Happy with Harrison. At least it shows some joined up thinking as he is a proper target man who attacks crosses.

What happened to Harrison? I remember him forming a great partnership with Bennett I think it was and scored a few goals, but then he got injured badly for quite a while. After that he got shipped out to Sutton on loan last season and don’t think he did too much there, but must have returned to Barrow and then let go. Has he been a free agent all summer?

Harrison seems like a logical signing on paper. I wasn't expecting a prolific scorer as that's what Tarpey is here for. If he can do here what Sean Marks did for Tarpey at Maidenhead then this is a great signing.

Barrow/Sutton fans, what can we expect from Harrison and does he still have a fair bit to offer as a target man at this level?

Well that's exactly it - his injury ruined his time at Barrow. A good athlete, and a strong finisher looked completely when he came back. Wasn't exactly shipped out to Sutton, but they took on a huge chunk of his decent salary.
He might do well, but I don't think he's anywhere near what he was 18 months ago.

Just never recovered then? That injury came at a bad time for him too I imagine, because I’m sure FL clubs would have been looking at him again.

That's a bit of a worry, sounds like we've taken a punt that he can regain full fitness. If he doesn't then we will struggle to make top 6-7

It’s definitely a punt, but if he is back to his old form, then he will be good. It’s a massive risk from Still though to rely on him.

Stuart Beavon was a decent striker about 6 years ago, but age has caught up with him a bit.

Wonder if he still has it in him for the National League? Believe Wycombe got him from Weymouth, so he knows what Non League is about!

Injured against us in that TV game didn't he? Ankle? Hardly played since then and what, as you say, about 18 months ago.

If he's injury prone that puts us in big trouble. We need him to be fit and consistent. Still has built a very workmanlike, limited squad on paper and I have a horrible feeling we may fail to make the playoffs this season. The only players who excite me are the ones who were here last season, and Still has made 10 signings now.

We could be totally fine, but I'm not holding my breath.

Not sure injury prone is right. He played a lot of games last year. I accept that maybe he downed tools at Barrow which is a concern, but we just need one good year, which if we get, has us top 4 at least. Then we just need to sort out our shit play off record, but at least he takes a decent penalty.

Gateshead FC are delighted to announce the signing of 20-year-old goalkeeper Aynsley Pears on a season long loan from Middlesbrough FC.

Great signing for the Heed, single-handedly kept us up with some superb goalkeeping last season, he'll be no doubt one of the best keepers in the National League. He'll make great strides and further enhance his career in a tougher league.

New right winger for us in Kaine Felix. He's been superb for us against Bolton and a brief outing against Leeds.
Super quick, good feet and has shown decent end product.
I liked Kaine at York, good attitude quick and skillfull and think we should of persisted with him longer, but sorry he had no end product and lightweight.if he has beefed up a bit could be a good signing.
He played under 3 different managers at York and all lost faith in him,

Where have you heard this? That’s a complete surprise to me.
In short the guy has ability and did very well for us in the second half of last season but he’s always good for at least one act of stupidity per match.

It's always a risk with such pacy wingers along with injuries however our current management team have a history of nurturing and developing young talent so we shall see. Management, players and fans witnessed his terrific performance against Bolton and his fifteen minutes v Leeds (scoring in that time) so I'm sure he'll get every encouragement to succeed here.

Yeah I think I've got confused with another Daniel Sweeney footballer, ours is more black and brummie and with no Wikipedia. So I'm at a total loss, hope he is good though. Makes more sense than a professional from down south signing for us to be honest.

You've signed our ex academy player in Dan Sweeney. Never really lived up to his potential here and honestly I'd be surprised if he started for you regularly.

Also surprised you signed Murphy. He's not good enough for the National League.

This from http://www.afcfylde.co.uk :

When asked about his move to AFC Fylde Gime commented:

“I am delighted to join for AFC Fylde.”

“The decision to join was easy, especially after meeting with the manager and having a look around the stadium which is fantastic.”

For "having a look around", do you think he was marched to the centre circle with the chairman's hands over his eyes, and pointed towards the main stand? (says the bloke who watches football at a three-sided ground.)

Interestingly, it says here that he actually scored in pre-season. Must be a different Gime Toure.
