Alabi was not signed as a target man, as we already had Cook and Waring for that role. We knew what kind of player he was, he just was not as good as we thought he would be.

I am glad he has moved on, but he was a victim of circumstance.

Firstly, when Mellon fell out with Cook in the summer, he thrust Alabi straight into the first team when he was not ready. He struggled, lost confidence and was sidelined.

Secondly, due to the financial problems we had in the summer, with a big loss on the Wirral Live concert, we had to move out-of-favour players out quickly to free up some budget. As a result, Alabi was packed off to Dover. Without those financial problems, I think he would have been allowed to hang around the squad, make a few substitute appearances and gradually build up his confidence. If that had happended he might have been a success in the long term.

Everyone on our forum has suddenly decided he’s ‘always been shit’ now he’s left.

Great player, should do well in the league.

Your best player by an absolute street in our game. He was literally the only reason I didn’t think you would get relegated.

What was said? I don't pay too much attention to managers interviews in general to be honest. Mostly full of shit.

He said a lot of shit (including you could have been 3-0 or 4-0 up at half time), but the daftest thing he said was we came with a game plan and it didn't work. As an aside our away form is decent, but if we do go down 3 home wins in 2017 will be the reason.

Good grief. Massive full of shit interview that.

Old Mellon reckons Alabi to us isn't happening "at this moment".

I can't see Dover wanting him if he has actually agreed terms with us.

Proper kick in the teeth for our promotion chances. Hopefully he'll do well there, great player with a good attitude and deserves his chance in the FL.
No idea on the fee but he is out of contract in the summer.

Massive blow for our promotion chances and in my opinion a poor decision to allow Mensah to go. Should have made him wait until the summer (he would still have got a move), as the money we could make by going up would have been significantly more than the peanuts we probably sold him for.

Anyway congratulations on the title Macclesfield!

Completely disagree, he has been bang average in the few games he’s played this year, except one decent goal at Bromley. Last years Mensah and I’d agree, but imho we are right to cash in now rather than get 2 bob and a packet of peanuts for him in a summer tribunal.

He's not been in great form recently but he has still been a threat even if he hasnt scored. Also he is a character that seems to improve morale within the squad. I think we will miss him more than we missed Kanu when he left in the summer. Just got to hope Waddock has a replacement lined up

Agreed completely. He will be badly missed. Wonder what's GW has up his sleeve? Am I right in thinking you can only have 5 loan players in a matchday squad? If so we'd need someone permanently as we already have Ward, Fowler, Kinsella, Blanchfield & Kasamba.

We’ve let our best full back leave on a free to join Southport. I’m absolutely amazed. I know a player that was part of the team last season and he left beginning of this because our chairman wouldn’t pay the wages he expected in this league. I’ve had a feeling for a while that our chairman tries to sign players on the cheap. I know people will find that hard to believe but why else would Richards leave the club to join Southport in the league below on a free.

I’m absolutely furious

Not sure where to put this but Tranmere fans, what is Ollie Banks like? We have signed him on loan until the end of the season. What kind of player can we expect?

gutted to lose him mate. We improved the moment he arrived , reads the game really well, passing is excellent as is his set piece delivery. But the best thing I can say about him is he wont just come for the money he will put in a shift for you. he genuinely loved trfc and put everything into his time here, the crowd loved him and were gutted to see him go to such an extent that his dad tweeted calling us a proper club compared to oldham who looked after his son and in return he played hid heart out for us

Apparently he wasn't on contract with you, and we've offered him one until the end of next season. It seems one hell of a coup for us, particularly when you guys are assumed to be one of the big spenders locally.

Thanks for the feedback Mark, it must have been really frustrating for his loan spell to be cut short so I appreciate the honest assessment without any hint of sour grapes at all.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

Monkey Tennis or any other Barrow fan - Jordan Williams. We've signed him on loan from Rochdale. Not worked out for him in L1 by all accounts, but I can't say I remember too much about him, just that we tried to sign him in the summer.

You were big favourites to sign him from us in the summer, but he picked Rochdale at the last minute. Cost them more than £100,000 and that felt like a fair value for him.
On his day he was far above Conference level, but could also have a month where he did nothing. Scorer of fantastic goals (take a look at the 'goals' bit on this vid
) and could beat a mean and whip in a cross.

Definitely needs to work up a bit of form though, and looks like he didn't get a consistent run in Rochdale's side.

Is he a worker? DC doesn't really like your standard luxury player type winger.

He can be a bit of both - works hard when things are going for him, and will chase and battle for everything, but then he'll have spells where he'll just be stranded on the wing not really getting involved.

As wingers go though, he's got a lot more in his locker than most.
