According to Cleethorpes Town we have signed young striker Brody Robertson from them. He was top scorer with 29 last season in the NCEL and has scored 110 goals in the past 3 seasons for them. Interesting one. Looks to have some promise, hopefully he can make the step up.

We've signed Christian Dibble. Any Nuneaton or Boston fans about? His dad was great for us.

Dibble played a couple of games on loan at Chorley right at the end of last season, first game away v Gloucester he played really well, second at home to Halifax he kindly dropped the ball at Denton' s feet to gift them the first goal.

A weak link in Boston's defence at the beginning of last season according to their end with mistakes galore.

I'm not sure whether he was as bad as they were making out, or whether he was just a scapegoat, but he left about 2 months into a 1 year deal so the manager obviously couldn't wait to get rid of him.

Signed Morgan Ferrier now.

Ferrier, Sparkes, Whitely, Fejiri and Jake Howells all options for the wide positions. Very happy with that.

Assume we're getting Cheek as well to compete with Hawkins which would be excellent too.

He left after the season ended as he wasn't offered a new deal, he just made a 'goodbye' tweet today and reveal that it was for financial reasons, which most people assumed was the case anyway. Possibly attitude has held him back because he can be devastating when on form, but he's never managed to get a big move and was in and out of the side here. Without his burst of form in March and April (that kept us up almost single handedly) he would have been judged a flop based on his August to February form.

Dan Sparkes has joined Dagenham on a 2 year deal. Would have loved to have kept him, but he's so likeable you can't begrudge him a better paid and longer deal much closer to home. Proven at this level and a brilliant attitude, so as secure a signing as you can make.

Agree with all this. If Williams is to be believed then it is quite clear (again) that the owners have no interest in the playing side of things. I imagine we will be scraping around until mid to late July before having 15 or so.

An ideal signing would be Keiffer Moore on a season loan from Ipswich but I imagine if he's going anywhere it'll be a FL team.

As rumoured, we have signed defender Luke Shiels, who was released by Harrogate on a one year deal.

Don't blame Cole. I'd choose Edinburgh and 16k crowds over Birkenhead and 4.5k crowds too. Ah well, let's hope Cook isn't too upset about being dropped towards the end of the season...

he will have been brought in as a back up goalie, might play 5 - 10 games for us unless Dunn gets injured? is a good age to still be learning a trade and as Dunn is also our GK coach a good experience for him to be coaching youth instead of Jalal who was older than him!

Ollie Marx has also re-signed for us

Not really, the players we've signed wages are less then those that were released.

Not sure what doing a Chester is, but the club website said we received nothing. If what Monkey Tennis is correct then there wouldn't have been any way we'd have offered him a contract 60 days before it expires. It was only really the last month/month and a half of th season that he showed signs of any ability.

Chester failed to secure Ben Heneghan against a loophole that allowed Motherwell to take him on a free despite being under 23. Lost a very good player for nothing.

Also didn't he score ten goals in L2 before December? Was that not a clue?

Yep, we've done a Chester...

EDIT... Or have we? The official line is, "As he will be signing for a club outside of England after the season in which he turned 23, Tranmere will not receive a fee for the player."

Boreham claimed they recently turned down over 50k for Ferrier, so they must be hoping for more through a tribunal.

How come? Did you do a Chester?

We got a decent amount for Louis Moult when he went to Motherwell.

Louis at Moult went free according to my information as do all the players that go to Scotland from the National League over the international "loophole".

Yeah, I never took into account the fact that he was over 23. That was why Chester got nothing though, because they left it too late to offer a new contract.
Not sure if I've missed something, but was Stockton out of contract? If so, how is this any different to any other free transfer?

If a player moves to another club in England then compensation is due IF the player is under 24 and has been offered contract terms by his current club that are equal or better than his previous deal. If a club from abroad, including Scotland, sign the player then those rules do not apply and compensation is not due.

I believe Wrexham got money for Moult as he had a year left on his contract.

We've fell foul to this rule twice in the past - once with Ash Taylor to Aberdeen (although rumours are we hadn't offered him equal terms anyway) and controversially with Alan Mahon who joined Sporting Lisbon, played one game for them vs Benfica before signing for Blackburn who had been in for him the prev January (tranmere conspiracy theorists believe this was all arranged to prevent us getting any money).

Not sure what happened with Chester but if he went to Scotland at the end of his contract then there's nothing they could have done irrelevant of age.

Incorrect

“I was happy at Wrexham and excited for pre-season but then a bid came in.

For a club of Wrexham’s size, it was a massive bid and I don’t blame them for accepting. It’s the sort of money that can do a lot for a non-league club.

“It’s a business at the end of the day and it’s down to Wrexham whether they accept or not. When I went up to Motherwell they were brilliant and with the offer of a three-year deal, I couldn’t turn it down. For them to offer me a three-year deal is a massive factor because it offers my family stability.

We definitely had m he blamedoney for Moult.

Not sure what the problem with Hennighan was. No-one at the club will take responsibility for not offering him a contract 60 days before his current one ended. I asked our finance guy and he blamed Burr although Burr wasn't there to defend himself. People/fans at the club (and I do too) think that despised Club Secretary Tony Allen was to blame.
