Preach, Sire.

Hart and Halsall to take charge 'if we can't find someone experienced quickly'. Talk about having a plan, we're a fucking joke.

Hart hit one of our youth team a couple of weeks back, although apparently he wasn't aiming for him.
Just the kind of bloke you need in charge :)

Can't wait for Pressley to take over and Notts County to batter us 4-0 at Meadow Lane causing our fans to have mental breakdowns declaring Pressley the best manager in our history

Tried putting this into Google translate and it struggles to decipher the base language, anyone?

Luckily, I am fluent in moron.

'Oh, more woe for Notts County. Another sorry episode in the quite dismal history of, and I use hyperbole for dramatic effect here, probably the least popular club in the entirety of this footballing landscape we call 'the football league'. The aforementioned club have been an object of ridicule and laughter for a while now and what is more, I feel nothing but sadness in my heart of hearts for the honourable...nay the virtuous Shaun Derry. A man who has lost his job on this bitterly cold Monday because of an unpalatable organisation. A club so repugnant, it will no doubt throw my spelling and grammar all aquiver due to the incandescent rage at which I pound this keyboard.'

Although I was happy to translate this time Sire, I am a Mod after all, it would be helpful in future if you could use a handy cyber tool I created (and patented so don't steal it) which you can access over at;

Hmm. From an outside in point of view looks like the right decision regretably. Still respect Shaun for the miracle of last season but the home form just hadnt been good enough this season. ML used to be a fortress and a tough place to go? That needs to be brought back by his replacement. Looking at SkyBet. Nigel Adtkin or Uwe Rosler would be great. Id bee happy with Darren Fergie too.

Our home form has been shite for 3 seasons now. It's proper weird. We'd have made the play-offs under Curle if our home form was as good as our away form (he broke the club record of like 22 away games unbeaten) - this season we'd be challenging for 6th I think if our home form matched our away form. Last season we were shit home and away apart from the last 10 games or so...

Adkins and Rosler are out of our reach. I'd genuinely boycott if we appointed Darren Ferguson. I can't think of a worse appointment.

Our home form was pretty good the whole way through last season, we just never drew there. We won the sixth most home games or something.

Wish our shite club took this approach and sacked a man dining out on his past achievements.

Sick of our holier-than-thou fans who believe we're doing the right thing by not doing what every other club does all the fucking time.

We'd be battling with you at the bottom of League 2 if we had.

Mark Yates looks like the favourite, I'd guess on a short-term deal a bit like Mr Dougie across the river.

Whoever you appoint will probably keep you up now. Fair play for not keeping Abbott, or you'd have been relegated for sure. Good decision from an outside point of view, need to appoint someone who can take the club forward now though.

From the outside it seems like a bit of a harsh sacking to me. Derry keeping Notts up this season would arguably have been a bigger achievement than last season. Considering they lost Grealish, Bialkowski (Carroll a good replacement though), JCR, Spencer to injury, Liddle and Sheehan, who were all important to keeping the club up, it looked to me like it was going to be a tough ask this time round. The fact they had such a good start really surprised me, but I'm not too surprised to see results have dwindled once that defence started leaking.

This will probably come across as clueless to Notts fans, who obviously know the team and manager far better than I do.

Hope you can stay up though, enjoyed Meadow Lane earlier this season, and not just because of the late winner

It's just the home form. He's already broken the record for most home defeats in a season by March, we'd have been left with no fans in a couple of weeks.

That team we ended the season with was - Bialkowski, Dumbuya, Mullins, Hollis, Sheehan, Campbell-Ryce, Vela, Liddle, Thompson, Grealish, Spencer. That team would 100% have finished top 6 this season. So he didn't really need to replace them, we never expected a great season, so just alternatives to keep us up.

Derry really didn't have a tough job this year in my opinion and in fact he did a very good job for the first 3 months but since then his management in just about every area has been unspeakably bad - it's hard to really fathom why but there was no chance we would have stayed up if he wasn't sacked - he'd completely and utterly lost it...and the breaking the record for most home losses in our history is something that is unforgivable, you can't come back from that or go unpunished.

Fair enough mate, as I said I only have an outsiders view, you all seem pretty unanimous the sacking was the correct decision.

I imagine it must be a bit gutting that it didn't work out in the end, he seemed a pretty good fit

Yeah it's weird ha. Sky Bet must be loving his little prank. His odds are slipping back out now though, so people have clearly realised it was joke and have put money on Yates and Hart.

We're looking to bring in a couple of players and a manager. The deadline is Thursday so you'd have to think they've at least got an idea of who the manager will be - kinda talked myself into Yates till the end of the season I think. I think Pressley/Johnson would do ok too but I don't really want them beyond this season so...

Can't say I'm shocked, will make or break Notts Countys season. Probably sent us down by sacking Derry!

Alan Smith/Gary Jones for manager.............!

Anyone remember when Pierre Littbarski turned up for an interview when Short got the job? I would be intrigued by a foreign manager, Gattuso at the lane would be a nice novelty.

I just hope we get somebody a little smart and canny. The thing that grated me most about Derry was his inability to use words other than 'passion' etc. and explain how things had gone wrong. He just wasn't very bright. Nigel Worthington may be alrightish. Shame Ronnie Moore is in a job, would have done decently for us also.

Ho hum, another one bites the dust.
I honesty I had given up on this season and would have probably been ok with Derry staying on.
That said the worst home record is something you can't do and keep your job. Especially as thats where the club "attempts" to make its money and its losing fans.
My only real gripe with Derry was his repeated "I will be looking for a response from the players next game" which obviously (A) didn't happen and (B) was said too often this season.

Thinking left field - how about Brian Deane. Had a couple of successful seasons in Norway with a shoestring budget. Seems hungry and bright and has returned to a England looking for a job.
