I enjoy reading these tables, it covers up how shit we are in reality.
Yeah, and us. It's surprising we have such a fanbase given how shit we've been and still are for the entirety of our history.I enjoy reading these tables, it covers up how shit we are in reality.

I'm not on about next season - we haven't dipped below 10k averages since the turn of the Millenium and we've had one good year at this level, the rest we've either been lurking around the bottom half of this division or in the god awful third tier.New stadiums/revamps always pull excellent attendances the first season, and sometimes for two or three. Same happened with Brighton.

I cant remember any crowd under 10,000 since then to be honest, certainly not in the last 10 years.I'm not on about next season - we haven't dipped below 10k averages since the turn of the Millenium and we've had one good year at this level, the rest we've either been lurking around the bottom half of this division or in the god awful third tier.
How many more fans than Preston do we have to have before we get to be bigger than them? 1.5 times obviously not enough.
We average more than clubs who have decent histories at the highest level. The fact we can get together 50,000 for a piss pot final, sell out the PO final against Hull in less than a day etc..."Such a fanbase" what fanbase is that? We've only averaged over 15k twice in 35 years.
Oh come off it.Agreed, we're not bigger than Preston, we may have a bigger fanbase but you've done far more historically.
Preston has 1/4 of the people living in it than Bristol does. Yes, we have a bigger fanbase - but I wouldn't say we're a bigger club than them because of the very little we've achieved.Oh come off it.
They barely scrap 10,000 in a Championship play off chase and 20,000 for a Wembley final!

Swindon average about 7k though, there's usually never more than a few thousand between us and PNE.Bigger fanbase is the number 1 criteria to me. Or are Swindon a bigger club because they won the League Cup 50 years ago?

Ah, you're the Bristol City fan who has an irrational dislike for North end. It's sweet.
It was closer to 30k but don't let facts get in the way, you can put that down to our complete apathy towards the play-offs. 9 consecutive defeats can do that... and what do Wembley followings count for? Gillingham take 40k+. All it shows is the amount of extra townfolk with no affinity to the football club who fancy a day out in London. Or else every club in the country would be averaging about 30k.
Though it shouldn't be as Preston are 1/4 the size of Bristol, but plastic fans fucking ruin it for usExactly. A hell of a lot of c*** that live in Bristol. That's why we take so many to Wembley. Our actual fanbase is pretty much the same as yours.
That's always been the thing with Bristol City - the potential has always been there, we'd sell out AG in a heartbeat every week in the top flight, but we need to get there again before we become a relatively decent sized club to reflect a massive city.Exactly. 800k to 1m? Closer to 600k palDear god, is it time for this already? Can't we wait until the season has actually finished?
I genuinely could not give a shit who's 'bigger' and what that actually means. It's more about who's successful for me.
For City, we have everything in place to become 'bigger' but it remains to be seen if we can make that happen. Our season card sales up to now, would suggest the supporter base IS growing so that's a positive.
With a city the size of Bristol (urban population of 800,000 - 1M) to have 2 clubs where they are is pretty damn poor TBH. Unfortunately, Bristolians, by nature, would clamour to watch a Premier league Bristol side but have little interest in helping us get there, that does appear to be changing slowly though.

22k wasn't it?
Yes it was 22,000 in a crowd of 48,000. Which means Swindon took more.
Compared to 42,000 City fans at the bloody JPT.
No contest in my opinion.
Wrong! As shown by TTOCS.800k to 1m? Closer to 600k pal
