We have signed Craig Westcarr, ex Notts County and Mansfield striker
We have also signed Sheffield United youngster Terry Kennedy who impressed last night as a trialist. Has has also had a short loan spell at Cambridge Utd.
Delano Sam-Yorke signs for Woking.
Soooo laid back he's almost horizontal. He had a good partnership going here with Ben Tomlinson amongst others so if he gets decent service and played in the right position I reckon he will be a good signing for you guys.
Soooo laid back he's almost horizontal.
Started just 1 game for us last season, with 15 appearances off the bench. No goals.
Went to Boreham Wood, also played 16 games with 9 start. 1 goal.
Record is not great as a goalscorer – just 14 goals from 101 National League games.
Official line to the press is that he had toothache, wisdom teeth trouble so sat it out.Just been told by a reliable source that the reason Tom Shaw didn't play in last night's friendly v Wigan that he's talking to Alfreton about a return.
To be fair, he never got a run in the side and I seem to recall he should of been awarded two goals that were both given to someone else because of a slight deflection or someone getting a last touch on a shot with the ball halfway over the line anyway. He'll do a job.Good signing. We're not going to get a much better, more experienced striker on our budget.
9 or 10 I think.Think he got a goal every 3-4 games at Lincoln, 16 in total? Problem was he joined at a time when we were playing hoofball under Simpson so a few players looked better than they were. He has pace and power but finishing can be a bit up and down, still think he could look decent in a side not expecting miracles, no disrespect Woking.
He came up through our academy system, so he knows the area as well as the club. Must admit I'm surprised that he's had a pretty decent career since he left us - when he subsequently pitched up at Basingstoke, I thought that would be his level.9 or 10 I think.
As you say, he was a very good foil for Ben Tomlinson. But he's never going to be a decent goal scorer and his shooting was incredibly wayward. He'll cause enough problems with his hold up play, pace and strength, though. It'll be more about who you can get up there with him otherwise he'll end up looking like a poor signing.
His first spell was probably better for him here than his second spell when he seemed to get wound up incredibly easy. I think he got sent off twice for violent conduct but in all honesty, I don't think enjoyed being away from London, which was why I was surprised he went to FGR last summer (and he went to FGR full stop tbh regardless of location).
Plus of course Delano was out of action for many months following a hernia operation. Ady P admitted at start of last season that Delano was not performing as he knew capable and that was entirely down to his dodgy hernia. Woking have done well in securing his services. To be fair, he never got a run in the side and I seem to recall he should of been awarded two goals that were both given to someone else because of a slight deflection or someone getting a last touch on a shot with the ball halfway over the line anyway. He'll do a job.
Sparrow - Are you still part-time at Woking or have you gone either full-time or semi-full?
Your squad is starting to shape up nicely.
The person who told me he was lining up a return to Alfreton has now back-tracked.Official line to the press is that he had toothache, wisdom teeth trouble so sat it out.
If it is just a cover then at least we're imaginative, could have just said he had a knock!
Sam-Yorke has always looked a handy player to me. He scored a few crucial goals for Cambridge in their promotion season, including the Play-offs. Definitely someone good enough as a Plan B for a promotion chasing side.
Definitely would have had him as another option. Don't think he would have started when we have Jordan White though, who has more to his game.Would have been decent enough for us.
So not such a reliable source after all.The person who told me he was lining up a return to Alfreton has now back-tracked.
15% reduction?
Surprised you havn't mentioned it before.
255k?Still part-time with a 15% reduced budget this season.
