It's good to be able to strengthen when you are already doing well. The bench will be a good indicator of how strong the squads looking, but with a long hard season ahead it's looking like good business getting him here for a minimum of 3 months.

I feel a bit sorry for Beevers if this means Wood will go back to RB.

We've signed left-back Bobby Moseley on non-contract terms. Looks like he's most recently been at Solihull after being released by Stoke in the summer. We've been desperate for a more mobile left-back, Ashton has been woeful.

Likewise. Didn't think I'd be saying that last season but he looks like the Beevers of old in the last 4 or 5 games.

I'd be surprised if Champion went straight in tomorrow. He'll probably replace Wood or Beevers at some point in the second half but we're doing ok from a defensive point of view at the minute, so do we really need to rock the boat?

That's a shame - was hoping we'd pick a pacey winger on the right tomorrow night, as we know how slow Ashton is.

Am so envious of the size of some of these squads and players you are still signing, permanently or on loan.
If you discount Fazakerly as he's our fitness coach and the two youngsters from the youth team who emergency apart will never start, we only have 14 players in our squad, 15 if you include keeper Mitch Walker, who our boss never puts on the bench
Something has to give soon you simply cant work with numbers like that

We have signed Danny Burns from Buxton and loaned him back for the rest of the season, anyone heard of him?

Play him up front off of a target man and he's decent. Was really good for us two seasons ago when he joined on loan. Some of our fans wanted us to sign him when Eastleigh released him but a) we couldn't afford him anyway and b) we don't need another forward.

sounds like he may be just what we need. possibly in the side for tomorrows' match at home to guisely. and as far as 'a' goes, he can't be after the money coming to us, we can't afford to pay big money at Maidstone either.

Yeah fair enough. Not saying you're paying him Eastleigh wages but I'm sure it is more than we could offer.

Although if there isn't a lot of money at Maidstone, it's a bit weird you're going full-time next season.

not sure about that, one of our owners said in an interview that it could be the next step for us, possibly next season. guess we'll have to wait and see about that. would mean a bit of a clear out of our squad, as most of the lads we have now wouldn't want full time football.

Next season we won't be paying out close to a million on a new stand and pitch....so going full-time could be doable

As for currently, id make a guess that our budget isn't much higher than your reported 275k a year or however much it was. We kept most of our team from last season, which still has a few from our Ryman league days.

We definitely have one of the lower budgets in this league.

As Raymondo said next year there won't be nearly a million to pay out to get the ground up to scratch which can be used to pay full time wages with plenty of room to spare. As to how we can afford Obudade our transfer budget is completely separate from our running budget, so the cost of the new stand has no effect on purchasing new players.

Ah Mr "Blistering Pace" himself. Shit for us, although so have most of the other 40+ strikers been that have turned out for us in the last 5 or 6 seasons. Hockaday even tried playing him as a target man. It didn't work.

this looks like a post that could be worth reviewing on the 23 april 2017 as we discuss the 3 goals yemi scores on the 22nd.

Yemi is the loveliest guy you could ever wish to meet, will be a fans favourite for his infectious personality alone.
Quick, but has to be played down the middle with a target man flicking things on for him, ineffective as a winger.
Causes defenders to panic with his pace and runs straight at defenses with the ball, but will never score enough goals & his shooting can be pretty woeful. As for wages, i think he was our second lowest earner, not including the kids, so wont have broke the bank at all.
Good signing, but wont get you a hat full of goals, he'll probably get you no more than 6 per season.
I'm glad he's got another club at this level.

Yip did well at Woking and i think you played him as an out & out striker down the middle. We played him wide more than we did as a striker, or he came on late in games when we need a bit of pace to try and nick a win or a point. However, whenever he did rarely gets starts for us playing as a striker, he rarely scored goals. His goals ratio at just about every other club, other than that short loan spell at Woking, has been pretty poor. But he offers pace and that creates chances for others to tuck away.

We've bought some bang average nut from Southport to bolster our reserves.

Weird one, that.

At 25(?) he's had more loan spells than permanent clubs I think.

We have 9 players who are better than him that can play in the front three. That position is not our issue.

Is that Almond? Highly-talented, mostly lazy.
Will have a couple of incredible games a season, but that's about it. I think he's been here for three spells, and looked like he could go on and make a career in the league, but just dropped and dropped.

For some reason or another we've taken Scott Flinders on loan from York for a short while.

I'm pretty sure I've seen some pretty shocking reports on him on here so far this season. Also is he the one who was suspended for racist remarks?

Yep, that's him I think. Seems a weird one, York obviously don't want him but we don't really need him. Our other two keepers are both decent enough already.

I'm not convinced they are, but I would say our position doesn't urgently require us to bring another stopper in, when we're crying out for more strength up front.
