O
He is but I don't think it's a position they'd go out to buy for, not what it would cost them to prise Bertrand away for anyway. Baines will do for another season with Oviedo/Galloway as back up.
Neither cut it at our top 4 level anymore

Van Dijk would take up a fair % of their transfer budget. Recently signed a 6 year deal. The mirror thinks he's interested in taking him with him to Everton (along with JWP) but that same article bigs up his attention to youth development. Bringing players through the academy hasn't been one of his strong points here.

Bertrand is better than anything they have to offer at LB and has always been full of praise when it comes to Koeman.
LOL

Don't really think they'd need/want all that many Southampton players though really. Van Dijk and Forster are the only ones that standout. Mane and Tadic are supposdly not mates with Koeman and then there's only Wanyama because Evertons defensive mids are getting on a bit, and I reckon Saints would be ok with him going anyway.
Tom Davies has no pubes and besic and mcarthy are early mid twenties great post bud.

Feel like after all these years I've been directing a dislike at the wrong club in Liverpool.

Sorry Liverpool fans.

To be fair, judging Everton and the fanbase on johnnytodd's posts is akin to using Michael Mcintyre as a yardstick for comedians.

Good move for Koeman. It seems like a sideways or even backwards move just looking at the table, but the Everton squad is as talented as Southampton's already, it was just mismanaged by an inept defensive manager. Koeman will shore up the defence and they should remain one of the more potent attacking sides in the league. Everton are in a position to show more ambition than Southampton, he'll earn more and be able to spend more on players. I can see Everton being another stepping stone to a bigger club for Koeman, but can't blame him for moving at all, it was the sensible thing to do.

Stealing my material. Don't worry, any additional vitriol towards Michael McIntyre is only a good thing.

FD Boer basically begged for the Everton job..........when asked yesterday if he would be interested in Saints job he simply said " NO "

That tells you all you need to know on who's bigger.

I protest in the loudest manner. I've always thought Mcintyre is shit, and any similar comments you have made I've not read.

Michael McIntyre is more entertaining than LVG's brand of football. It really isn't difficult to see why everyone is happy he's gone and anyone else has replaced him (I would have taken John Carver). I don't think I've ever watched a more boring football team this much, it's finally over. :hail:

Yeah. I'd have said Stuart Lee.

:obama:

Eddie Howe for saints next ?

Currently being reported as Saints' top target in both ours and their local rag.
Like they last time they asked Howe about it, he'll politely tell them thanks but no thanks.

Eddie Mitchell exaggerated to make out that Saints offered Howe the job. That wasn't quite true. Mitchell did let Howe have talks with Saints when they asked whist scouting for Pardew's successor, because Mitchell saw an opportunity for compensation. We were selling / looking to sell lots of players at that time if you look back at the transfer history. Howe was polite but firm in a rejection with Cortese, and went back and had a blazing row with Mitchell. It's all part of the build up in tension between Mitchell and Howe that resulted in Howe leaving.

That's the story as we understand it anyway. Of course Saints would disagree.

Former Southampton and England forward Matt le Tissier said he was "disappointed" and "quite surprised" at Koeman's decision to leave, particularly with Saints playing in the Europa League next season.

"He may feel he has got a better chance of winning trophies at Everton. I'd be of a slightly different opinion," Le Tissier told BBC Sport. "I understand they've got a new owner and want to splash a bit of cash, but it might not be as easy a job as he thinks.

"Most clubs in the Premier League are pretty wealthy now and can compete in the transfer market. We just have to move on and look to the next man to take us forward again.

Nah. Matt's clearly not heard. Everton will be challenging for top 4 next season.

Tbf I've only ever heard the myth about us offering him the job. Eddie Mitchell wouldn't shut up about that all season.

Whilst Everton are clearly a bigger club than Southampton, Southampton are in a better position, a stronger and younger squad. Whilst Everton have a very good starting 11, the reserves are awful and is why Everton after a few injuries could only finish bottom half this season.

The Southampton owners wealth is 3 times that of Evertons new owner. It's just the new Everton owner wants to adopt an immediate scatter gun approach to things, whereas Southampton are a well run sustainable model. Koemans been offered a lot more money in wages and it's turned his head.

However, Southampton fans are a lot more level headed, whereas Everton fans will be demanding Champions League qualification, or even the title as some believed they should have won last season. Everton need to strengthen the squad as a whole, so that any injuries to first team players are covered and simply finishing 8th/9th would be a good season and signs of progress. However that realistic finish would probably lead to fans calling for Koeman to be sacked...

The prospect of Koeman appears to have made Toddy more unstable if anything.
