the next round as we both topped our groups.

Could draw Walsall for what would be our 3rd game in 10 days in 3 seperate competitions, so that'd be something to put in your calendar.

Off to get my ticket now, oh hang on it's an Emmerdale double bill that night.

We have everything to lose they have everything to gain.

Vale 5 Lard 0 ..well it's only our kids plus Fat boy Charlie

Vale 0 Lard 1....you are shite you lost to our kids.

Joke of a competition .

Only thing is we generally make 6-7 changes so unlikely to be our first team even if they beat us... although in saying that we have a free weekend being out the FA Cup so Aspin may be tempted....

Loser will be the boycott as can see them travelling for it in half decent numbers and a lot of our fans will no doubt want to go as it has been 16 long years since we last faced off... (What a day that was... Walsh with the long throw... Cummins heads it....)

I get what you are saying but i think if we have 2000 or 8000 it makes no jot of difference.

As our esteemed leader said about Sunderland, it will pay half a months wage bill.

Nothing will trickle down to Aspin to spend, it will just go into the 'running' of the club or the ' running ' of a Tesla.

I was more hoping we would get the usual 600 for this!

Apparently Stoke sold over 1000 tickets within a hour of going on sale this morning.... be more of them than us.

Shows the desperation of their fans to get one over us in a reserve game!

I can see why they have, perfect opportunity for them to rub our noses in it and it's really a win-win situation for them regardless of the result. Feared this would happen the moment we drew them, just hope as few Vale fans as possible choose to dignify this game by attending.

Caused a big debate on OVF with the word Scabs being thrown around as to those who go!

Not particularly language I'd use myself but agree with the wider point being made this is setting a dangerous precedent. Turns out Stoke have actually sold almost 2000 and applied for a further 1800. In a way it's kind of amusing the way they are falling over themselves to get tickets for this. If they were so desperate to see their under 23's and our reserves all they have to do is turn up for a Staffs Senior Cup tie. New Tesla for Smurthwaite incoming I guess.

Stoke are THAT team that literally no one gives a toss about other than their own.

Hopefully they fill your ground and none of you bother, that will send a message out to that c*** Shaun Harvey.

Be far more of them than us but it means so much more to them, rightly we are boycotting the competition and many say the same.

For them its no lose, they win they take the piss, they lose it was their kids so gives them chance with no pressure to try and avenge all those failed Derbies of the 00's and late 90's.

Point being though even if they win it is highly likely to be our second string anyway in the main... Aspin has said he wont change from his policy of 5,6,7,8 changes of previous games.

Real Derbies were something else... unreal atmosphere... this is nothing more than the equivalent of the Staff Senior Cup ties.

It won't though, he'll just see all the Stokies packed into the stadium and use it as an example of how great this cup competition is. The Potteries derby is an obvious rigged draw.

Rumours that we will give them the Paddock too which means there could potentially be 9000 plus there.

Either way it’s likely to be a mess, pay on the gate is in force so Sjoke fans will just go in the home ends if sold out and just be loads of unwanted bother.

May also pressure Aspin into playing the full squad to avoid the risk of defeat.

Whatever happens, I certainly won't be there. The sooner this farcical competition ends the better.

It’s made an embarrassment of a situation for us that’s for sure.
