Any idea what he's like? Been with us training for a week or so.

It's interesting that he says he likes working with Darren Sarll and he gets the best out of him, considering Sarll was academy boss at Watford when Sonny was 16 and Darren left under quite a cloud with allegations of bullying.
We had him on loan towards the end of the season. Disappointing that we didn’t get him again this season. He is small and slight, but has great feet and some talent. Scored our goal of season against Hartlepool.

Not sure - as Pinner says he seems to have a good touch and be technically sound .

Yes seen that - mind you we seem to change youth team coaches as much as we do first team ones !

Stockport just sold Jack Hinchy to Brighton believe it was a six figure fee, not bad considering he's only played about 5 minutes of 1st team football

Great move for the player.

We must be one of the only clubs at this level who are now in the black when it comes to transfer business this summer. I can't see us going out and splashing the cash on stars or going out and getting a ridicilously bloated squad full of ex league players, I can see us investing this wisely back into the development of young players.

Your team is jam packed with overpaid mercenaries, this fee probably pays two of them for a year if you’re very lucky.

Ha ha good one.

Nice to see a youngsters get a good move, and the club benefit from it. And if it doesn't work for him he may do a Jordan Davies, go to Brighton for a few years and then come back a better player.

Davies leaving felt like a loan if anything.

Aren't all professional footballers mercenaries? as for being overpaid I'll wait til the end of the season before giving my verdict on that one.

Somebody in this league is being paid 9 grand per week, even if that player scores 30 to win the title, he’s still overpaid

We've just signed Jerome Binnom Williams

Thankfully he's only on a month-to-month deal, so if he's as crap as everyone on here claims, we can easily just get rid.

The squad gets thinner & thinner

Hasn't taken long for it to be treated as fact. The only source being some journo who said "if it's true" (which is Journalese for "it isn't"; you don't pussyfoot around like that if you've got reliable info), and was just using it to segue into some piece about Marine. Some clubs are paying players silly money, mine included, but plucking random figures out of the air isn't helping anything. Especially if it makes the real numbers look reasonable by comparison.

... that said, it is probably Mullin though

Rowe confirmed after the game that we’ve signed both Jim Kellerman and Melvin Minter. No mention of length of contracts but would presume both will be 1 year.

Kellerman off out on loan straight away to Tamworth for 6 months to get him back up to speed after a bad injury, whilst still training with us on the days Tamworth don’t train with them being part time. Minter in as back up for Loach.

Sure Chessie’s squad must be almost as big as Grimsby’s now?

Well we only had one keeper so a backup GK was needed and the other lad has literally gone straight out on loan?

We’ve also loaned Joe Rowley to Kings Lynn for 6 months… personally don’t think we’ll see him in a Chesterfield shirt again.

That gives us a final squad number of 23 players.. havent Grimsby got like 30?

We've signed a midfielder called Jamie Cooke been on trial in pre season. Former Fleetwood acadamy player but played at Colne last season where he was top scorer and top assister. Only 20. Fits the profile of the type of player we go for.

About that, but 5 are transfer listed and training with the youths, not been involved in anything to do with the first team since end of last season. One on loan and one a GK coach.
And they’re all on £200 a week right ;)

Wouldn't know ;) 3 of the 5 won't be on much, 2 were first year pros last season and one was signed from about 20 divisions below us!

Either way all 5 are a waste of a wage we need to get rid off, however they are not part of the first team squad, so not that disruption of having too many players in the first team.

People play for Grimsby for the chance to experience the salt sea Cleethorpes air and pull on the famous black and white shirt. They have never paid anyone more than £300 a week and they never will.
