I think people are going to be surprised when they see Mullin play. A lot of people seem to have the idea hes just some guy who has struck lucky with one good season.
Some of these Notts County fans especially. I personally hope they carry on talking down our signings.

If we sign Tozer and one of these midfielders we seem to be rumoured with (Callum Guy, Alex Woodyard) we probably have the best defence, midfield and strikeforce in the league on paper, as well as a top manager who has 3 promotions on his CV. I don't think the Notts County side is overly strong which could cost them if teams start to figure out how to play against Burchnall's fancy-dan football, and I think Chesterfield are lacking at the back. Yet to be convinced by Simon Rusk at Stockport as well.

Dagenham's to lose this season, definitely.

We've kept clean sheets in 50% of our games since Rowe was appointed so we'll be rate.

Huge grudge match next Monday. Wait until Parkinson gets wind that some people on the internet have called his signings ‘slightly underwhelming’, that’ll be pinned straight to the dressing room wall.
Our giants in midfield will absolutely overwhelm you lot, we won't even need TheEndIsNigh's ramblings put on the wall.

Having the best players is one thing but having the best team is another. I’ve said it a few times now there is always a joker in the pack like Barrow, Sutton and Macclesfield that will trump everyone. The fact more money teams exist this season then any other season before it’s probably more likely one will actually go and win it.

A manager like Parkinson or Rowe is more likely to do better than Rusk or Burchnall, still can’t look past Chesterfield for the title as they’ve added to what was a really good side and kept their best players. Season too early for Wrexham but they’ll be a close second. One of the other big money clubs will miss the top 7 altogether.

This is why it's yours to lose.

Some strange myth amongst this forum that our defence is crap which I’ve always found odd considering the point you’ve just made

If he mentions ‘scattergun’ as well we’re truly fucked.

That’s not how you spell ‘informed but entertaining football punditry’.

Hopefully Rowe will pin chief's post to the dressing room wall to really fire the lads up.

Notts will beat us with an undeserved 1 nil, like both times last year.

Sir, there was nothing undeserved about our complete dismantling of you at the Racecourse. That we spent the entire second half cowering from Gold Omotayo does not matter.

Another team with pandemic insurance?

They've signed some really established ex football league players. Pringle, Leitch Smith, Furman, Fitzpatrick.

Not to mention Colclough. Are they this year’s Barrow/Sutton?

One of your fans said it on here so I've since took it as gospel. It's my job to find any rumoured weakness in other teams in this league and make sure everyone's aware, just as it's my job to big oil rich Wrexham up.

On the subject of players dropping down into this division from long Football League careers/being journeymen, Craig Disley fell into this category and was probably the most consistent midfielder in this division for about 5 years so it's not entirely inconceivable that somebody else can do that and it's not completely all about hoovering up the best talent in the division.

Also on the subject of Mullin surprising people, he was very very good last year so I agree with whoever said that people might be underestimating how good he will be but I'll say again what I said when he signed. Wrexham don't have Wes Hoolahan taking the piss and they don't have the likes of Ironside and Knoyle who were very good last season for Cambridge. Mullin will need his team mates to give him some great service and they might well be able to, but they haven't got as good creative options as he had alongside him last season.

I've cast doubt on Chesterfields defence on here. I dont think its crap, just that on paper the individuals are nothing special. Gunning etc. If there is a weaker element in the squad thats where it appears to be.

I've also said I wouldn't be surprised if they won the league so clearly I dont think they have a crap defence. I know Chessie fans only deal in hyperbole.

The only thing James Rowe will post on the changing room door is the baby bunny hes just killed. The big mentalist.

I think the thing about him needing team mates to provide him with great service bit is a myth. From what I've seen of him so far, he's more than capable of crafting his own chances out of nothing. In fact, that's exactly how he won our penalty on Saturday.

Not saying that individual brilliance providing great service would go amiss though, and having players like Hyde, Davies and McAlinden up there with him should help him score at least 20.

A Chesterfield fan belittling our team? Never!!

If you didn’t know, we are far too positive for our own good… just ask EnglishRed

Who should we be signing then from rivals? Mullin is better than Tshimanga. Hayden better than most centre backs down here. Plus we already have some quality players and a top keeper when he’s fit.

Bearing in mind Stockport and Chesterfield are spending ridiculous money on wages for players too.
Are we?

I can't imagine any of our players are on 'ridiculous money' - Danny Rowe, Tshimanga, Asante and Oyeleke the only ones I can imagine being on over 1.5k a week.

Khan too, we would have offered him similar to that. Grand a week is about average at this level these days for a full time pro so 1500 is not huge wage anymore, specially with all the big hitters. Stop downplaying your spending it’s daft.

Forgot about Khan - you're probably right that he is in the above category of higher earners.

When you look at our starting line up, a good chunk of them were signed from other NL, or NL North/South sides - we aren't signing players from League 1 on mega wages.

No matter who they sign, their manager is the biggest asset at that club. Almost worked a complete miracle at Nantwich then two promotions with Altrincham. I could see him being our next manager when Artell leaves given he did a lot of coaching here and knows the club. But for now, I hope he keeps rising his stock at Altrincham. They'll be fine this season, even if the likes of Pringle and Ajay are a little washed up.
