Only our second ever Portuguese player, the second being Morais in December, exotic

Goes to show how signings are looked at. If you’d signed him for league two it would be underwhelming.
Same sort of signing as what you were doing last season with Montel Gibson and Ira Jackson.

Not really, Sousa has played in the league before and was playing NLN football.

Those two were barely above Sunday league before they signed, although I think Jackson Jnr may well be a decent player this season.

We also signed Luke Spokes from Taunton who I rate as an excellent player (although our fans are split on him)

Yeah, Gibson and Jackson Jr were both at least a level lower than Sousa has been this season and going into a side playing a level higher than we are now, so it's not really a fair comparison in my opinion. You're talking about a single divisional step up as opposed to three and into the EFL. Also, on reflection, Holloway's transfer policy was a complete shitshow, whereas we know Hurst gets it right a lot of the time.

Means Hendrie is almost certainly going, if we were under any illusions he wasn't.

He’ll be far better suited at Grimsby where they’ll have the majority of possession and he’ll be able to attack higher up the pitch. That was how we played a couple of seasons ago and he was my player of the season.

I wouldn’t be so keen on playing him at centre back or at the right of a back three however.

I would be wary of anyone from that Wealdstone defence to be honest, weren’t they on for the goals conceded record at one point?

Correct, only conceding 99 goals at the end was equivalent to winning the league…

Plenty of decent defenders are part of shite defenders, to be fair. However, definitely seem to be a few red flags seem to be emerging with this signing so I'll try and remain open. All we can do is judge him when he's here and playing in a Town shirt though, I guess.
To be fair that was similar to our defensive record under Holloway, then Hurst came in we were back to 1-0's
And we sold one of those who was almost ever present under Holloway to a Premier League club for 250k.

Yeah, but one of their other defenders (Jacob Mendy Mendy Mendy Mendy Mendy) got in our team of the season. Surely there’s not two decent players in a defence that bad.

He's an attacking midfielder who filled in at left back.. tbh would have been our best player in any position he played in including goalkeeper..

He's very quick, very powerful, just not great defensively. But if you have cover when he bombs forward he could be a real asset. Just got found out massively in our side in the NL because he had to defend and couldn't.

Yeah, he stood out as a level above his teammates when you played us, similar to Carey at Lynn. You expecting him to move on this summer?

So did you play him as more of a wingback with three CBs then, or did you just boss it enough at NLS that you could get away with him in a flat back four?

I wish we'd hurry up and sign someone, probably a bit difficult trying to negotiate terms with players still involved in the Euros I suppose.

Ryan Taylor looks a real good signing at this level

9 signings in before the last week of June. Unheard of round these parts.
