Ha I do actually agree with you on that one. Sounds like a loophole to me.

The quote about Stockport though is bull. He has apparently said since that it was taken out of context. We have taken close to 4000 on previous visits there.

One thing which must be noted though is his transfer dealings have been limited. We are not allowed to deal with Salford in any capacity with players going either way while scholes is here
Probably a good thing given their habit of poaching good players.

I'm thinking the loophole is maybe that they only look for actual hands-on involvement in the day to day running of the club, and don't take account of what is clearly an emotional rather than practical attachment to the club.

I still think it will be looked at again in the summer should Salford go up (which they wont anyway).

I note that Beckham's purchase of 10% of Salford now means the Class of 92 own the majority of the club. Although they're technically just 6 individual people, will they behave almost as if they were a holding company?

From what I can tell, it seems certain promises that were made (interference from the owner?) were not kept.

It's Oldham, what did he expect? They've been a mess behind the scenes for a while. Do your research ffs.

Supposed to be a fan aswell, think he’d be a bit clued up.

He might be a genius on the pitch, but he like so many footballers comes across as pretty dim off it.

I'm curious as to what promises haven't been kept or what goalposts have supposedly moved. Call me cynical, but the fact they've only won 1 of his 7 games in charge, that being his first against Yeovil, might have had a part. I do wonder whether he got cold feet at the realities of lower league management and bolted, quoting off field interference so as to not come off badly.

Brilliant, and to think Sol was mocked. At least he has had the guts to fight it out.

If this is Scholes walking away because he realises he's gonna make a shit manager then he's a coward and can go back to punditry.

If, however, this is that Chairman of theirs meddling again, then don't say many fans of other clubs didn't warn you Oldham fans. A fair few had the rose tinted specs on in the Summer despite some pretty damning articles against his ownership in the rags. Some of which seemed very legitimate concerns about the man as well.

So sad to see yet another club in a mess because of instability and egotistical behaviour. It's becoming far too commonplace in the lower leagues yet again.

I think Scholes being out thought by a couple of PE teachers then easily beaten by a bunch of clogging giant Sunday League hoofers was too much to take on Tuesday night. Couple that with not getting every decision like when playing for Man United brought home the reality of League Two footy. Stick to punditry Paul, you are even dour at that.

Seen quite a few ex Oldham players that give the impression that it's the owner that's the problem.

Could be the culture shock. I once worked for Microsoft as a call centre trainer and the facilities were amazing. You get pampered, everything done for you. Nothing's your concern. the Man U of the call centre world if you like. The agreement between Microsoft and my recruitment agent ended so I came back home from 2 years in India and joined a dodgy telesales group in West London. I couldn't hack it and quit after 6 weeks so I empathise with him entirely. It's EXACTLY the same kind of thing :)

Did Scholes say before he was appointed that if the Chairman interfered he'd walk away? If he did then fair play to him.

Given what seems to come out of Oldham from time to time i.e. being run stupidly, I'd be inclined to side with Scholes about people sticking their neb in rather than him just not fancying it.

But the issues behind the scenes at Oldham have been known for a long time, so he's only got himself to blame in my opinion. His friends told him what to expect but he was naive enough to go through with it anyway. His contract included a clause that the owner wouldn't interfere, that should set alarm bells ringing straight away...

I agree. Definitely a heart over head decision from him, although probably an expected one given that he's a fan of the club.

Two sides to every story. Maybe the truth is somewhere in the middle.
To be fair, he really didn't look interested on Tuesday night, maybe his mind was made up. But, his comments about Oldham playing well were very wide of the mark. Perhaps its for the best on both sides.
