Why is Darren Ferguson such a bad choice to take over?

I read a eulogy of his time at Peterborough which stated Peterborough's woes were down to the chairman selling first team players out from under him. Some of them going to Championship and Premier League sides.
It's obvious he can spot talent and has connections through his illustrious father to the best of that talent.

Why can't he succeed at County?

Steady on.

We did sell players, but for silly money (Gayle 6m, Assombalonga 5.5m), don't pretend he never got that money back to reinvest because he did.

Transfer fee wise, we have the most expensively assembled squad in League One minus possibly Sheffield United and he had us in 15th.

Look, you give Ferguson a squad of young players with real potential, he'll develop them really well and play exciting football. Give him anything else, and you're fucked. He has no plan B either.

Ferguson didn't find a lot of our 'talents' - He wasn't responsible for CMS, McLean, Boyd, Tomlin, or Gayle. He was behind Assombalonga and Bennett, and fair play for those,

To be fair to him though, he also pushed massively to develop the club off the field and he's a big part of our successful youth system and new training ground too so we thank him for that, and he did win three promotions with us and will always be considered one of our finest ever managers for that.

He'd keep Notts County up, but I'm not entirely sure they would have the budget he desires to take them any further than that.

Speaking of James Beattie, We interviewed him earlier in the season and someone who was in during interviews said he was the worst candidate. I see Paul Cox has shown interest, That bloke is deluded.

I love Paul Cox, probably for the same reasons you'd hate him. His interviews were always brilliantly deluded - you always have great managers for interviews. I think my top 3 are Palmer, Holdsworth and Cox.

Beattie doesn't fit what we're openly looking for either. Not that I really know what they're looking for but a 37 year old with one season of experience and a 27% win ratio, ain't it.

Yates is still the clear favourite in my eyes. I can see how Pressley and Johnson would be of interest - Ferguson, Wilson and Hart would just be shambolic appointments. Ferguson has about as much experience in our situation as any rookie you could pick, Wilson has failed at his last 3 jobs, all at L1 level and Hart is...Hart. A good football bloke and very skilled in certain areas (it's great he's running our academy for instance) but he's a fucking atrocious manager.

Holdsworth and Cox both talked a good game but that's about it. Both fucking dinosaurs aswell with their styles. We sure do know how to pick them!

Hold me back.

He's fucking shit basically, I could give you a 500 word essay about why I hate him (mostly irrational hate) but in a nutshell...shit.

I will never forgive him for that miss against Sheff Utd either. Never. Useless donkey.

'but but but ASSISTS' - fuck your assists.

Trew has said a couple of really weird things tonight at the lifeline evening apparently.

1) Revelations in the next week, fans will be appeased
2) You will be quite surprised by an announcement this week.

:thumbs:Fuck knows with this club anymore. Just laugh at everything as it happens I guess.

Lol he has got a few assists. We do need a left winger though and he can't be worse than Myles Weston

We've obviously had both and I'm not so sure about that.

Be hilarious if the revelation is that he's putting the club up for sale. Meltdown - it'd serve the bellends right if he just stopped subsidising us and we slipped into oblivion. Some Notts fans are proper cocks.

Yeah, I've just heard they've found who they want and it's coincided with Fergie's odds tumbling.

Trying to decide the best setting for my suicide when it's made official

The only positive is that it means the selling up doomsday scenario must be bollocks.

It's Fergy.

He'll walk within 3 months. I can't see him doing stuff on a shoestring budget. He squandered Boro's millions

We won't even have a shoestring budget. It's perfectly good enough for a skilled manager, which he isn't.

Graham Westley is a better manager than Darren Ferguson, probably more likable as well

Unless you've got millions to blow on non league players, Ferguson is completely shite.

Any fucker could have got us promoted the 3 times he did, with the money that DMac threw at the club.

Would names like Gary Megson or Billy Davies have got the pulses racing?

Curbishley ain't doing anything either.

It's the year 2015 mate, have you been in a coma?

I understand Megson, but Davies and Curbishley?

I would've said Jose Riga but he's back with Standard Liege.

Uwe Rosler?

Rosler isn't remotely realistic. There's a chance he'd be accepting a job where there's a good chance he'll be managing in League 2 next season.

Surely you can sell the club to Rosler, who has been out of work since Wigan. It wasn't that long ago he was managing Brentford in league 1.

Bob Peeters is another good shout.
Warburton is also out of work in the summer, but will no doubt get something in the Championship. But should an opening not materialise he might be willing turn the S.S. Notts County around.

Who would have thought Hyypia would have left Leverkusen and european football for Brighton?

There's no harm in asking some of these names. The worst they can say is no.
