For the economy, only hope now is that the EU also suffers and other major EU players (Germany etc) follow suite. Especially as without our contribution, further EU bailouts will be required as the weaker EU Nations will receive less. The UK leaving could have a much bigger effect in the years to come.

Well it did have the feeling of the potential economical factor V the issue of immirgration.

Looking at the results particularly in the north people certainly voted strongly in favour of " out".

How long willl people give for the changes that will happen now to come into force?

Who knows. No doubt an emergency EU Summit will be called fairly fast as well as an emergency budget, the latter possibly before the summer recess

Arguing on the economy worked for them so well in the general election they tried to replicate it here, and it failed spectacularly.

It's a tiny margin, there are a hell of a lot on the "losing side". I was hoping (praying) it would go at least 55% one way or the other. 4 points isn't much of a mandate.

Going to need a lot of Remainers to "suck it up" and work with it. Tough on such an emotional issue.

- most politicians back remain
- most celebrities back remain
- most papers back remain
- most big businesses back remain

"uphill struggle"

Most people hate politicians
Most people think that celebrities are idiots
Most people read the papers that back brexit
Most people have no time for big businesses

So far: SNP set to seek 2nd referendum, Sinn Fein seeking referendum, Nikkei suspended after falling 8%, Tata Steel more likely to quit.

You c***. United Ireland please.

The old people that turned out in their droves to vote Brexit won't even live to feel the effects of the referendum. They think they know what's best for their children and their grandchildren, but other generations voted largely against them. Great system, huh.

I'm genuinely curious as to what people think they've changed. The invoking of Article 50 doesn't even sound like it will happen soon. So it might be months before they invoke it. Might be even longer. Then we have 2 years of negotiating our withdrawal from the EU. How much longer after that will it take before we start seeing real change in the way the country is run, in the economy, with immigration etc etc.

Oh and whilst all that uncertainty is going on, Scotland imo will hold another independence referendum and they'll probably vote to leave, thus staying in the EU. Although I think Sturgeon would be wise to wait, because this could be the beginning of the end for the EU as we know it, what with the rumblings in Italy and France amongst other EU nations that their people aren't in favour of the EU. But Scotland could leave, Northern Ireland could leave.

I genuinely feel like this is the beginning of the end for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland as we know it. Would I be wide of the mark to say that within a decade, we could well see Scotland and Northern Ireland break away from the UK, bringing to an end the union that has lasted for centuries?

What scares me is that the Leave side don't have any answers. Every person from that side that I've seen has just dealt in vagaries. They talk about excitement and opportunity, but I genuinely don't think they have a single clue as to what steps need to be taken next. I don't mind saying, I'm fucking terrified as to what sort of country(UK/England) I'll be living in in 10 years time.

And people claim we should respect the elderly.
Not guilty across our families but it does stand out to me that financially this will have much less financial impact on the likes of me than most others.

Not necessarily time for even more speculation but it sure looks messy for many, especially families, looking for a job or a first house in the next few years.

Nigel Farage says no we won't be able to spend £350m to the NHS... That was a mistake for Vote Leave to say that, he says...

I'll be honest, I genuinely didn't believe we would for one second vote out.

So can someone on here who voted Leave please kindly tell me their reasons why? Not looking to have a go, I'm just trying to wrap my head around why 17 million people in this country just voted the way they did.

Farage is a disgusting person and this is going to lead to an upswing in support for UKIP and other extreme right wing groups.

For him say the exit campaign won without a single bullet being fired is disgraceful.

Dress this up how you want to but this is a major victory for the right wing. Horrifying.
