Former Wrexham Midfielder Joe Clarke has joined his former manager Andy Morrell at Tamworth

Predictable really.

There were times when Clarke looked like a really good midfielder for us. Usually when playing alongside two much better players in Keates and Harris. At other times he was woeful. Sounds like he's been pretty bad since leaving Wrexham.

I thought he was MOTM in the playoff final against Newport. He was very good the second half of that season but that brilliant Keates/Harris partnership made a lot of our players look good.

Gateshead sign Nyal Ball from Rochdale
2 year deal he has hardly played for anyone
That was announced 2 weeks ago and he's already been rated risky, especially on a 2-year deal. He didn't do a lot for us during a loan, spell but has obviously got potential, but nothing more.

Certainly bit us on the arse when we dropped to CN level. We had players on full time contracts even though we were a part time team.

Gateshead have signed Toby Ajala on a 1 year deal. They must think he's shite, everyone else is getting 2 years there.

We've signed Mark Phillips from Braintree. Given they didn't concede too many last season, I'd assume he's not too bad. Anyone got any opinions on him?

Heslop generally played very well and made a noticeable difference to our midfield when he first signed. I really wanted him to stay, but based on his his form before coming to Wrexham I'm not sure I would have offered him a two year deal. His form dipped for us at the end of the season too.

I feel like a broken record as I've said this a few times now, but Heslop is an ok player, he would have been handy to have as backup in a squad but he's not promotion quality in my opinion. He was someone who looked good in comparison to our poor midfielders. He needs a lot of protection around him as you don't want the player to be running at him 1v1 as he's not that strong with a tackle and is actually quite rash, like the way he gave Tranmere a penalty at their place.

That's fine, we won't be troubling anybody near the top of the league anyway.

Sounds exactly like Anthony Barry, only not the last bit because Barry will pull out of virtually all
tackles at the last sec, meaning those that were around protecting him have drifted onto other attackers, leaving you massively exposed.

I was worried when we first signed him as Torquay fans said he was rubbish. In fact he was a massive improvement on what we had at the time and put in some very impressive performances when first joining, although his performances did tail off a bit towards the end of the season. He's not amazing but is a good solid midfielder at this level.

That does worry me about Barry. I'm just building my hopes on the fact that the League Two side he was with, who had a decent season, offered him a contract but he turned it down for the chance of first team football.

He had a very close relationship with Coleman who acted as his agent when he signed for us.

Southport have signed Neil Ashton from us after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.
If Wrexham fans thought he'd had his best days when he departed them, he can only have become unfitter after six months on the bench. A waste of what I imagine was a decent wage, he looked slow and not all that useful before getting injured before Christmas, never to be seen again.

With him and Grimes now added to the Southport squad, they must surely be shaping up for another relegation battle.
