Scott Wagstaff has left us for Bromley.
Can’t say I’m too disappointed in this, don’t think we ever saw the best in him but he seems a decent enough player for this level.

Was never really fit to see what he could do but we can't afford to keep someone like that. Also with Whittingham, Sylla and Harris i'm not sure he even gets in our first choice team at the moment.

We need to use whatever money we have on getting in a keeper and a striker

In a very Alty-esque move, Jordan Hulme has signed on loan.

Personally I would not have him near the place after he signed a contract last season, and proceeded to fuck off to Fylde literally the day before the season started.

I hate the re-signing of old players, always ends up being slightly shit. Or they were players you never liked anyway.

Ugh, hope I'm proved wrong

You've been very kind to extend James Berry-McNally's loan with us for the rest of the season though, so thanks for that! Excellent footballer, but difficult to tell whether he'd be able to step up to NL level in the next year or 2.

Jayden Richardson confirmed until the end of the season. Massive news, right wing back was our obvious weak position and he’s been fantastic.
Richardson along with Patterson in goal has massively strengthened us. Two very strong signings for this division.
With Vincent emerging as an absolute machine in midfield we are looking very strong as a squad.
We should go very close now, no excuses not to be pushing for top spot.

Just got to get through January without losing anyone but yeah, not too bothered about bringing any more in now at all. I don’t think we have the depth of others (our one bad run of form this season was when we couldn’t cope with a few injuries) but the starting xi matches ip to anyone, no excuses not to at least go very close.

The bad run was partly Burchnalls fault, he picked Francis over Vincent. Francis was terrible at Altrincham, he picked Vincent out of desperation after another dreadful performance at Tamworth. We've not looked back since he got in the team.
I think we have got depth now except for cover if Wootton is out for long.

I still have my doubts about Notts. It’s your away record and Burchnalls lack of willingness to mix it up when necessary that would worry me if I was you. You seem to be a bit one dimensional in that Burchnall will literally have his centre backs splitting trying to play out from the back on a farmers field rather than adapting to the opposition and conditions in front of you. A quick look shows that your 12th in the league on away form having gained 12 pts from a possible 27 so far

I’m not surprised in the slightest that you’re so strong at home given the size of your pitch and quality of the surface and I don’t think there will be many teams that get anything out you at Meadow Lane, but unfortunately you’ve also got 22 away games to play! No doubting quality of some of your players, but all the top teams in this league have some very good players now so it will undoubtedly come down to the smaller details… one of those details being who is capable of ‘mixing it’ and who isn’t! Interesting that the top 5 away records in the league are Us, Wrexham, Stockport, Halifax and BW*

*Granted Wrexham and Stockports home records aren’t great at this moment in time but no doubt in my mind that will improve now Wrexhams squad is starting to settle and undoubted reinforcements this window, aswell as DC arrival at Stockport.

Fully agree with that - it’s no coincidence our good away results have come at places with a nice surface and bigger ground. It’s why I’ve said a few times this week that the trips to Dover and King’s Lynn in the next few days are massive for us and just the kinds of places we will drop points. Obviously we should be going for top spot, but it’s absolutely vital we finish third at worst, would fancy us with two home games and then maybe that Wembley pitch.

Also why Cameron is so important to us. He’s decent on the ball but also massive and a bit of a shithouse, which is pretty unique in our team. No coincidence all four losses this season came when he was out injured.

I wouldn't argue with your analysis, we've had some poor away performances and results. We're only halfway through the season though and I'm hoping we kick on rather than fall away.
Next couple of games , Dover and Kings Lynn away are games we need to be winning but they feel like potential banana skins.

Dover and Kings Lynn are both useless tbf so even playing your way on their cow fields you probably won’t have too many issues getting the result! The next run of away games for you will be where the test of your title credentials come I think..

Wealdstone - notorious cowfield
Bromley - the infamous 3G
Solihull - Another cowfield, tight pitch, physical team
Woking - As above ^^
Us - Need I say more? ;)

I see you’ve got some pretty tough home games in between those too, so if you get through that period with a good amount of points and then I absolutely agree you will be more than in the mix, especially with that favourable run of games at the end of the season!!

Our only issue is , we've still got to play every one below us.

When was the last game you went to at Grosvenor Vale, to be qualified to call it a cow field.

Must be the fact you’ve only ever lost there, if you don’t win this year you can try again next year.
We've lost to massive clubs all though the pyramid, you'll always dream of who we've lost to.
PS . We're off to lose at Chelsea tomorrow. :)

Not sure if you’re away but Wealdstone beat Barnet this year! Doesn’t get bigger than that

And their fans FORCED our players to stay on the pitch:bdick:

Think you’re underestimating Burchnall a bit there ODL, in that he’s probably better at adapting and changing things up during games than most managers we’ve had in the last 10 years, also I don’t think we’ve played on proper cow field since he came in so I dunno if we’d still try playing it out, or go a bit more direct. Since the Halifax debacle we’ve been a lot better on the road too, the annual defeat at Eastleigh notwithstanding.

Anyway, you’re right that we will know a lot more after that run of away games. Feel it’s going to be a fascinating finish, just hope Covid doesn’t turn it into a farce!

Suprised Wrexham hasn’t announced a signing yet tbh. Clubs knowing they have money and asking for crazy prices?

and he has moved to the Welsh Prem to sign for Newtown, seems like a recent drink drive offence may be the main factor in that....
Yeah, he got caught at 4am three times over the limit. Seems to be that it's his lack of his transport to training following his subsequent driving ban was the final nail in his Grimsby coffin. What a waste of a young player, he's good enough to be playing at this level.

we are doing our due diligence it seems. Our director and manager have both said they are plugging away in the background trying to find the right players. Money will be a factor, and of course we have the documentary coming up so a frantic Deadline day will make good viewing wont it :)

He was good enough for League 1!

This, plus teams not wanting to let players go due to the pandemic leaving squads very light for matches. Naturally, some fans are getting very twitchy about it but it's still early in the window and we don't play a league game until the 22nd so I'm pretty calm about it so far.

If we haven't got anyone in by the end of the week I may start to get a little nervous though.

I have come to the conclusion we won't sign anyone until the last few days.. then it will be mental.
Much better for the documentary that way.

Now watch us announce three signings this afternoon.....
