Did you read my post? I quite blatantly said it's given to us for the purpose of transitioning to this level, ie. managing our wage budget and allowing us to keep paying those transfer listed players in the hope that someone will take them off us and we can save more money, just as we did yesterday with George Williams. Quite how you think I'm referring to it as a bonus is beyond me there. And yep we got more money last year from being a L2 side, but we've already plugged that gap with the aforementioned sales. And our wage budget is more than likely lower than it was last season.
You haven't been given anything though, you've had a huge chunk of the money you were receiving taken away. Just because it's called a parachute payment doesn't change the fact that it's less than half of what you were getting.

Of course. But on the flipside, the base point of our budget is automatically higher than the rest of the division because of a payment nobody else but Southend is receiving.

So basically:
Wrexham - spunked millions on Paul Mullin from TikTok United
Stockport - signed average players on 3 year contracts
Chesterfield - swindled the taxpayer and making a mockery of the transfer windows
Grimsby - building a 50-man squad to combat the boggy winters of publand football
Notts County- nice lads this season actually

Didn't we get 500k for Grist alone?
I’d imagine that’s a little high, someone mentioned 200k which I can see tbh. Think they only needed to give us 70k because of his age but the bidding war would have pushed that up. 500k would have been incredible business.

And Southend are fucked because Phil Brown picked up his copy of 'How to Win the Conference' at a car boot not realising it was the 2014 edition.

Ah right, I thought it has has confirmed at 460k for some reason but I can't actually see it anywhere now, so it's almost definitely not that much then I agree.

I reckon if Dembele goes it's gonna be a late one, maybe even as late as deadline day.

Would be wonderful should it happen, the minimum you’d expect is 600k if we have a 20% sell on, anything north of £4million and we’re laughing.

Worth noting that we’ve made more in player sales than any other club in this league this summer and if Siriki Dembele is sold (which looks certain) we’ll have made more than most clubs entire yearly playing budgets.

Our new model is designed to allow us to be sustainable no matter who is running the club next, however if Deadpool or Stockports owners go walkabout then you’re both absolutely fucked.

That's not necessarily true. Our owner is investing as much into our academy than our first team. Rumours are we're selling one or already sold one to Brighton this summer in Jack Hinchy. This will only go from strength to strength from the plans I've seen.

Jordan Maguie-Drew shouldn't be playing at ths level ability wise, he was excellent for us when we won the league down here. Scored some great goals for us in League Two the season afterwards as well and puts in some great crosses and set plays.

All sounds great as E10rifle would say, then you realise he can't tackle, doesn't really know what to do off the ball, can quickly end up blowing out of his arse and giving the ball away, time and time again. All Sizzle and no Sausage.

A shame to say because he has so much ability. Still a good signig for Woking though.

Grimsby fans now essentially Wrexham ones from the past 8-10 years, relentlessly banging on about how sustainable they are. Confirmed.

Well you certainly seem to have really researched what our new owners are doing. Fair dos.

He just wants a documentary.

Impossible to disagree with this. If we win the league from here it was rank as a big a shock as Barrow or Sutton’s triumphs

It seems the transfer madness has spread to NLS, or NLN, whichever one Telford are in anyway.

They’ve only gone and signed Kyle Bennett, who was on trial for us and looked pretty interested and useful. Most of our fans expected him to join, but it was unexpectedly announced he’d left.

Rumour has it he has penned a deal worth circa £3k a week at The New Bucks Head - INSANE figures for step 2.

Your move, Dorking/Fylde!

Are there any AFC Telford fans on here? It has come to my attention they have signed Elliott Durrell this summer too.

Please show yourselves and justify how you can afford this outrageous spending.

Don't AFC Telford only exist because the original club spent too much money and went bust? Glad to see they've learned from that.

Seems he was born in Telford, a romantic return home. He did look alright, think we’d have signed him if it looked like Cal’s legs were about to fall off again.

That's a mad amount to pay Bennett, no wonder we got rid if that's what he's expecting.

I thought we dodged a bullet as apart from the goal against Coalville he looked a proper lightweight to me.

They can pay whatever they want. Players join us to pull on the famous white jersey. They know when they sign for us with our track record, that at some point they’ll be playing at Wembley. They’re all throwing crazy money about. York have an unbelievable strike force. Boston have signed really well. Telford have been throwing silly money about as well but none of these teams have 2 stars on their shirts and until they do, please don’t compare us

Telford aren't known to be big spenders in our division. Bennett is from there and Durrell is from Shrewsbury, so both just convenient more than anything.

Look at the Stockport fans trying to compare us signing an 18 year old on loan as going for it!

Yes our squad might be massive but we probably got 10 players on the same wages as one of yours!

It's called quantity over quality.

The crazy spending has reached the depths of North West Counties Prem with firstly Congleton paying Tom Pope and Gary Roberts a combined £12k a week (plus expenses) but we've gazumped them with us giving Alex Bruce a 7 figure signing on fee plus £18k a week.

Our squad does look pretty bulky on the side of things. on the top of my head (I may be missing a few).

GK - James McKeown, Max Crocombe, Sam Russell (coach)
LB - Adam Crookes, Sebastien Revan (loan)
CB - Shaun Pearson, Luke Waterfall, David Longe-King
RB - Michee Efete, Ryan Sears
CM - Harry Clifton, Ben Fox, Giles Coke, Luke Spokes, Alex Hunt (loan)
LW/RW - Joel Grant, Sean Scannell, Erico Sousa, Max Wright, Will Bapanga (loan)
AM - John McAtee
ST - Lenell John-Lewis, Ryan Taylor

Transfer Listed: Ira Jackson Jr, Filipe Morais, Joe Starbuck, Duncan Idehan.
Probably got a handful of first and second year pros on max £200 a week.

I'd say we are on about 26/27 to be generous. I think that the latter 3 on the transfer list will find clubs, Morais has had a decent career and still very very good on the ball but has no legs so might be one we struggle getting rid of.
