Carlisle or Hartlepool.... very good signing for Tranmere - now all they need is a manager that knows how to get the best out of him...
I guess that's Rhead going to Barrow then ;)

As I said before, a decent offer around £30-40k and I imagine he will leave Lincoln. Rumour was 20k was the figure Cox offered last season.

To be fair these are classic Brabin tactics. He needs a year to work out who the best players in the league are, then he'll throw money at them.

Unfortunately for Tranmere you'll still have Brabin In charge. Once he's gone you might get up.

If Tranmere go and get Harvey in as boss, with the squad they're building, they'll win the title.

Cook, Norwood, Bowman and Jennings is a pretty damn good attacking line up.

Brabin's doing a Cox at Mansfield (and probably like he'll end up doing at Barrow over the next couple of years). Kid in a sweetshop stuff.

I dread to think what they are paying Cook to prise him away from Barrow. Highest paid player in the league I'd imagine?

To be fair, and to stay on topic, only two of those are confirmed Tranmere players. The other two might come, but they may not. No chickens being counted here.

Next season's top three:
1. Tranmere
2. Gateshead
3. Boreham Wood
4. Going For It

Has Tubbs signed on at Eastleigh yet?
But yeah, £2,000 must be the absolute minimum they're paying him.

I'd be surprised if it was that high. That would be almost 10% of our stated budget on one player. With McNulty, Norwood and Scott Davies here, then he's probably not even in the top 3 at our club.

Well it'll be more than the £1,500 we were supposedly offering.

Is it win or bust time for Brabin? Surely you've got to be looking to win the title, is he really good enough for that?

We've found to our cost in the last few years that you can spunk as much money up the wall in this league on top players you like, but you'll win fuck all without a quality manager.

£1500 sounds about right, that's what Norwood is apparently on.

It may not be. I don't know, but I'm almost certain McNulty will be the highest paid at the club. Anyone after him could go in any order. Not saying we haven't offered more though. Just doubt it would be that high.

The fans are looking to win the title (we were last season), but he's going on about 'in and around the playoffs'. If Brabin starts badly next year, I'd be surprised if he's here by Christmas. Last chance saloon for him from the Chairman I feel (he's lost a lot of the fans already).

We've signed Andy Cook from Barrow. Two year deal. Announced at a supporters q&a tonight.
I had FGR dead set on smashing the league next season but now I'm giving you lot the edge. Great, great signing. He'll bag you 20 before he even breaks a sweat.

In all seriousness if he does well for Tranmere I think it's time he gets rightly considered as one of the best strikers in the league. He's done it season after season, see no reason he shouldn't there if he plays regularly.

Way off being the best finisher, and not even a battering ram of a striker, he's just a solid all-rounder. Not sure he's the best, but no other striker at this level can carry a team single-handedly the way Cook has on a number of occasions.

He used to pull out the "in and around the playoffs" line when he was with us too. His favourite though was that he was "happy in the pack". How he has got 3 big spending teams to give him budgets to spunk is nothing short of amazing. The signing of Cook is vintage Brabin.

It's more galling when he's saying it and you are 11th in November (or whatever we actually were).

Cook never was and never will be the best in the league; doesn't have a particular strength and is mentally weak. I've never understood our fans obsession with him because he is not good enough for a promotion chasing side.

I think that remains to be seen, imo he is now potentially the best (certainly the highest scorer remaining) given Amond, Holman, Wright, Dennis, Payne and Bogle are gone. Evidence suggests he has improved markedly since he was at Grimsby as a .. what .. 22, 23 year old? He scored 20+ goals in consecutive seasons and is only 25 years old - now entering his prime years. I guess it depends on who FGR, Eastleigh, York, D&R bring in because no one on their books looks as recently prolific.

Miller, Norwood, Parkin, Hannah are potentially better, but none have had back to back 20+ goal seasons, I think ever.

What I think Tranemere undoubtedly do have now is the best spine of any team:

Davies
McNulty
Jennings/Harris
Cook/Norwood

Only in midfield would I suggests that's not the best in the league, but as a whole spine it's hard to think of a better one.

I don't think you could mention McNulty without Ihiekwe.

However, despite the line-up we'll still find a way to create zero chances, convert less than zero, and bore the fans to tears... :bl:

I'd take boring automatic promotion, however with Cooper I can't see many 1-0 wins, perhaps 4-3.

Tranmere could sign anyone, and still not get promoted with Brabin in charge

I've never heard of Andy Cook, though it's very pleasing Tranmere have signed a player people on this site rate. Wouldn't suprise me if Norwood joins a football league club and Cook is his replacement.

No, we will not be signing Matt Tubbs, his move to us on loan from January last season didn't work out well.
We were in for Cook, but he didn't want to move this far south..
We are reportedly close to signing a new striker though.
