I've never heard of Andy Cook, though it's very pleasing Tranmere have signed a player people on this site rate. Wouldn't suprise me if Norwood joins a football league club and Cook is his replacement.
That would be a shame, I was hoping Norwood would be the legs and Cook would be the poacher. I think they'd work well together.

Norwood is going nowhere. He's having banter with Cook on twitter about which of them will be taking our pens next season.

Yeah I had a chat to Norwood outside Wembley at the Play-Off Final and he sounded pretty happy at Tranmere. Think he would have gone to a League club when he left us if one was offering him what he wanted.

We were rumoured to be interesting it bringing Cook back. (He came through our youth system).

Glad we didn't. We've got Ibehre and Wyke who are similar type players but proven at League 2 level. We need a different type of forward to go with those two.

I had FGR dead set on smashing the league next season but now I'm giving you lot the edge. Great, great signing. He'll bag you 20 before he even breaks a sweat.

In all seriousness if he does well for Tranmere I think it's time he gets rightly considered as one of the best strikers in the league. He's done it season after season, see no reason he shouldn't there if he plays regularly.

Tranmere should have been challenging FGR and Cheltenham for the title last season. Norwood and Mangan were signings of the Cook mould.

They didn't because of that fat joke of a manager.

FGR still favourites for me.

Another 2 year contract handed out at Gateshead with Danny Johnson re-signing.

How much money do Gateshead have?

I think that they're using the length of the contract rather than the size of it as a bargaining tool to try to lure more players up north as relocating up here on a 1 year deal would probably put a fair few off straight away.

Ben Clappison signs on a two year deal, hot on the heels of Ben Barber yesterday too.

Solihull going full-time?
That's the reason Fylde are losing players to teams like Salford and Altrincham.
No, there are no plans for us to go full time. Our website is saying that Nottingham had to move up north, but I'm not sure how true this actually is as Salford will be paying him a lot more than we were. We need to ensure we don't lose any more key members of our title winning side.

May have missed it on here, but haven't York also signed Whittle from Fylde? They've lost a lot of their best players this summer.

You won't get many from the Wirral disagreeing with you on that one!

We've signed Lindon Meikle from Alfreton. No surprise there - would've had him in January but couldn't play for three clubs in this league in one year.
Bit disappointed as it'll mean Andy Howarth is pushed out of the side, and he was brilliant towards the end of the season.
Meikle is a Cox favourite, but is he still good enough for a club with play-off ambitions?

Must have paid a few whack as he was under contract with us till Jan.

Not that disappointed to be brutally honest. He started fantastically but as the season went on he seemed to lose interest and was pretty poor in the last few weeks of the season.
Meikle played most weeks for us but as I say he did seem to run out of steam. Dont think he is good enough for a play -off side in the Premier. More lower midtable.

Dont expect him to be an improvement on Howarth.

We are to announce a new signing (his replacement) tomorrow
