Should've took a point really. Jones missed an absolute sitter after superb work from Wilson. Sucker punched with the third at the end on the break.

Rovers were a bloody good side. Best we've played all season by a country mile. Was a pretty tense and edgy game.

Worrall should never have started and he was woeful. Two goals coming from his side. Jones randomly came on in midfield and was atrocious too. Proper missed Brad Walker. No defensive minded midfielders made it tough.

Special mention to Gas fans though. Very good following and absolutely magnificent support. Extremely loud last 15 minutes. Loudest and best fans at VP for a long, long while. Hats off to you all. Tremendous backing for your boys.

Still in our hands thanks to Mansfield doing their annual bottle job effort. Exeter slipping up handy too as we're not the only side under pressure now.

Only our 2nd loss in 20 games. Let's not take the piss Vale fans and start being negative and spitting the dummies out hey? They're a bloody good side and we were bound to have an off day sooner or later. We just need to chalk it off as exactly that and go again on Saturday.

Im surprised at your decline. You looked decent in both games against us along with Exeter

Yeah County did look pretty good up to the Carlise game but then have fallen away badly.

It was soft, but it was a penalty. A silly challenge on an already stumbling player.

It was one of those games where a team gets battered for the majority of the game yet still wins. Saying that Newports best chance to equalise would have been an own goal from Louis John.
I cant begrudge Sutton the win. I thought you were unlucky to lose the first game against us.

It was a very close fought game. We just couldn’t get it to drop when the opportunity was there. Well done to Rovers though I think that referee should have done something about their keepers time wasting not that it impacted the result as such.

Just need to dust ourselves off, have a day or two rest and then we have a revenge mission against Walsall.

Fair play mate. I think thats the first time i've seen a Vale fan give us any credit on any forum.
Good advert for L2 footy that was.

I think both games had a similar vibe, with Sutton spending the majority of each game defending. We just did a better job this time around.

Comfortable comfortable win today against Harrogate, could have been 5 or 6 but we seemed to settle after the 3rd. 21st clean sheet, unreal defensive record.

What a win. We played really well in the second half. Best we’ve played in weeks to seal our safety.

But the turning point was one of the worst pieces of officiating I’ve ever seen in my life. Mansfield scored a goal, it was way over the line. I could see from my position in the paddock half way up the pitch. I will watch the replay later but I don’t need to, I could see. How a linesman who is pretty much in line with play cannot see that is quite frankly embarrassing. Mansfield will be sick and rightly so. Shocking.

We were abysmal second half, no chance we’re making the playoffs now.

A good performance today and we did enough to get the three points. Should have scored more based on the amount of chances we had in the first half, but scoring more than one was nice, and Jamma getting his first goal for a good time will help his confidence. Oldham fought hard in the second half and luckily for us missed a penalty, if that had gone in with 12 minutes remaining it could have ended differently. Not there yet. A seriously competitive game against Bristol Rovers next Saturday. Would happily take a point.

Exeter undoubtedly a very good footballing team by league 2 standards, but they couldn’t of hit a barn door with a banjo today. Brown’s shooting was actually worse than his haircut.
Don’t think 3-0 would of flattered us.

I thought we thoroughly deserved that. We completely stifled Exeter and restricted them to shots from distance, while looking creative and dangerous with the ball ourselves.

We are excellent at home, and why we can't produce anything resembling football away from Prenton Park is a mystery. There really is not much difference in quality between us and the top three sides.

Callum Mac Manaman was superb. It is just a pity he only decided to start performing in April.

We have three games remaining against struggling / mid table sides, but two are away from home. We probably need nine points to be sure of the play offs, given Mansfield's and Sutton's games in hand.

What happened to Tranmere? They come to Crawley and won and were looking a cert for automatic promotion. Two months later they're having to win to stay in the play off picture.

Crawley won with a decent shot from the edge of the box and according to the beeb nothing else happened.

What an absolute joke of a day, totally annoying from all angles from the start.

Wrong formation from clough, from tactics, wrong substitutions, he’s outflitcrofting flitcroft with his baffling performances as manager since january, bottle jobs.

Added to that we’ve scored a fair goal which the officials missed its galling, once again being let down by officials.

The black and white of the game is that without oates weve nothing uptop and would still be playing today and not scored / players were scared to shoot, would pass out wide and the delivery into the box was shocking. carlisle we’re, well limited but there’s much to work on there and i’m sure simpson will make some changed in the summer.

Always enjoy my trips to carlisle, nice place and decent fans, enjoyed some pints outside the griffin by the station in the sun.

That’s mansfield done though

Injuries and suspensions and we can't win away from home. It is as simple as that really.

We have not won an away game since that victory at Crawley in January. By contrast, we have the best home record in the division by a fair distance.

Just not good enough at the end of the day. There were some people who thought we were riding our luck to be 2nd and it seems they were right!

I’m delighted with the Carlisle result given how it helps our playoff chances but if I was a Mansfield fan I’d be absolutely raging with that officiating today. Shocking decision.

Thought we looked like what I feared, lacking in midfield. Taylor is not a defensive midfielder and it showed first half. With Walker or Pett in there we would have been much more competitive. I didn't think there was much in the game in all honesty. Rovers did what they had to, they weren't sensational but didn't need to be in the end. The ball just didn't fall for us today, nothing went our way...just a game too far with 2 or 3 who clearly weren't fit.

Second half we huffed and puffed without testing the keeper. I thought as soon as we went in at half time a goal down that we would struggle to get back into it. A Joey Barton team is going to be well versed at the dark arts and I wasn't left disappointed. They had very little intention to play football second half but were masters of shithousery, aided and abetted by a weak ref who should have booked the keeper to nip his ridiculous time wasting in the bud. Coutts is also tremendous at shithousery.

Barton celebrating like he'd won the world cup. He really is a classless prat that I'm glad has no association with our club.

Great following by Rovers, pretty quiet until the end as were we but I think all were nervous.

At least it's a decent club in the race with us and not another tinpotter doing better than us. Still in our hands but we've left very little room for error. Bristol or Northampton surely favourites for 3rd now.

Used to it by now, you know we’ve obviously had some stuff go our way throughout the season but the ‘it even it’s self out’ does not work this season, we have been done dirty.

Nope, Vale still faves as you have the points on the board.
Not sure how Barton celebrating a win triggers you but hey ho

I can maybe understand the referee being unsure from his position. It’s hard to tell for sure looking face on at the goal from that distance.

But for the linesman not to see it? I just don’t get it. It’s not as if there were 5 players on the goal line blocking his view. He was at the side of the pitch, in line looking straight at it. It’s a disgraceful piece of inept officiating which we didn’t even need in the end as with Oldham’s defeat we didn’t need the result. Where as Mansfield did. I was delighted with the win, but it’s just another piece of shit officiating at this level which shows it isn’t getting better.

Indeed, truly shocking. That was a full two footballs over the line!

Just turned out Carlisle first goal was offside too, not really spotted at the time, linesman in a great position aswell.

We’re used to it.

However, that’s not an excuse to losing to a highly limited side by playing the wrong tactics.

We’re committing footballing suicide, well - clough is.

That linesman infront of us, christ on a bike, he should’ve been shot.

We were good in that first half, and actually did score. Second half completely different mind
