Our record with big striker signings is the stuff of legend. Danny Haynes is the best, signed a guy who was scoring goals in the Championship on big wages who was only 25. Within a year of leaving us he was playing for Cray Wanderers.

Once got hauled off at half time and had his loan terminated after a shocking display that had the management seething so much he was apparently on a train back home before full time...

Zoko as well. Huge excitement around his signing, but he flopped.

Izale McLeod, Kristian Dennis and Kane Hemmings (both okay individually but we did get relegated as title favourites), Leroy Lita…

Aiming to publish Thursday 19th, 2 days before the start of the season. It's about half way there at the moment. Every time I think I have a club sussed they sign someone and make me rethink the way they're going to play!
Definitely my favourite pre-season read. Looking forward to it.

If you were to times Mullin’s wage by the number of season tickets Wrexham have sold by the Tshimanga fee by the amount of away fans Southend will have at Kings Lynn you would reach a figure so vast it would send the worlds’ greatest mathematical minds insane just trying to comprehend it.

I actually tried to work this out (9k x 5k x 250k x 1.5k) and it broke my calculator. Try it yourself. Brings up some number with an ‘e’ in it?

i.e the figures being thrown around NL this preseason are literally off the scale!

16,875,000k

I just did 9x5x250x1.5 and then added 3 noughts onto the answer.

We need a thread predicting what Lee will predict. I predict he’ll have us in 3/4 with Chesterfield winning it. Maybe a shock relegation for a belt in there?

it's actually 9x5x250x1.5 then 4 lots of 3 noughts as each one has a K
so 16,875,000,000,000,000 or 16,875,000,000,000K
(with that then divided by the number of Southend fans at Kings Lynn - which will obviously be greater than 1 - even given the shit roads)

I’ll begrudgingly give you LJL despite the fact Hursts blind faith in him has cost us multiple times but he’s too well liked by 50% of our fan base to ignore.

Hannah, yes.

Cook - Great signing but Hurst ruined him here IMO, another good player that he just ‘didn’t fancy’ who went on to be a good goal scorer at our level. Can’t give Hurst the credit IMO.

JPP - MAYBE, if you judge him on him being a backup striker, 15 goals in 59 appearances is okay considering the amount of starts he had. You could argue he just simply wasn’t good enough to start (and the penalty miss still riles me)
JPPs penalty still hasn’t come down

Alex Hunt to Grimsby on loan from Sheffield Wednesday confirmed until January. Seems like a bit of a coup from what I can tell, although you never know with these things.

A midfield of Coke, Fox and Hunt with Clifton & Spokes as back up is a pretty exciting proposition. Fox especially has gone under the radar but looks a proper player.

In actual confirmed transfer news, Jordan Maguire Drew signs for Woking.

Good signing at this level. Doesn't have the work rate in him to play higher. Will certainly be great for Woking on set pieces and score the odd blinder from outside the box.

Amazed no one picked up Maguire-Drew before us, makes me think something must be putting managers off. Was once one of the best players at this level yet needed a two-week trial with us to get a club. Happy with the signing, though. We needed some more creativity through midfield and someone to put in a decent set piece considering the height we have.

Maguire-Drew was at Crawley the second half of last season. Did ok, scored, assists but honestly a bit meh. Shame as he is a Crawley boy who went to school across the road from the stadium.

Manny Adebowale has signed for Havant & Waterlooville on a season long long loan. A very tall centre back who seemed to play right back for us. We never saw enough of him to make a proper judgement but he seemed solid.

I think I know more about everyone else’s teams more than my own with the amount of research this bloody blog needs to do it justice!
Are you doing another season preview?
Really enjoyed your effort last year................good effort and indeed well researched.

I liked Maguire Drew when he was with us. He obviously hated it and couldn't wait to leave (playing with Mike Fondop will do that) but he clearly had bags of ability.

Hes still only 23, I was shocked to learn. If he recaptured his form thats a top signing for Woking.

Another ex-Dover player has gone to Havant - Oscar Gobern.

His brother, Lewis, was one famously knocked out at training by Lee Ridley for apparently bringing a knife to training. Must’ve been a great connection because he broke his nose, the best thing Ridley ever did for us.
