Tbf, I didn't mention us, I said that Tranmere and Eastleigh have recruited better then you so far imo.
Yes, and I said that Tranmere had signed Mansfied rejects (i.e Sutton and Riley). Eastleigh have done ok in signings (Payne) but with Hill in charge, they have no chance.
Maybe our signings aren't that exciting (Bogle aside) but in all fairness, do we really need that many big signings?

Pressure is all on Grimsby this time, Tranmere will need to adjust and Eastleigh need a defence. Lincoln dark horses for me, expecting a much improved Wrexham as well

We've signed Phil Turnbull from Gateshead. Any Gateshead fans give us a heads up on him?
Got probably the best midfielder out of the league, massive loss for us and I cant see us replacing him. With the addition of him im fancying yous to go straight up this year

We've not needed to recruit well due to the fact we already had a good squad. In Bogle we have a huge contender for top goalscorer, Monkhouse could end up being a good signing too.

I'm sure Hurst is no way near done yet either.

Rumours of two signings tomorrow. Tait and one of Elliott/Bird would be a Cam-tastic day of business.

Despite all the willy waving and bullishness, Grimsby's transfers so far don't look particularly awe inspiring. They did have a good base to build from, but for me both Eastleigh and Tranmere have recruited more impressively so far and look more likely title winners as things stand.

Lincoln's business looks a lot more shrewd as well.

Payne is a great signing for Eastleigh and Maynard is for Tranmere. However, other than that out of those two clubs most of their most signings come with a higher degree of risk than most of ours. In Gowling, Arnold and Monkhouse we've signed three players who were all very good players in this division at the end of last season. I've got a feeling that we're going to be going over the merits of the Bogle signing with a fair few more posters on here before the season kicks off, but we're all excited about him. No way of knowing how he'll do until August/September but I wouldn't swap that signing for any signing that any other team in the division has done. East isn't a signing that doesn't bowl us over immediately, but then neither were Magnay or Clay last season and they both went on to have impressive seasons. Plenty of those are the kind of signings across the division that might not seem awe inspiring at first, but will turn out to be shrewd deals further down the line.

Whilst I find all this Lincoln talk really nice, I can't see where anyone is coming from.

Defence - On paper, perhaps a bit more solid than last season i.e. it seems we'll have full backs who will actually defend rather than attack for 90 minutes.

Midfield - Lacks creativity and pace.

Strikers - If Hearn gets injured, we're not going to score many goals.

Moyses might pull 2 or 3 good signings out of the bag in the lead up to the season but as it stands, we're no-where near top 8 never mind PO's.

I'm surprised people are dismissing our Norwood signing or even calling it a risk. He scored 11 from the wing last season, 19 the year before from up-top, 16 the year before that. Biased, maybe, but I'd see this as less of a risk than Bogle who has never played at this level.

What we've been missing for about 3 years then. A decent one of those might have kept us up last season.

You say that, but without knowing too much about them (and I am hoping I will be put right on any of these if needed):
Maynard - Player of the season with Halifax?
Norwood - consistent goal scorer for the last 3 seasons at this level.
Hogan - Title winner with Fleetwood.
Sutton and Riley - Title winners with Mansfield.
Harris - solid performer at this level for a number of seasons.

I'm not saying that we are the favourites, because I believe Grimsby are. However, based solely on other peoples' feedback I think we have done some very solid, if unspectacular, transfer business so far.

He actually got all those goals playing in a wide position, as despite his preference we practically always played him on the wing. To consistently average 1 in 3 from out wide over that period of time is very impressive imo. Imagine how many he'd be scoring if he played through the middle? He's our record scorer at this level, and he's not even played as a striker. On the rare occasion he was, like for England C against Bermuda for example, he did well, scoring a hattrick in that game.

If you play to his strengths, he could easily win the golden boot. He's proven quality at this level, keep him happy and disciplined and he could be the signing of the season.

Lee Cook to Eastleigh as well. He's past it, I'm afraid.

I'm just sitting here in bemusement to be honest. Surely the public knows something we don't in this case, I still think it would be an achievement to scrape into the top half.

I'm expecting a lot of 1-0s next season, both for and against us.

Nothing to report from the Moss, still.

Would someone be so kind to just DM me about a new signing for their club and let me announce, just to be involved in all this again!

Aye teams have done better business than us. But why would you need to do much business when you kept the bulk of the squad that were arguably the best performing side for a long period towards the end of the season?

In Mckeown, Pearson, Gowling, Disley, Arnold and Mackreth we have arguably the most outstanding players in their respective positions in the league. I'd not swap them lot for anybody and I'm quite sure we'll soon be adding Bogle to that list.

Gowling? Well he's a decent defender. I wouldn't say he's the most outstanding defender in the league.

Grimsby have a decent experienced side. Maybe in Bogle you will get that extra dimension but I'm not so sure.

I'd not swap him for any other defender in this league judged on his performances for us.

If we had the squad we finished this season and had Bogle I'm quite sure we would've won the league

Oh give this a rest. You kept banging on about how if you'd kept that formation with Neilson in it all season, you'd have won the league. Then it was "if we had the team at the end of the season all season you'd have won the league." Now this.

You were the 3rd best team last season. Deal with it. You might be the best team this coming season, you might not.

The amount of Grimsby delusion is just boring now.

Grimsby and Tranmere currently are the teams to beat for me, on paper at least. I don't think you can call Mackreth the most outstanding player in his position though, have you not found him to have 3/4 great games a season with many many more where he can't even beat his man?
Gowling has been class every time I've watched him play against Macc and Mckeown is usually reliable.
Liam Hogan is a brilliant signing for Tranmere as long as he stays fit, best centre back at Macc last season for me (aside from Pilks).

Like I said, Maynard is a really good signing. With regards to Norwood and Riley, we had this discussion a few weeks back on page 50 of this very thread. My opinions on Norwood were backed up by the majority of Forest Green fans on here too. Hogan, I don't know enough about really. He wasn't at Fleetwood when they won the title though, I can tell you that much. Sutton is another one that I could say the same thing I have about Riley; that plenty of players are good in this division, go up to play in League Two and then upon dropping back down take time to adjust. When speaking about Riley this is also backed up by a few Stags fans saying that he has struggled for form. Admittedly, I'm not entirely sure about Sutton in that respect. I'm not really passing judgement on him though. If I was to hazard a guess about which will settle quicker, I'd go with Sutton. Harris has previously been more than a solid performer in this division. I'd go as far as saying the best CM in the division for a year or two back when Wrexham were managing regular playoff finishes. He's been some way off that standard for the majority of the past two seasons, though. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying any of these are terrible signings. I'm saying that they're riskier than the likes of Arnold, Monkhouse and Gowling who were all playing well in this division this season during the months of February, March, April and May.

Gowling isn't the the most outstanding centre half in the division. Pearson is, Gowling is second. Then it's Toto.

Fair play, you got that spot on. Seems like Brabin is really happy to have signed him, but again I have no idea if he is any good or not. Also, apologies to the Grimsby fan on Liam Hogan, I didn't realise he played for Fleetwood in League 2. And to be fair, name me a signing that isn't a gamble at this level.
