We've signed Will Evans (Eastleigh)... versatile CB?

Looked good against us at their place. Big and strong and a good age. Decent signing imo.

Like most cb's at this level not the quickest, but definitely quicker then Oliver so an improvement on what you had.

We've signed Lindon Meikle from Alfreton. No surprise there - would've had him in January but couldn't play for three clubs in this league in one year.
Bit disappointed as it'll mean Andy Howarth is pushed out of the side, and he was brilliant towards the end of the season.
Meikle is a Cox favourite, but is he still good enough for a club with play-off ambitions?
I don't know if it will push Howarth out of the team even though Cox has managed him before - I see him more as a replacement for Pilkington - with the 2 battling it out for one place in the team.
We have also re-signed Andy Parry and Alex-Ray Harvey.
All 3 are on 1 year deals with a further year triggered by appearances...

Must have paid a few whack as he was under contract with us till Jan.

Not that disappointed to be brutally honest. He started fantastically but as the season went on he seemed to lose interest and was pretty poor in the last few weeks of the season.
Meikle played most weeks for us but as I say he did seem to run out of steam. Dont think he is good enough for a play -off side in the Premier. More lower midtable.

Dont expect him to be an improvement on Howarth.

We are to announce a new signing (his replacement) tomorrow
Miekle had a release clause in his contract for if a club higher up the leagues wanted him (according to our local paper)

There would still have been a fee involved though. The Alfreton chairman seems to have confirmed that a fee was agreed on Twitter.

If it's the same tweet I saw, it could have intimated that his (considerable) wages have been freed up.

Wasn't sure where to post this... But was just reading BBC Sport and saw Eastleigh released Jack Midson.. Is it true he scored ZERO goals in FORTY games for Eastleigh last season?

Yeah. Typical Mr. Bradley, writing in riddles and being very unclear. The way I read it is we have released him from his contract.

Hoping the replacement is Paul Clayton who was released from Harrogate yesterday.

That's not too bad, James McKeown played 45 league games for us last season and scored 0.

Aarran Racine signs two yr deal. Was out of contract and being chased by quite a few League & Conference clubs so happy with that. Made captain as well, with Pipey gone. Will probably enjoy not having to hoof it forward under Cooper as he is actually one of the best centre backs on the ball in this league.

Great news, quality long serving player who leads by example and I'm delighted he has survived the Pennock era, along with Bennett and Kelly (hopefully).

In a footballing side I'm sure he'll flourish even more, as you say he's actually very good on the ball which is something which was rarely if ever seen under AP's hoof ball tactics.

Like the sound of what Cooper's setting up, seems like it will be with 3 at the back and a more passing/possession based game.

Won't his replacement be a winger not a target man?

Key word there - "Hoping". It could well (and most probably will be a like for like replacement) but their is no second guessing Wayne who has hinted strongly that the fans will like the new signing, leading me to think of Clayts.

Struggling to believe this! He said he wouldn't sign for any other Conference club, so I imagine these must be some good wages!
I can only imagine Cox has told him that we've already signed his replacement...
Footballer in saying one thing and doing another shocker.

Really? My brother would never have a say in my life, can't imagine JJ being any different.
The other day when asked about his plans Connor mentioned that he had to wait to see what his brother and Dad said first. Was a bit odd but maybe they are a 'very close' family or something?

Wow that is odd. Perhaps they're like those dodgy foreign taxi-drivers that share a drivers licence, so they can't live too far away!

Possibly the worst defender I saw down at Woking last season (excluding one or two of our own, of course).

Can only echo the comment above and it's not just because Aldershot have signed him. I'm pretty sure on my season review on here I said he was the worst player I'd seen. I guess Aldershot don't intend to play it out from the back next season.

Edit to the post above.

Worst opposition player: Will Evans of Eastleigh. HOOOOOOOOOF.

I did say he was the worst player I'd seen last season.

We've signed Will Evans - what did you think about him when he was at Eastleigh?

Gutted to see Will go tbh.
A big strong lad who fights for every ball, Good on the ball, but sometimes wants to do too much in dangerous areas. Hits a lovely diagonal ball to the front men, but plays it too often.
A good lad and a good Pro, will do well for you.

Mark Roberts was decribed by the Cod Heads as a hoofer. This weekend he will be playing for a place in the Championship with Barnsley.

I really rated Roberts when he was with you lot. Perhaps that just shows what little knowledge Grimsby fans have.
