Shows a lot about our new found spirit, that.

8 changes from Saturday, not a strong looking side, drag back from 1 down, go into ET with 10 men and go behind again. To fight back and win that on pens was a great effort.

The cup doesn't matter a huge amount to me but they deserved that big time and we're almost guaranteed a big quarter final now...even if we are likely to get well beat.

You'll get Southampton away :2thumb::2thumb:.
No to be honest you've had all the big teams over the years. If I was a leeds fan I'd want hull/saints/sunderland at home best chance to get through.

Aye I can't remember the last QF we made it to - has to be close to 10 years. Potential for an OK draw too so I'm genuinely excited.

Football on show is the best I've seen in years. Made wholesale changes tonight but that 1-0 loss at Deepdale at the weekend is going to be very annoying.

Definitely. Sunderland or Hull at home I reckon we'd give a good game so long as Monk put out a stronger side than tonight.

Although I'm more confident about taking on one of the big guns now than I was a year ago, it's a lot to ask really. It'd take a miracle to reach the final the way the fixtures are panning out but just good to see exciting fulfilling nights at ER again. Proud of this side which hasn't been the case for a long time.

That is such a Norwich way to lose a match. Absolute classic Norwich. 2-1 up against 10 knackered men in extra time and 20 minutes later out of the Cup.

There can't be a team in the land with a worse penalty conversion rate than us in recent times.

Extra time finished at 22:22, with the score at 2-2.

The attendance? 22,222...

How did I know JJH would have left that early?

We weren't bad, not particularly good- far too many misplaced passes, and more than held our own with a rotated side playing an unfamiliar formation against a Premier League side.
Then there was the ref who gave every decision he could in favour of Hull, and the linesman who decided he would go blind for the blatant shove in the back right in front of him which lead to the first Hull goal.

Last 10 minutes we were all over Hull, Tomlin missed two gilt edged chances and a shot was cleared off the line at the death.

Oh well, the cup run was fun while it lasted.

Because I just posted it in this thread, supercityfan169.
Never claimed to be a super fan, though I must have forgot that great lift you get as a player when you see your own fans walking out.
We more than deserved to take the game to extra time. Had we done so we were in the ascendancy and Hull were fading fast.
With a very rotated side we more than matched Hull, even during our worst periods of play. As far as defeats go that was a good won. But never mind, season ticket in the river and all that, eh?

Yeah, in fairness I reckon they must've felt completely demoralised and lost all sense of motivation to specifically notice a few fans making an early dash for it.

Good "won" mate.

Sorry my grammar isn't perfect right now. Doing 2 ten hour shifts on 4 hours sleep with a 4 hour commute can be quite tiring, hope you won't walk out after that disappointment

Each to there own if people want to leave early it's up to them if people want to stay till the end then fair enough. I've always been one for leaving early but I think that's just cos of how bad we've been for 5 years I'm starting to enjoy it again now so might change.

My first comment on it was light hearted, much like I'd say "why aren't I surprised to see gasheads making up their attendances?" (Sorry Aber gas just an example.) But I really don't see why you'd leave a game where you are more than matching a team from the division above. Had their keeper not made three or four very good point blank saves it would have been a totally different story and we limited them to half chances, one free header aside. Of course, he did, so it's irrelevant now.

Yes I rose to the bait when JJH made a snarky comment, but I'm fucking shattered and a bit irritable. Just looking forward to getting home now

No need for apologies mate. I'm just here for the shithead infighting.

I'd much rather win on Saturday, to progress further in the cup would be an added bonus, but a big game up at Oakwell on Saturday for us.

Left early tonight, fucks me off that you get 15,000+ turning up for a cup game against a dull opposition for a place in the quarter finals and he puts out a reserve side.

So which is it? You can't expect Johnson to put out our strongest XI if he wants to focus on getting a result at Barnsley.

I'll never understand this. Why does it have to be either/or?

Yes, I'd rather us win on Saturday than tonight, but why is that relevant? I'd have liked us to win both games, or at least gave tonight a proper good go with a full strength side.

Relevant because by resting players tonight they will be well rested for Saturday, if there would be no physical impact on Saturday then we'd have played our strongest side.
