Not quite as drastic regarding Mackreth. He did struggle beating his man at times, especially earlier on in the season. However, he grew into the season from what I saw/heard (other Town fans feel free to correct me on any of this) and I think during the last month and a half or so of our league matches he was one of our best players. I think during the matches at the start of the season in which he wasn't performing he was very poor. However, he seemed to kick on and improve after being left out of the side at times. When he was being quiet towards the middle of the season, he seemed to be at least contributing more overall even if he wasn't flying down the wing like his clearly capable of. Had a disappointing playoff final, though.Grimsby and Tranmere currently are the teams to beat for me, on paper at least. I don't think you can call Mackreth the most outstanding player in his position though, have you not found him to have 3/4 great games a season with many many more where he can't even beat his man?
Gowling has been class every time I've watched him play against Macc and Mckeown is usually reliable.
Liam Hogan is a brilliant signing for Tranmere as long as he stays fit, best centre back at Macc last season for me (aside from Pilks).
How many times did Hogan play for you?
