Because apparently our chairman is chucking money at it and we were a goalscorer away from being a top eight side last year, despite it being utterly shit.

I think you'll do fine but cannot see you, or Preston, troubling the top six or top half based on your current squads, truth be told there isn't a single player in either squad i'd have at S6.
I don't either currently - but the way Cotterill and Burt performed, I'd thoroughly back them to do it again, and we won't fall into the category of having a 'small budget' in this division, but as always - I stand to be corrected.

We haven't been in any relegation threat for the last couple of years now and I don't see us losing any of our better players this summer so, for the first time in our Championship years, I don't think we'll go down.

I'll make a prediction a day before the season starts, could stick anyone anywhere at the minute.

It's always good to look back at the end of the season and see who got closest and who is a fucking retard. We missed out cos of the switchover this year unfortunately :(

I'll wait until July to do mine. And it'll still be spectacularly wrong come the end of the season.

I'm surprised at so many people saying Hull will finish in the autos tbh, I don't think any of the relegated teams will bounce straight back.

One thing I will say now is that I'd be surprised if Burnley challenge for promotion again. I think Dyche might leave early in the season.

Some interesting predictions out there, we've been predicted as low as 17th and as high as 1st :bl:

1 - Middlesbrough
2 - Hull
--------------------------
3 - Burnley
4 - Ipswich (Another season of progression, not quite title winning though)
5 - Brentford (Depends how the new manager gets on at the start of the season)
6 - Wolves
--------------------------
7 - QPR
8 - Huddersfield (Generally think this might be the season they make real progress, always looked good when I've seen them)
9 - Sheffield Wednesday
10 - Birmingham
11 - Derby (Simply listening to Derby fans here!)
12 - Charlton
13 - Bristol City
14 - Bolton
15 - Blackburn (Losing Rhodes and Gustede(?), and under an embargo)
16 - Cardiff
17 - Preston
18 - Forest (On a down turn, under some sort of embargo)
19 - Brighton (Unless they get rid of Hughton)
20 - MK Dons
21 - Reading
--------------------------
22 - Fulham
23 - Leeds
24 - Rotherham

Will drop my predictions in here come a few months time. Middlesbrough will need to replace Bamfords goals if they're going to perform anywhere near aswell as some are suggesting ITT.

Won't scroll back through but whoever suggested a Mick McCarthy championship side would finish 17th made me chuckle a little. Hey, I know anything can happen in this league but we would have to spectacularly self-destruct for that to happen regardless of summer signings. I expect we'll be somewhere between the prediction(s) of 'comfortably' inside the playoffs, and just outside them... no doubt coming down to last few games of the season.

Of course, probably nonsense come two months time! However I don't expect us to sell anybody other than Mings which makes me optimistic of at least having something to play for come around the point of this time next year..

Pretty sure I had Wigan down to be champions, so put me in the latter camp.

Quite a lot of predictions for us to finish 21st/22nd :mell:

Don't want to bash people's predictions too much, as I can't say for definite that we won't be relegated, much much stranger things have happened, but I think it will be very unlikely.

I'd like to think that 14/15 season was about as bad as it should get. This time last year we were in the middle of an ownership crisis, weeks away from administration, selling our best striker on the cheap and in the middle of a 300ish day period of no transfers. Meaning we made late and rushed transfers. A manager that didn't suit our style. Distraction and priority of a FA Cup run.

We had the quality last season, you don't have the second best record against the top 8 in the division, or get to a FA Cup semi final without quality. Just never had the consistency.

Reckon we're 4 players off a decent play-off challenge, but don't think we'll bring in all 4 this season, hence my prediction of lower-mid table.

I would say around 10-16 is where we will finish depending on who leaves and who comes in.

To be honest, I got to 21st and thought who haven't I had yet!

IMO, the bottom three will be cut adrift and 15-21 will be quite close so could be anywhere in them 6 positions.

14-16th for me. Don't think we'll make as much improvement as many fans want. Mainly due to the fact that we'll still be quite limited on transfers and so not get all of the positions needing improving done straight away.

Keep Federici and I feel it's guaranteed we'll do better as then our team shouldn't be any weaker. Lose Pogrebnyak and Robson-Kanu from the wage bill (as the last few high earners along with Williams) and then we could challenge for play-offs already. Don't see either of them wanted by others though.

I normally say if you stand still in this division without making any transfers you'll go backwards. But I feel that given how young most of our team are even just sticking by them should improve our fortunes.

Have QPR got off the FL fine then? Transfer embargo maybe? I can't see them in the top 10 especially if they have a points penalty.

Aside from a good 2 month spell after Lennon was appointed they were pretty poor. Ended the season dreadfully.

Like the other clubs with transfer embargoes, they'll do worse than last season. Problem with Bolton is that doing worse is pretty much bottom 3.
We don't have a transfer embargo, we also lost 8 first team players during the period straight after the good run. We'll finish above Reading

Fair do's, must have got you confused with another club that got embargoed.

We'll finish above you though, no problem.

I love the firm predictions and irritation at others already!

It's going to be a great summer.

Can see why people have us as favourites to go down or finish bottom.

As for some of the predictions on Bristol, Preston and Mkat Dons, please see my post on the welcome to Preston thread.

Some people almost definetly were smacked off their tits this afternoon.

No one would have predicted Brentford and Wolves having the season they had, so to base predictions on Bristol and Preston doing the same is borderline lunacy,

It's a highly addictive drug. Funnily enough talking to TVP plod, apparently Milton Keynes has a massive problem with M-Cat, not sure if SERNWA has a high ranking job in the TVP vice squad or if it's lucky guess. We've been called worse I suppose. :ds:

No shock to see you picking us to go down BCS, swear you were probably expecting 5 Yeovil goals in Injury time a couple of weeks ago. :ffs:

Partly due to our budget tbh, I hope to be more optimistic about it after our first few signings but we are in new territory and we've gone from being one of the better teams in a league to one what could struggle.

Based on current squads? You've got Bristol 10th and Preston 12th with Burnley 20th and Brentford 13th? Seen as no signings have been made, how on earth have two promoted teams from league one got better teams than Burnely who's just dropped out of the premiership and Brentford who were in the championship play offs?
