So you honestly, hand on heart, believe that the following are all on less than £1k a week at Lincoln.
Elliot Whitehouse
Matt Rhead
Sean Raggett
Nathan Arnold
Theo Robinson
..and your captain?

lolz. Deluded.

My bad, i meant 2007, not 2001.
I was going off Luke Imps comment "In recent history, and off the top of my head, Rob Burch was on about £1.5k/week in 2007/08".

So the implication is that, even though in 2007 you were at a higher level, that 9 yrs later in 2016/17, you are paying all your players less now than you were back then. With the cost of living and salary increases in all walks of life since 2007, i find that very hard to believe that your players are earning less than 33% than they were 9 yrs ago.
Would any of you work for 33% less than you were in 2007... and this at a time when there is more money in football, even at this level, than there ever has been before.
In 2007, we were getting crowds of 5,000 and £500k in FL money. Our turnover was £3-3.5m.

In 2016, we aren't getting crowds of 5,000, we get no FL money, and our turnover is £1.5m (guessing because we haven't had last seasons accounts yet so I might have been a bit safe with that).

Lower wages = a lesser quality player, which is why we've not been in the top half of a league since that season.

I've actually just checked, and Burch was on £1k/week take home, so, what, £1,250? We only knew that because he got caught on his mobile phone while driving when playing here (http://www.lincolnshirelive.co.uk/imps-keeper-caught-driving-phone/story-11197708-detail/story.html).

Nope, not simple.
Nope i don't expect Wigan's players to be on what Emile Heskey was on.
However, given Lincoln are clearly spunking a lot of money on transfer fees, it doesn't compute that the players they are bringing in are on 33% less than a player you had 9 years ago at L2 level. L2 wages, even back then, were not like they are in the Premier league, so the Heskey comment is a rather" simple" and non applicable comparison to make. The PL is nothing like any other level of football.
But L2 and the National League do not have much of a gap in wages at all. So again, as you seem simple, do you really expect your top 4-5 players to only be on 800 a week (less than 1000), when you are spunking close to £100k on 2 players transfer fees?
Get real. You are going for it big time and have massively increased the wage bill this season and are blowing the £1.5 a week in 2007 salaries out the water.
Lincoln sell player for £50k plus add-ons to take it up to 6 figures, Lincoln sign a player for less than said £50k. Terrible business! Given that there's been no confirmation or hint anywhere of the Raggett fee, I'm not sure where this £100k has come from...

So you honestly, hand on heart, believe that the following are all on less than £1k a week at Lincoln.
Elliot Whitehouse
Matt Rhead
Sean Raggett
Nathan Arnold
Theo Robinson

Theo Robinson is on a month-to-month contract and Alan Power signed his two year deal 18 months ago when we didn't have a pot to piss in.

This Eastleigh and Forest Green attack Lincoln thing is getting a bit old now.

Luke Imp's pretty much posted exactly what I was thinking as an outsider looking in anyway.

We've signed Myles Anderson, subject to international clearance.

(No idea what the headline means, or who Cody is...)
Most recently with the mighty Lupa Castelli Romani. Never heard of the guy, but the fact that it's taken months for Cox to finally sign up another centre-back, it looks like he's bided his time to land his man. Will take a lot to dislodge Livesey or Diarra at this stage, and feel sorry for our other centre-back, Euan Murray, who looks competent enough to be a regular at this level.

You're showing yourself up a little there mate. 2001 was the high-point for wages at Lincoln. It was the time of ITV Digital, when League teams thought all their Christmases had come at once and started paying silly money. It's not coincidence that many League teams suffered administration shortly after the collapse of ITV Digital.

As Luke mentions above, players have to factor in accommodation and relocation. At this level players aren't earning much more than 'normal' people and if they have a family to think about then the upheaval of moving elsewhere often isn't worth a few hundred quid a week extra.

There's also the fact that living costs in the Midlands are significantly lower than they are in the south east. I say this is as someone from Lincolnshire who now lives in East London. Have a look on Rightmove at rent and house prices in Worksop...
Agreed. A relation of mine lives in eastleigh. Rents circa 900 quid a month for 3 bedroomed house. Could manchant for that up north. Last place i loved down south was st albans where a little pokey room was 500 quid a month. Not suprised players command more on south. My firm pay workers in the south more

If Lincoln's players are all on less than £1k a week, it might be worth Rovers going for Akinola, one of the best opponents at Prenton Park last season. . I'm fairly sure a few of our players are already on more

We were looking at him earlier this season but he wanted too much money apparently. I'm guessing he's dropped his wage demands a bit having been out of work for a few months! I was a bit concerned about his injury record tbf.

I guess his previous injuries are why he's down here, he needs to prove he can play consistently and stay fit. He played in the same Oldham team as our manager Locky hence the connection to Guiseley. No idea what his deal is but would make sense to be based on games played similar to Nicky Clee. I hope it works for him as he clearly has the talent to be far higher up the leagues.

Without suggesting to know what exactly, there is no way Rhead would have agreed to stay, if he was only on £1000 a week, and even though I am not really one of those Dover supporters who harp on about Raggetts signing being a sideways move, if he is only on the same, what with relocation costs etc then if nothing else it certainly endorses that sideways argument. Surely both have to be nearer £1500, particularly Rhead moreso considering Lincolns resources and crowds?

If Guiseley had started making the sort of signings they've been making recently in the summer, they'd be top half.

Lockwood's obviously got good contacts, including our gaffer, Hylton was recommended by him apparently.

Most of them wouldn't have been available back then though as they would've been expecting to be signed/involved with efl clubs. playing for us at this stage works well for both parties, especially as we are part time.

Rhead was tied into another year's contract. He put in a transfer request because he wanted to come to Barrow in a player-coach role, but there is no way we would have been offering £1,500. Cook was offered something close to that and it was widely quoted that would be by far the biggest deal we've ever offered. I can't imagine Rhead was making a four-figure weekly wage last season.

As we really still suggesting we're paying £1.5k/week wages? Give over. As I've said, we weren't even paying that in L2 when crowds were higher, we had FL money etc.

FWIW, we have a Club house where players live, unless they choose to buy up here due to family i.e. Habergham who's originally from Doncaster initially stayed there but has bought/is buying with his missus. Miles and Woodyard on the other hand are remaining in the Club house because it's just them.

Most of the players in the squad are local, though.

Obeng was class for us and was sold for big money but since then the lad has basically played no football for nearly 5 years, all of his own accord. He saw out his good money contract at Swansea and was happy never to play so I'm not sure he actually gives a shit about football these days.
