I obviously don't mention it enough seeing as Greenacres didn't know that we are part-time.
I knew you had been part-time, from a discussion with a couple of your supporters in the club bar before our game at your place the season before last, but I didn't know if that remained the case. I have a hard enough job keeping up with changes at our club to know exactly what is going on at our rivals. It is always best to confirm a fact if you don't know the answer, hence my question to you. Clearly I haven't a clue how your club is run financially but, given your location in a fairly affluent part of the Home Counties, I would have though it would be of interest to an investor who wanted to take it into the Football League.

I think you've miss interpreted my post. GTFC1979 was having a go at me for, allegedly, always posting that we are part-time. The fact that you asked the question confirmed that I don't continually go on about us being part-time. That post wasn't intended to be having a dig at you!

Jon Parkin gone to Newport.
Okay JP will have to live with opposing fans calling him 'You Fat B*****d' but he is now a real 'Slim Jim'.
I was amazed how fit he looked after the summer holidays when he came back to train with FGR, although by then without a contract.
As a team player, Newport could not do better, but alas age is not on his side. I suspect he will be brought on only as a regular reserve player.
A very popular player at FGR and held in great respect by the fans. I'm sure we all wish him well.

Why has he only bothered to shed the weight now he's down in the Conference and League 2? Had the ability to be a good Premier League player but enjoyed the ale and kebabs too much. Good player but he could have achieved a lot more, not that his bank balance will be suffering.

Barrow AFC add former Stenhousemuir FC defender Euan Murray to their squad, looks like a good acquisition.

That's an excellent move, both for him and us. I doubt Jalal will need much coaching with his experience so it's a good chance for Dunn to learn without much pressure on him.
So Jalal is going to learn nothing and Dunn will learn how to coach a keeper who doesn't need it? Couldn't get any less pressure than that!

York City are delighted to announce that Lanre Oyebanjo has rejoined the Club.
That is a top signing,if he is fit would be amazed if any better full back in this league,he is the best signing we have made by a country mile.

Delighted to see Oyebanjo back, him and Meredith were exceptional on either side.

When were they last in this league? Could it be that actually the quality has improved since? I must admit, I've never heard of either of them.

When we got promoted, and they were vastly superior to the majority of players then, Banjo is only 26, it's injuries which have resulted in us even being remotely viable.

We have signed Jamie Robba, a Gibraltan keeper, and Jamie Reid on loan from Exeter for 3 months.

Not expecting to see much else from us, until this takeover fiasco is resolved.

We have also signed a goalkeeper today, Simon Lefebvre, who appears to have played for Birmingham and Kiddy. He is French, 19yrs old and a mere 6ft 8ins tall.

Came through the ranks at Bordeaux. 2 year deal so clearly seen as a prospect.

If he's the one I'm thinking of, he played the second half of our WBA friendly. Played alright, and couldn't do much about the goal we conceded. Though haven't you got a couple of keepers already? Assume he won't feature too much.

Didn't look that great and let a pea roller in against Blues U21's. But he's only 19 so has a lot to learn.

That seems pretty fair, though considering that most keepers don't reach their peak until their late 20's there is plenty of time for him to learn it. We have a couple of fairly decent keepers already and, as he has signed a two year contract, I expect him to be their understudy and definitely one for the future. He is supposed to be playing in our friendly this evening so I await reports on his performance.

Not a first team transfer, but we've lost another one of our young lads to Leicester, who was involved in the U18's as a 14 year old.

"The Imps received an undisclosed fee for the teenager, even though technically Leicester could have taken the player for nothing.

However, Froggatt says the Imps' strong links with the Foxes' youth department led to the club receiving compensation for losing the Lincoln-born youngster.

"We don't have any hold of the players in the schoolboy department and can lose them for nothing," said Froggatt, who will also manage the Imps' new under-21 side this season.

"We can only rely on the integrity of the club that wants to sign them, but we've got a good relationship with Leicester which enabled us to get some money for Ellis. It was a very honourable thing for them to do.""
