The signing didn't exactly feel me with confidence when it was announced. But he came off the bench, scored and actually looked pretty useful....so hopefully he can keep that up.

When he signed for us, a couple of Woking fans I asked described him as being as useful as having a traffic cone up front. They were wrong, he was worse. Didn't stop Hockaday in his infinite wisdom bringing him in permanently after a shockingly poor intial loan spell.

He ended up scoring a grand total of 0 goals in 2 spells (about 20 games) for us. Terrible player

Goalkeeper Jamie Butler has had his contract terminated by mutual consent. We paid Hemel a fee for him but he wasn,t up to the standard required for this league. We have replaced him with Sam Beasant from Cambridge Utd.

He's a free agent after leaving Crawley and glad to be back home by the sound of it. I hope it works out for both parties, we get the quality we couldn't normally afford and he gets match fitness and a shop window i guess.

Still caretaking at the moment Chris, he's stopped the stupidity of the early games when we regularly had eight players well up the pitch attacking, leaving us far too exposed to counters. Instilled some much needed positional discipline and personal responsibility. Next step is creating a few more chances and taking them.

Southport have re-signed Mark O'Brien on a 3 month loan from Luton. He was with us for a month last season and made a huge difference to our defence, and to be honest I'm surprised we've been able to sign him again as he looked far too good a player for us. I'm guessing Luton haven't been able to sell him, and it's better that he spends time with us playing regularly and putting himself in the shop window than it is rotting in their reserves.
