I'll be honest, I genuinely didn't believe we would for one second vote out.

So can someone on here who voted Leave please kindly tell me their reasons why? Not looking to have a go, I'm just trying to wrap my head around why 17 million people in this country just voted the way they did.

It's da immagraton innit.

Probably things you've already read. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/06/22/20-reasons-you-should-vote-to-leave-the-european-union/

The only things against it for me were the situations that'll be created with NI and Gibraltar, but with so many reasons in our favour if we left(imo) that was always going to be the way I voted.

I am very confused, as an outsider should be probably.
I often hear that quite some EU members are in a mess themselves. And there are countries doing fine without being in the EU or any other politico-economic unions.
Why Remainers believe that remain in EU is good and important to UK?

Great result, well done all who voted leave and saw through the lies and scare stories from the remain campaign.

Time for a bit of short term turmoil and uncertainty before we get the long term gain but it will be worth it in the end.

Nicola Sturgeon now claiming that the result means that a new referendum must be on the cards for Scotland. Perhaps, but surely not for her given that she voted to remain. You can't ride two horses with one arse.

I think we need a general election. Parties need to express the way they want to take the country forward.
Agree, now I think on it. It may have only have only been a year since the last one but this is such a fundamental change to the way Britain works it's rendered pretty irrelevant.

Now we've decided to leave we need to have a say on how our country is led outside the EU. And what individual party's visions for the future are now, as there was a distinct lack of that during the campaign

The FTSE100 fall 8% within minutes of the exchange opening.

£137bn wiped off stocks in the worst FTSE fall ever.

Because I don't think the surrendering of control is worth the presumed economic benefit, and I have supreme confidence in the UK's ability to prosper outside of the EU. I predict that in 3-4 years time we'll look back at this hysteria and think it all a bit silly.

It's the fact Scotland voted to remain and were dragged out by the rest of us that would be the justification for it, which is fair enough tbh.

Not sure they will though because, really, the EU is dead now. Would it be worth leaving the UK for?

Brilliant. Never been so happy to be wrong. The country has won despite everything being against em, we are the people!

Also, how is UKIP right wing? Their policies & pledges have been left if anything. The EU was authoritarian and right wing, thank fuck we've left. We've got our country back!

So we're going to have one silver-spoon **** replaced by another. Johnson's plan seems to be on target and him ending up as PM could be as bigger downside of this result as leaving the EU itself.

As soon as the Newcastle result came in you knew something was afoot. I actually did pinch myself as the night went on, f'king mental at times. The stocks will recover, this was always gonna happen. Short term pain, long term gain.

Cameron had no other option really. Fair play for doing the right thing. I do agree that a GE may be necessary once things settle down.

The reason this is yes is because of the total lack of notice government and London has given many other areas of uk for years.

Scotland showed its protests with the snp, rest of uk has here.

The last 4-5 year seen masses of people, especially poles enter the UK. The idea to just force most 'out into the sticks' has had devestating and very racist effects.

Needed slow integration, not just dumping loads in areas and thinking it will be accepted as it happens in London.
