Scored both goals against us last season in Aldershot’s two 1-0 wins, so I’m happy to see the back of him.
That is cheap for the self proclaimed "Sheffield Iniesta"I have it on good authority that out 2 new loan signings are both on 18k per week.
32 players contracted. 6 of them turned pro last season or this. 1 is a GK coach. 1 is out on loan. 3 more have been told they can leave and it was said at the end of last season that their wages would not affect our budget this season.Grimsby's squad is massive. Doesn't matter if some are on the transfer list. They're still getting paid.
By my count it’s now 30 strong with 6 of those being first year pros. We have 6-8 out injured and around 4 left on the transfer listGrimsby's squad is massive. Doesn't matter if some are on the transfer list. They're still getting paid.

Stop trying to deflect from your own excessive squad.
Still paying them though, Lew and bringing in more by the day. That was the crux of my point. Grimsby are right up there in the budget stakes.By my count it’s now 30 strong with 6 of those being first year pros. We have 6-8 out injured and around 4 left on the transfer list
Mate, Mullin was part of the project. You're allowed to make big signings if it's part of a project. I made that rule up last season and I'm not going to change it now.We also have 20 players (3 second year pros)
So the 12 extra players more than make up for 1 Mullin

Thank you! I am indeed. Should be up next Thursday!I think I know more about everyone else’s teams more than my own with the amount of research this bloody blog needs to do it justice!
Are you doing another season preview?
Really enjoyed your effort last year................good effort and indeed well researched.
Whilst the parachute payment is £500k more than the rest of us are getting it's still a damn sight less than you were getting last year.Stockport signing players on 9k pw and calling us out for loaning an 18 year old from Coventry. Couldn’t make that shit up.
Feel free to also ignore the fact that we've received a parachute payment which is given to us for the exact purpose of transitioning to a lower level and that we've made about a million in player sales and clause triggers this summer.

The point is that around a third of our massive squad is aged 20 or under and probably on about £300 pw each and hardly going to feature. You lot that have been down here so long probably don't remember how youth academies work, so all is forgiven.
Did you read my post? I quite blatantly said it's given to us for the purpose of transitioning to this level, ie. managing our wage budget and allowing us to keep paying those transfer listed players in the hope that someone will take them off us and we can save more money, just as we did yesterday with George Williams. Quite how you think I'm referring to it as a bonus is beyond me there. And yep we got more money last year from being a L2 side, but we've already plugged that gap with the aforementioned sales. And our wage budget is more than likely lower than it was last season.Whilst the parachute payment is £500k more than the rest of us are getting it's still a damn sight less than you were getting last year.

We were always gonna go relatively big, but not bonkers and that's exactly what we've done I think.I'm not saying it's a wrong. I'm just pointing a few things out. Compliment if anything. I'm saying don't sleep on Grimsby. They've gone big and the pressure is ramped up on Paul Hurst.
I'm not saying they're not pros, I meant that first and second year graduates will be on very low wages. If they've signed pro contracts they aren't Academy players any more.
I might be going off duff information but I work out that 6 of your 32 players are under the age of 20 (about 1 fifth). Weve only got 2 under 20, although half our squad are under 24.
As SoC has kindly pointed out, those 6 youths combined won’t be costing us more than £2k a week. Again, parachute payments are there to soften the blow of relegation, meaning Danny Rose and Filipe Morais can waste away in the reserves if they please (Ira Jackson will be on peanuts). We’ve made at least half a million in transfers so far and if Siriki Dembele goes, that will go above a million.32 players is insane you mentalist.
6 of them turned pro this season or last? Irrelevant, are they on the books or not?
3 or more have been told to leave but won't affect the budget? Again, irrelevant. Shows the strength of your budget if anything that you can do that. A lot of these are ex league players.
We've got a 20 man squad. The project dictates that it is kept lean, thankyou very much.

You actually missed a great opportunity earlier. I had written that we'd made a million in player sales and clauses being triggered...if you'd have acted quickly enough you could have quoted me and said NOT THE ONLY THING BEING TRIGGERED but I swifly edited.
Didn't we get 500k for Grist alone? As SoC has kindly pointed out, those 6 youths combined won’t be costing us more than £2k a week. I’m very pleased for you that you’ve got your lovely 20 man squad. We’ve probably got 1 player (McKeown) being paid more than £2k a week - how many of yours will be?
