We're linked to youngsters at United at the moment and in Rusk and new assistant Mark Beard we have two people who know the academy circuit more than most. It's a route we explore aswell and will be doing more going forward. We have a real mix of profiles in our squad, still 4 or 5 who helped us up from the North. Notts have got more experienced football league lads than us. We came up to this league with part timers from further down the pyramid and we've tried to add some players who are proven in this league like Hogan, Rooney, Quigley etc. Only really Madden who is FL proven. Maybe Hogan. Quigley has done one year there. Notts with O'Brien, Doyle, Brindley, Rawlinson, Wooton etc

To be fair Quigley has also only done a year or so down here.

Wasn’t particularly a criticism, more of an observation. The chances of us dropping big wages or a significant fee on someone with the profile of Quigley or Madden is basically non-existent, for better or worse, even though we probably could do so financially. On the other hand, I suspect someone like Rodrigues is on a lot more than lots of our fans realise, because we see it as an ‘investment’ on someone with big resale value.

Not my chant tbf. It was doing the rounds on the Whatsapp group the other day. Quigley looks class on YouTube tbf so I'm sticking with it until he I actually see him play.

I think if you lost Wooton tomorrow, I'd be surprised if you replaced him with a kid released from an academy or whatever. It's horses for courses. You want a mix in a squad. Which Notts have more than most tbf.

Wootton is another example, we paid a decent fee to sign him after having him on loan and gave him a big, long contract because he’s only 24 and we think we can make a decent profit on him.

If we sold him tomorrow then we’d spend good money replacing him, but it would be someone of a similar profile to that. It’s not necessarily just kids released from academies - Francis is, but Wootton was someone who had just never settled down anywhere or quite broken through at Scunthorpe, Roberts was hiding in the Conference North, Rodrigues in the Dutch second tier etc.

To be fair we do seem to get that you need a mix and we’ve signed plenty of older players (more so under Ardley), but we won’t pay big money for them.

I see they ran with "Former England U19 Captain" and not the "Just been released by Harrogate" angle

It's like when Tamplin signed "ex Premier League Striker" Adam Morgan for Billericay or Romford or wherever he is now.

Having a WhatsApp group for your fans is some real Boreham Wood shit.

It's not for fans, it's just a mates group where a lot of football talk seems to go round. Ends up in a "banter" battle between United and City fans most of the time.

I am an ambassador for relations between these two football clubs, I aim to keep the peace. I apologise for both the sentiment and the shitness of the chant.

We've got one for the London/South East based Grimsby supporters group, it's been really good so far.

Imagine that they are a lot happier than the people that actually have to live in Grimsby :lol::bye: (that was banter before there's some sort of Cleethorpes ambush) :bg:

Nah groups like that are fine, I was just picturing a huge group of Stockport fans in one WhatsApp group which would surely be carnage.

I reckon a Halifax one would consist of B2TF and only B2TF after everyone else left.

Speaking of Stockport is there a better Stockport fans forum? the only one I can ever find is the Yellow Board, and thats like something from 1995. Id like to see what other chants they have.

It's a horrible messageboard. If they have a popular topic you have to scroll for 3 days to get to the next one.

I think we over bigged that one to be fair.

Hopefully some of the these new lads will mean we’ll have some legs in midfield for the first time since the red scum took Ryan Yates back, thereby costing us promotion (before sending him straight out to fucking Scunthorpe, not that I’m bitter or anything).

Yup. Seen us outran in midfield too many times over the past two years (not least the play off final v Harrogate) to realise you need some actual movement and energy in midfield at this level.

I won't join that message board as they to want to know your inside leg measurement et al before they let you on. Also in recent months there is the continual sniping and points scoring between the Ruskettes and the Gannonistas which just does my head in.

There is a new yellow board - the relics kicked up a fuss and stayed on the shit one though so that’s why it’s still going.

Oi some of those 'relics' are my friends and the formal term of address is 'fossils' not 'relics'.

That chant was doing the rounds at Prenton Park from february 2019 with better lyrics.

Micky Mellons going for two in a row
Two in a row.
The writer of the song was made up it had been used.

We also started using using Tequila as a song.
After years of drinking it to hide the pain of watching the garbage we had to put up with from 2013 to 2017.

Many many moons I can remember playing at Turd Moor and even though we had a decent following they started with the old 'come in a taxi' chant, our fans sang it back at them with the words 'a taxi' changed to something else - I won't say what it was but it didn't half annoy them.
