Thought that post was on this thread, apologies it was posted in the league prediction thread.

I'm not referring to latics fans saying it, but a common consensus from none latics fans you speak to is that we will do well this year, and I just can't see it. We are a an accident waiting to happen

Only relatively safe bets imo are Notts Co & Lincoln top 7 and Morecambe, Macclesfield to be cut adrift. The rest you could throw up in the air and see where they land.

Agree with this. Think the forest green fan was on the wind up. Look at the league prediction thread and most have us near the bottom. I don’t think we’ll do that badly but I’d have to disagree that fans of other clubs think we’ll do well.

This week Abdallah put out a statement, readable here essentially blaming previous owner Simon Corney for payment problems, and saying we're now on a firm footing to build for the long-term future.

He has also dismissed Craig Davies' comments made after leaving, and while I'm not absolving Abdallah of the way he may have acted last season, what he says about Davies' attitude does line up.

There have been comments by staff who have recently been relieved of their duties of being treated very poorly, but no particular details have come out, and I'm going to reasonably assume most of it is concerns plenty of long term staff would have to suddenly being made unemployed.

Jack Byrne, it seems, isn't going to play for the club again. I'm willing to take what the owner and manager have said at face value, that he has breached club discipline rules, and that we're looking to have a well-disciplined, tight-knit group of players. Some Latics fans reckon it's more to do with trying to force our highest-paid player out of the club.

The fans' trust has regular communication with Abdallah, here they are saying as much, and it's great to have those fans' eyes and ears at board level, with the hope they're not easily swayed by words over actions. I believe they do good work though, and am quite trusting of them.

Overall, I'm a fan of the path forward the owner has set out in his statement. I'm so ready for us to be a stable, well-run club with good values. Fingers crossed that's what happens.

What we really need now is wins to settle us down as a fanbase, and the next six fixtures really ought to give us a few.

We used to hear stuff like this from Day all the time. It was a classic cop out in his early days. He seems to have dropped this one now as he has realised he can't blame our former board for his terrible running of BFC anymore.

Hope your man is much more honest than ours is.

Yes, very true, risks looking foolish if financial troubles rear their head again.

But knowing what we do about Simon Corney's latter years at Latics, including dodgy looking loans and not paying creditors whenever possible (Wigan didn't want to loan us Callum Lang due to our tarnished reputation this week until Joe Royle put a good word in for Abdallah), I'm going to take that statement at face value.

I'm not stupid, I know he might be telling his own version of the truth, and possibly may even turn out to be a disaster owner, but I'm not going to just assume he will be. I'm just judging goings-on in my own way and not making hyperbolic judgements one way or the other, as many football fans love to do!

Keegan is at it again. Reckons the players haven't been paid again and refused to train today.

For a supposed fan of the club he's a bit of an arse. It's been quiet off the pitch for a couple of month. It's almost like we have been a well run club for once.

Not sure you can blame Keegan for the owner not paying the wages on time. Bloody frustrating that this is happening again.

Don't blame him for that but he jumps at having a dig at the club at the first opportunity. He is more interested in having a pop these days than supporting the club

Obviously there are other issues with AL but without knowing any real details it's difficult to point the finger

How is he having a dig? He's a journalist writing a story about your club. He's not included any opinion, it's simply a matter of fact. Would you rather not know your players weren't being paid?

Any reporter yes, fine. But he's a fan.

Would you write a story that could directly damage your club?

You do realise he’s a sports journalist? It’s his fucking job.

You’re a weirdo if you’re more bothered about the guy who wrote the article than the actual matter of players not being paid.

Not sure how it’s directly damaging the club though? I’d say the players not being paid is what’s damaging the club, not someone reporting on it! If anything it will put more pressure on AL to pay up.

Indeed, would you rather the truth be buried? Fan or not, don’t shoot the messenger - if true, the fans should be thanking the reporter for bringing this to light. I see the BBC is reporting it now, too. Nothing is worse for morale than unpaid wages - a couple of years ago we got off to a decent start and were 6th in late October after a fine win at Pompey. Then the wages stopped and we went on a club record 10 match losing streak, which saw us plummet into the bottom 2 in January. If it hadn’t been for Hardy taking over and turning on the tap again, we’d probably be non-league now.

I think only stand-up, OK chaps like that Rees-Mogg fellow-me-lad should be allowed to own football clubs.

Too much riff-raff in the game

Look im not saying AL is free of blame. Far from it. If he isn't paying the players so soon into his tenure he should rightly be hung drawn and quartered.

All I'm saying is putting reports out like this and the arguments he had with corney before he left - which he never backed up - It stinks, and to me, he is no fan of the club

I’d rather he kept doing it providing it’s all true.

So it's alright for you to slate the owner on here but not for the local media to do it? Surely if he exposes the owner for a charlatan and the chain of events leads to the club coming under better ownership then he's doing a good thing for the club. You think Blackpool fans are having a go at their local paper for printing negative things about the Oystons?

If I could expose wrongdoing at my club, of course I bloody would!

Would you rather be kept in the dark and pretend everything is fine and dandy? Very naive.

I hardly think you can compare our owner who has been at it for less than a year to the oystons.

The way Keegan goes about his business makes me wonder if he would treat good news the same way.

Cost cutting decision maybe given the players weren't paid last month?

There really shouldn’t be any more cost cutting needed. Our playing budget from last season to this will be down significantly given some of the players we had on our books.

The club was slowly stripped of everything by the previous owner and was left on life support. I’d hoped this new owner would be able run us like a normal football club but we seem even more of a circus than before.

My club seems in crisis a lot of bitter fans the rumours flying about all over the place latest is that bunn will be sacked if we don’t win today. Unpaid wages pensions not paid for four months owner saying he is putting £200 k a month in , previous regime pocketing transfer fees the list is endless we must be the worst run club in the football league but at the end of the day it’s in my blood like your clubs are in your blood I feel so sorry for the young Oldham fans it must be so easy and tempting to support city and united who are less than 10 miles away at least I can remember happier times when we played in the top division that and hope is what keeps me turning up in all weathers to support the mighty blues enjoy your day at whatever game you go to today

Sounds like the kinda of player Joey Barton would warm to, tbh I'd never heard of him but I've already taken a liking to him, just love the underdogs in this world ( not that he is in this category ) wish him well and hope he does the business for you

Now we’ve binned Phil Brown, for some bizarre reason Richie Wellens is the bookies fav for the job.

Opinions?
