You do know that the last club Clee and Rankine played for got relegated?
Despite the mickey taking by some on here they are both decent players. Fitness being the key component. I understand Nicky has agreed an appearance based deal which seems the best way forward after last season.

I was sorry to see both of them go. Another good thing about Nickly Clee is his ability to get up the opposition's noses.

We've also signed Jack Higgins from Stalybridge Celtic for an undisclosed fee, scored 13 goals last year.

Just saw this on our forum. Former R&DFC youth player, was released by Justin Edinburgh and is regarded as a bad move by those that knew a lot about the youth teams at the time. Really pleased for him and hope he does well for you guys.

Now that Nicky has gone, I'm just glad he hasnt signed for Conf North team and I am pleased he will be playing for Guiseley,... IF he gets fit. Nicky always struggles pre-season and does get injured all too often and at 32 he's not getting any younger.

If he gets fit and stays fit, you have got one hell of a player:brill:

We've resigned Scott Doe and Luke Howell from Boreham Wood.

Get the fuck in. Says a lot that Burnett made them leave and drop down a division when both are capable of playing in League Two easily.
Not sure Luke Howell will be as effective as you may think he'll be.

Any reason?

I'm not reading too much into last season. He moved a step down to a weaker team. He was good enough just over a year ago so unless there's been a dramatic decline, I think he'll be ok.

When he was here (in L2 about 5 years ago) he wasn't the quickest or strongest. Decent passer, but I think he'll end up being bullied out of games.

Jamie Chandler, Rob Ramshaw and James Curtis move from Gateshead to Spennymoor, who have also taken Graeme Armstrong from us. Nailed on for Evostik Premier i'd say.

Does it? It would be hard to find many better centre backs than Pearson last year (except Parkes and Smith who were TOTY) and hardly anyone mentioned Roberts?

Kayden Jacksons gone to Barnsley meaning he could be a Championship player next week, does that make him better than Dan Holman? Don't think so. But well done to Roberts, bringing hope to hoofers out there.

I really hope you're not referencing the Non League forum team of the year as a justification for this

Kayden Jackson's GONE to Barnsley. Marc Roberts is a first team regular with 40 appearances in the side that's made the play off final - I'm sure it's quite simple to see the distinction there.

Shaun Pearson was so sensational he couldn't even make a National League side. I really do wonder when this Pearson delusion will end.

In something completely unrelated, what is Sam Walker like?

I'm not his biggest fan personally - not fit enough to play 90 minutes. However, he's tidy on the ball, left sided so offers balance and he strikes a cracking dead ball.

Others rate him more than I do and whilst the National was probably a step too far I think he'll do a decent if not spectacular job in the North.

I hope you're not referring to Rankine.
Nicky Clee, Olli Johnson, Michael Rankine, Adam Boyes, Adam Smith and pacey young live wire Luke Porrit.
Rankine still managed 16 goals last season and his 'build' and style of play gives us something different to Boyes.

Yes he was still first choice - just. Something seemed to happen behind the scenes around Feb/March as Drenchy was dropped for reasons unknown and Dan Atkinson came in for several games and did very well playing against many of the top teams.
Sad to see him go, you have a good keeper there.

Thought I'd seen a keeper that looked far too tall for Guiseley on a couple of BT highlights shows! :D

Very happy with the signing to be honest.

Why would we be talking about this season? Roberts has been a L1 regular and Pearson, a conference player.

LAST season, you would have spoken to many people and most would have said Pearson over Roberts. It's clear this season that he's probably better than Pearson due to the difference in level and opposition. Don't see how it's delusional to suggest that Pearson was better last season. Roberts was also a better target for higher clubs, being two years younger and 5 inches taller.

No fair enough, no point getting further in to it to be fair. He'll have a stinker on Sunday now

He is a central midfielder?

Sounds decent, rejected a move to us a couple of years back to stay at Curzon but according to that non league rumours twitter account we are interested.

Yeah central midfielder - not got the legs to play in a central 2 IMO - works better on the left side of a 3.

It looks like we are going to be playing 4231 as our chosen formation next season but Gannon likes his balance and to have a left sided central midfielder in the squad so makes sense.
